I met Curt at a pole vault event in Aurora. I was wearing my AKRS John Deere shirt and we struck up a conversation. He asked me if I'd heard about his optimistic granddaughter Laura. I had not and he proudly told me about you and your You Tube channel Laura Farms. I've been watching your videos ever since. He was a great guy and will be missed!

Laura, it's hard to put into words how I feel about this amazing and very personal tribute you put together for all of us to share with you. To be able to speak about your memories, thoughts and raw emotions at such an incredibly difficult time is unparalleled. You're such a strong, positive spirit and I just want you to know that I, and the thousands and thousands of other caring "strangers" here on the channel, wish your entire family nothing less than our deepest condolences and our unwavering spiritual support for all of you, now and forever. It took more strength than I could ever muster to make a video like this, and we love and respect you even more for including us in the realities of life that we all must deal with. I really hope it makes you feel just a little bit better by opening up to us as you chose to do here. Be well, stay strong and know that we're ALWAYS there for you. - Bob (Toronto, Canada)

As a two tour Vietnam Veteran (66&71), I can appreciate your Papa's need to farm when he returned to "the World." He probably helped to construct many of the buildings and facilities I saw or used during the two tours. The SEEBEES are a great group that built many projects that may still be standing, today. A hearty SALUTE to your Papa's memory and legacy during his time on Earth. You were very lucky and privileged to be able to work with him and gain knowledge of his many years farming and in construction. Your resilience as a farmer will be rewarded over the years.

Dear Laura and family, I am 74 years old and my grandfather bought a farm for us in 1952. My Dad farmed our small farm for many years and has remained in the family to this day, Every time I walk the farm among the buildings and fields, it brings back memories and stories with our land, It is my prayer that I can once again help with the farm ai the time of my passing, You touched my heart< BTW I have a pair of pliers from my Dad. God bless you and your family there

The whole video I was doing my best not to break but the ending got me choked up….choked up bad. I’m 30 yrs old and I never met any of my grandparents from either side being an immigrant and my parents not having the money to fly us there nor was there FaceTime at the time but it got to me because I see how much my 6 year old daughter loves my dad and follows him around while he’s doing ranch work. He loves her to bits, and he secretly gives her a candy bar or sneaky sips of soda that her mother and I don’t agree on her having all the time but when she’s around my dad she looks to see where I’m at and when I’m outside or gone out for a second she’ll ask my dad for sweets 😂 …. I saw my dad through my little daughter’s eyes and I figured that’s how Laura feels. I’m sorry for your loss but I’m glad heaven gained a soldier. He has transcended as we all will but the beautiful memories will always stay. Love and light to all. ❤

Dear Laura. my heart goes out to you and your family, I am feeling your pain and heartaches with you. My father passed away on Veterans day back in Nov, he was battling Lewy body dementia and unfortunatley took its toll. I know what its like to lose a such a pillar of a man in your life. The pain is real and I have to say it is never easy to see all of the little things in remembering of our loved onesthat makes us cry and laugh, but the joy of knowing he is with God now, and that we will see each other again one day is the greatest. I know your grandfather worked hard all his life and loved his family to provide for, better there lives and to give back what God gave him. I have watched you and your family grow as a family through your channel, and to see your grandfather from time to time helping you and mentoring you to be the best that you can be. We will miss our loved ones, this is true, and it hurts deep inside. Just know that Papa Curt like my father are looking down and watching over us now, as one of Gods Angels. Remember the good times, always share the word of God, and never stop loving. Keep your chin up, and keep those pliars oiled and on your hip. Love and Big hugs from Ohio Scott

Your Grandpa came from the best generation ever in America. Reminds me of my own Grandpa, blind in one eye, but still able to hit a ten ring at 300 yards. owned the fastest car available in 1953, and provided dental services to anyone in town regardless of ability to pay. I guess they ate a lot of chicken, which was a bit of a luxury in the day. I learned SO much from him, things I still use today. The most important is empathy, you never know what the other person is going through. Thanks for the heartfelt video, brings a little bit of my Grandpa back to me.

Laura, sorry for your loss. I'm sure making this video was very hard, but it's a great tribute to your Papa Curt. As I attended my dad's funeral a bit over a decade ago, I relayed to a friend how much my heart ached. I remember his response well. He said that the depth of the pain experienced at the death of a loved one is an indication of the depth of the love we felt for them during their life. It's obvious that you had a deep love for Papa Curt, and equally obvious that he had a similar deep love for you and was very proud of you. It doesn't erase the pain, but it is wonderful to have the knowledge that you will one day be reunited. I remember an interview you did with him a few years back about his time in the service. He was very passionate and demonstrated a great love for both his family and his country--you are greatly blessed to have such a wonderful legacy. God Bless and prayers for you and your family...

