Alan Wilson Watts (6 January 1915 - 16 November 1973) was a well-known British philosopher, writer and speaker, best known for his interpretation of Eastern philosophy for Western audiences. He left behind more than 25 books and an audio library of nearly 400 talks, which are still in great demand.

Of course there are problems in life and some worth paying attention too, but way too many damn people are depressed and have anxiety problems and are always worried about something...even, and often, crap that is way out of their control. Life is too short, experience it the best you can, ignore most of the bad crap you think is out there after you, handle the bad crap you can that is actually something you can control, but just live your life to your best ability.

For those who wanna practice: Take 5 moments a day "the reminders" in which you think, say, imagine it. So, you cut the tomato, you think that the tomato is you. You see the tree, you are the tree, you walk outside, you are the sky, the sky is you, etc. Though still intellectual, this will help integrate the idea, in you, in your meditation. Then, in your awakening moments, in your taste of Truth it gets "easier" to comprehend that you are the whole. Good luck! From me, which is you.

Different incarnations of you.” “Wait. And sometimes even in the lowest lows it’s beautiful if you can take a step back and see that even this is just a ripple in the universe, completely meaningless and non influential to the big picture. When I did psychedelics a while ago, I had a thought expiriment (thought about it a few times but on psychs it made me 'feel' the most). Think of this. You are you, and you came into the world the moment your mother gave birth to you. But did you really only exist from at that moment? No, obviously you came into existence when your father and mother convieved you by merging of their 2 cells. But then. Doesnt that mean that you existed even before you were born? Because you didnt just suddenly exist. The things that made you, the things that literally *_are_* you, already existed. Your parents already contained you in them. But then we might as well say that the moment your parents were concieved, you started to exist. But that would mean that the moment their parents existed you also existed. You existed the moment the first human ever existed. But thats not true either. When the first dinosaur existed, the first fish, the first multicellular organism, when the first cell ever existed, you existed with them. You may live only a few decades. But you have existed since life exists. And I find that a pretty cool thought. One can even say that we all existed even before life. Life had to emerge from the lifeless. The big bang set in motion a chain of events, creating matter, forming galaxies. forming planets and the earth. Eventually that chain of events created life, and you and me. Does this mean the big-bang contained information, an accidental, random, maybe intended blue print to create us? I dont think we will ever know.

Sometimes being a deep introspective thinker has its downsides. The phrase ignorance is bliss is very true. When you make it your life purpose to ponder deep philosophical questions about consciousness and the nature of reality then you are inadvertently opening yourself up to deep existential anxieties too. Nietzsche went insane trying to understand the human experience. I guess the secret is to try not to get lost in content and try to focus on being mindful and living in the moment

Life is out there for humans to experience and grab but over the years we have become slowly enslaved to technology which is not a living being. Life can't be experienced through soullessness. But indeed we have come to a stage where our soul is completely stripped. Alan Watts speaks from the soul. And your soul is your experiences/what you make out of life. And honestly that is the way to live but rather we are not heading that way anymore. Lets keep our heads up people 👍

I am so grateful for these videos, this feels like the most important pocket of the internet I've ever stumbled upon. I was raised on McKenna and Hicks and when things turned to trouble it was Eckhart and Watts who inspired me to come back to life. Keep up the good work!

Ah, you feel trapped while I feel free. You have the "real" view and I am stuck with delusion. But you feel trapped? Are you really trapped or do you just feel that way? Am I truly free or do I just feel that way? Which would you prefer? That's obvious, isn't it? Enjoy your prison.

Actually, we are NEVER separate from nature/God/the Universe, it is just our limited human Ego that creates the PERCEPTION of separateness, numerous mental stories, pointless labels, and false identities that almost all of us buy into and defend like a dog defending its bones due to our ignorance of our True Nature.

This is EXACTLY the conclusion I came to, when I had dmt under a gum tree one afternoon a few years back. Very enlightening 15 mins. To hear Alan Watts speak aloud on a concept I haven’t felt able to bring up in any setting before was imperative to me realising the sanity of and compassion associated with the thought that “what’s discord on one level is harmony on a higher level.” Hearing that message was a gift, and despite listening to countless hours of his lectures I hadn’t heard him say it before- thank you!! 😄

This opened my eyes. The past traumas, mistakes, wealth, and egos I’ve built up don’t make me who I am. I give myself my meaning. Not everyone is perfect, no one will be perfect. But the reality in truth is we give ourselves a true meaning. No one else. I was. I can. I can’t. I will. I won’t. I will be….. I am, you are.
