About The Facts of Life: At the Eastland School in Peekskill, New York, Edna Garrett (Charlotte Rae) oversees the day-to-day lives of students who come from all walks of life. Under the care of this slightly nutty but always caring housemother is the beautiful, rich and spoiled Blair Warner (Lisa Whelchel); the witty, plump and impressionable Natalie Green (Mindy Cohn); Dorothy “Tootie” Ramsey (Kim Fields), the young and persistent campus gossip; and Joanna “Jo” Polniaczek (Nancy McKeon), a Bronx-born and bred streetwise kid whose tough exterior masks the brains and compassion she's hiding underneath. Whether it's the challenges posed by Eastland's academic and social scenes, the rise, fall and rebirth of the businesses they start and run together, or the comings and goings of new faces in school and town, including Edna's replacement (and sister) Beverly Ann Stickle (Cloris Leachman), the girls are always ready for a new challenge, and perceptive enough to learn from each new situation.

The biggest effect that they had on each other was when they went home on break. Blair got angry with her friend because she berated her housekeeper. Jo confronted one of her street friends when she wanted to deface a painting that the elderly had done at a local center in the Bronx.

I was glad that they kept Blair, Natalie, and Tootie from the original cast (they were my favorites). I didn't like Jo too much when she was first introduced (she was too angry), but once she settled in, she became another favorite. The contrast between her and Blair made for some funny and intriguing episodes.

It would not have been realistic for a girl from the streets of The Bronx to start off at an exclusive school in a happy or well adjusted manner. Jo needed to be cooled off a bit, and sure enough, she would be.

"Bowl of Meow Mix" 🧐😳😏😅😂🤣🤣 Season 1 was decent, but season 2's format changes were so perfect that it became iconic. It holds up well despite the technological changes since then. I don't miss payphones but I do miss shows like TFoL.

Charlotte Rae passed away I think either 2018 or 2019. Lisa Whenchel did appear on Survivor in 2012. Mindy Cohn is doing a podcast show. Kim Fields is still doing acting and I think directing. Nancy McKeon did a police procedure show called The Division the Disney show Sonny with a Chance she played Demi Devato's on the series. They've done other stuff since the end of the Facts of Life but that's about all I know

since the two were dating off camera at one time and the two shows were on NBC--it would have been awesome to have a crossover where Alex and Jo get together in NY. Blair and Jo fight over Alex (Blair doesn't realize he went to public high school bc of how he carries himself lol). Thought that would have made for an interesting TV movie....although Fox and McKeon were no longer together by then (He was married to Pollan).
