Many States are considering making euthanasia LEGAL. Mark my words Chronic pain patients will be on the top of the list! Just as MAIDS is in Canada! This is because of the cost of care. They would rather honestly truly have you pass away versus treating you with an opiate that could increase your quality of life. Many that could have their quality of life improved could even possibly work. It is so unethical to have to choose euthanasia when there is treatment. Is there a cure, no, there is not. But it can be controlled with opiates for those who are in severe chronic pain. we shall live to see this. I would choose it, even at the point I am because I am on less than half of the medicine I need. I can’t do the basics of ADLS on many days. I literally live on a day-to-day basis as I don’t know what I am going to wake up to. I am a former nurse practitioner with over 30 years of caring for chronic pain patients. Never in my life would I think we would be where we are today on treating Pain? Again, it is unethical, inhumane, and totally not acceptable in regards to what the government is doing to the people with chronic pain in the United States of America. We never got any attention because there’s so many people out there, shooting other people and so much violence going on. How sad our world is.

Well said and I've said the exact same thing. Why is Congress SOOOOO blind and turning their heads and completely ignoring this issue? It does take decades to figure out that someone that can verify by bloodwork, MRI's, CT,s....have diseases, diagnosis and non treatable severe chronic pain need pain medicine!!!! I've been confirmed with 30 diagnosis and have been thrown to the dogs. I've never abused street drugs, and have never failed a drug test yet my meds were completely taken away from me. I lay here bedridden waiting for disability while my 21 yr old takes care of me. Which btw no Mother wants to allow her children (I've raised 6) to see her this way let alone have to tent to me. Because of my diagnosis I should be on pain medication the rest of my life, what difference does it make if I become addicted?

I think when you take a chronic pain patient precipitously off the meds even if they’ve been on a stable dose with no addiction or diversion it’s simply cruel to expect a patient who was put on by they’re doctor, to suddenly with no warning stop prescribing. The private hospitals and clinics have made policies in which they “no longer treat chronic pain patients “leaving them in a precipitous unexpected abrupt tapering and often results in the patient experiencing abrupt increase in their pain and then withdrawal symptoms. There is a difference between opioid dependence and substance abuse disorder. Many have proved over time they are responsible and the meds make it possible to do more activities without experiencing severe pain afterward. Pain patients are suffering and they need support, not abandoned after it was their doctor who put them on it and as such must take responsibility for that, stop taking it out on people who live with intractable pain every day. That is burden enough.

From a patient’s prospective, please note that we are totally out of the loop when trying to determine who has the ball and delaying the issuance of a script. The pharmacy blames the physicians and vise versa. Occasionally the insurance carrier is blamed. Regardless, we have no line of sight on who is holding the ball. Just imagine the reduction of workload (phone calls alone) and improved customer service if the patient knew who is delaying a prescription. Geez, it ain’t rocket science.

So much for HIPPA rights if you have chronic pain.
@Laura-nh2wb
@Laura-nh2wb 6 ай бұрын
That's EXACTLY what I wrote into HIPAA about. Basically HIPPA'S bs!!!!! Anyone can access our records. Med students, law authorities (without a warrant),...GO to the pdmp or HIPPA and read up on this. I'm instantly in love with this Dr. Lilly for at least trying but sadly like he said we won't win against the government. I pray to die every night. God bless to all you chronic pain patients that have to suffer in silence o wait, I mean tortured and by our own government!!! Who would have thought they would have EVER allowed this?

I am denied a medication to control Dysautonomia. It was life changing. It's a NON controlled substance. Walgreens blacklisted me after many years. They made so much money off me, now I don't matter. I'm now bedridden for that.

So it sounds to me like anyone in pain will CONTINUE TO GET THEIR PRESCRIPTIONS ON THE STREET. Thanks for taking care of those who actually need these medications. So now people who answer the questions properly will get meds. Those who don't, won't. Oh that's great.

Thank you Dr. Lilly- excellent information. My dr who lost license for being a board consultant and triple bd certified----(but did prescribe pain meds)- told all of us to "remove label when disposing of empty bottles---for safety". Now I see someone somewhere can look in the data base, see who gets what- and send some home invasion gang over to the house. This is very scary. At least credit reporting agencies have to leave a trail when they look at someones credit- this needs to be fixed immediately for patient safety.

I just want to add one more thing. The pdmp admits there may be errors in our records. I encourage EVERYONE to get a copy (which you are entitled to) of their pdmp/pmp.

I have not tried to get a copy but I don’t think they will allow the you to view the information they have on you. I read about a gentleman who was in a legal battle of sorts & he needed the information his state had on him in their PDMP. The PDMP refused to the point the gentleman had to sue them for the information. He won & did get the information.

@@deemariewright3981 you can get it basically from a pharmacist but the only time you get it otherwise is when you are lectured ====the state wont give it to you they say "Its a tool for drs and pharmacists to protect me". The laws governing it should be the same as the fair credit reporting act.

Best solution but this is a run away train. A year later and patients with intractable pain & rare diseases are suffering/dying all the while the gravy train moves along. NOW cancer patients & surgical patients are being treated with Tylenol & NSAIDS. I’ve seen several just within my circle. It’s bad!!
