Here is a wonderful clip of The Fabulous Thunderbirds with the song She's Tuff. I believe it was recorded from one of The Old Grey Whistle Test "best of" programs.

Wow, the great Billy Bremner from Rockpile on guitar. He also played the great lead guitar part on the Pretenders Back to Ohio (My City was Gone). He's one of the few British guitarists that really stayed true to authentic American roots music. People like him, Dave Edmunds and Albert Lee are so important for turning people people on to "the real thing".

This is a song that actually sounds much better live and has gotten harder with time.

Jimmie was in the hospital flirting with the nurses and recooperating from a broken ankle as a result of falling off a stage.

Keith was just helping out. Keith and Jimmy later made things right, before Keith passed away. He was a good friend to me.

This is fine archive. Years ago, I dreamed of the day when all material like this would surface. There must have been billions of clips on dusty old shelves, especially in the Beeb. Now the day is here. I have an audio recording on cassette of this. Jimmie was in hospital with a broken leg, happened just before they were due to record this and Rockpile's guitarist, who's name escapes me now, stepped in. They went on to play the Hope and Anchor with Martin Belmont in for Jimmie

The guitarist here is Billy Bremner, formerly with Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe in Rockpile.

Perharps always, but certainly not this time. His B chord is just a major mistake. Take an ear to Jimmie's way of playing that tune. But he was ok with Rockpile.

@pit2ryan3 If I remember rightly, Jimmie Vaughan had just broken his leg in London which is why he wasn't on the show. I remember seeing this on TV at the time! I caught the T-Birds at The Marquee a few months later - completely changed my view of how music could be made. What a cool band!!

Brilliant. Saw them at Dingwalls in 1981?ish? Immediately after watching Mickey Jupp at The Dublin Castle, Camden Town. And again at The Town and country Club the following year, I think supported by Omar and the Howlers.

Best line-up for my money (with Jimmy of course)....not much film of the wonderful Keith Ferguson.

He broke his leg. So they got Billy Bremner to play some UK dates. I think I remember that correctly as I'm almost sure that I saw this line up live in London. Maybe I'm wrong as this era was a bit of a blur for me, & a long time ago. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. This is youtube after all.