So sorry for your loss, Laura. I made the mistake of watching that video while at my desk at work. That last scene made this 57 yr old Marine cry like a school girl. It was so obvious in that clip how proud he was of you and all you have accomplished. If you continue to produce content as if you were seeing it through his eyes, you will have tremendous success! Also, it was wonderful that you shared your faith, the way he would have. So glad to know that you ( and I'm sure Grant as well), know where you are going when you die. That's many years/decades in the future, but maybe you can plan a meet and greet when you get there. 😉

I began watching this channel because I could see just how deep your love of farming runs. Your enthusiasm and pure joy is infectious. I now see the origins of that love for farming. The traits you describe in Papa Curt are precisely the traits I saw in you when I first began watching your channel. I have always said that, when we lose someone in our life, they live on in us because we wouldn't be 'us' without their influence. You obviously took his teachings and his character and his work ethic to heart. Undoubtedly, Papa Curt is proud of you and Grant. Talk to him daily and ask his advice when you need it. He will always find a way to give you an answer. As long as you continue to follow your dreams, you will continue to make him proud.

While I do not have a farming background I spent many wonderful hours on my grandparents farm growing up as a child in the 50’s and 60’s. Thoroughly enjoy your videos. Best wishes to you and Grant as you begin your farming journey together.

What a wonderful tribute to your grandpa. He must have been an incredible guy, I'm very saddened for you over the loss of him. I've been watching your videos since almost the beginning, and enjoy them very much. You're an amazing farm girl, and I think you and Grant make a great team. Hey Laura. I am messaging from New Zealand 🇳🇿 I love all your posts here but never comment, this one really hit home with me. I felt your pain and loss, and send prayers and comfort to all your family in this time of sorrow. Your videos make me feel like part of your family and I have come to love your Papa Curt from the times he has featured, he reminds me so much of my own Papa who was very similar, he came through hard times as well. The "old shop" is just like my Papa's workshop, so much saved for the time it may be needed. You will find a lot of joy and comfort in the memories and things you see in the old shop, but there will be times when something you see or remember just hits you unexpectedly and the tears come again. But the great memories do long outlast the grief you feel, the sorrow will turn to joy, I promise. I am forever thankful to Papa Curt ,and all the veterans, for his service to ensure freedom for Americans and also for us New Zealanders as well.🙏🏽🙏🏽 Thank you so much for sharing this video with us all. God bless you and thank you for sharing your faith, and for Papa Curt, I do know where I am going when I die and look forward to meeting you there. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

I lost my 89 year old Dad last October. I'm 52 but I can tell you - coping with the loss of a loved one is hard at any age. My Grandpa died aged 70 when I was only 4 years old, so I'm thankful that you had much more time with your Grandpa than I did. As you and your family move forward, keep him with you in your heart and you can be thankful that he passed away in his own house with his beloved family with him. We all have to die some day and that it the best way in my opinion. I send you my prayers and very best wishes from the other side of The Pond in Southwest England. Take care and be strong.

Thank you for honoring our God, our Creator, and our Savior with your Life and this channel. My very close sister in law passed away yesterday at 55 from cancer with all of us by her side. We are also so thankful that she accepted Jesus as her Lord and savior and lived her life honoring Him. It was no accident that this video popped up for me to watch today and my tears continue....I pray your grief has passed and that God's strength will guide in your journey with Grant. Keep God the center of your life. And to God be the glory great things He has done. Amen!!!!

As soon as I saw the title of the video, I knew. I knew someone who meant the world to you had moved on to the other side where he no longer has any pain or suffering. I know how this feels and I know how difficult this is for you right now. Remember all the good times and never forget his love for you. Prayers to you and your family. ❤

I served in Viet Nam in 1969. We (Marines) provided security for a couple of months for the Seabees that were rebuilding a bridge around Dong Ha that the NVA or VC had blown up. Those Seabees worked from daylight to dark, although they were a crazy lot, I had much respect for them. Papa Curt is in the eternal light and love of our Creator. Thank you for sharing the Gospel to your viewers, you put a big smile on Papa Curt's face and made the Saints in heaven rejoice! Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, who is, and is to come!

Laura, I'm so sorry for your loss. I just returned home from spending a week with my younger brother. He had just received a diagnosis of and had surgery for a glioblastoma brain tumor. The prognosis is not good. I shared that he needed to keep his faith and he said he couldn't even read his Bible because of the vision problems he is experiencing. My wife and I went the next morning and got him a giant print Bible. He broke down when I handed it to him and said merry early Christmas. I know he has been reading and has thanked me several times. We have a lot of prayer warriors and family that are praying for him and his family and I will include you and your family in my prayers. May God give you the peace you need to get through your loss.

I have always been taught that a person’s worth is not in the material “things” we acquire; but rather in the lives we touch for the better. Judging by your Dad and you, your Grandfather brought more value to this world than 99% of people who have ever lived. Thank you for this beautiful tribute to him and for sharing it with your KZfaq “family”. Please know that my family and I will be keeping you and yours in our thoughts and prayers. We who are left behind feel the sadness of our loss; but just think of the joy in the reunion he is having with those who have gone before. Hold tight to your faith - you will see him again in the celestial home that has prepared for each of us.

You mentioned that Papa Curt touched your life in a lot of ways. I suspect now he's looking down and realizing how many lives you're touching in a positive way via KZfaq, and how his legacy is being shared with people around the world on a regular basis to people all around the world. I'm sure you've made him proud. Wishing peace and comfort to you and your family.
