This is why I mainly only by new. But when I do buy 2nd hand I’ll only go to a reputable ‘brick and mortar’ family owned shop like CRM. See how long they spent confirming what they thought was fake. These young flippers out there don’t even keep the watches long enough to take them out of a spec case, they have already sold the watch and moved onto the next sucker adding nothing to the watch but cost. CRM might cost a little more but you’re paying for experience and piece of mind imo that’s worth it

People dont understand that at every slight improvement, cost increase significant. The costs consist of development, premium aloys, coatings, hardness of the pivots, smootnes and tolerance of the gears, marketing costs, brand development. These factories making fakes, back engineer the orginals, cutting all the development and brand building costs, dont have to offer aftersales or warenty, dont have to promise and need to deliver on quality and reliability... I wouldnt be surprised if these fakes have a higher profit margin on each watch then Rolex does.

I used to think about getting a fake watch. But when you think about it, what’s the point? If you get a fake because of the price, then what you want is either the recognition or the look. If it’s recognition then you’re just a phony. If it’s the look then there are other cheaper watches that look like these for a much cheaper price. Like the Rolex Daytona is similar in appearance to the Seiko Speedmaster I learned. So I’ll just buy a speedmaster for $700 since it’s the look I like. And it’s also a reputable seller and no one is stealing IP.

its not the same. Clones break soon after, and they dont keep time well, plus you can tell just by the weight that they're fake and also they're usually not well made. But the easiest one is by just checking if the metal is real@@derekwhoelse8359
