I was leaving Barrett Jackson last week and jumped on the 101 West. After a mile cowering in the right lane I was passed by one of these squashed down amazing race/street cars loping along at about 80. It was blue perfection and the rear tires had to be a foot wide. Wow, I thought. Then some sort of yellow rocket sled went by. Squashed low with all sorts of cut and slashed body panels surrounding a nearly flat glass cockpit area. It orobably had 8 tail pipes in the center of the back and an enormous black wing. As I was marveling at the million dollars that just drove by another one passed me; then another! I was passed by ten of the newest most powerful amazing pieces of automotive engineering that the world has to offer. What a show and I have absolutely no Idea what kinds they were. I can spot a 58 Buick Roadmaster though.

A guy was traveling down the interstate doing 80 MPH in his Ferrari. Soon, a cop pulled in behind him and lit him up. The guy's heart started pounding faster and harder as he down shifted and he took it to 100. The cop caught up to him so he upshifted and went to 120 but the cop stayed right on his tail. Suddenly, he put on his turn signal, slowed down and pulled over. The cop walked up to his car and asked the guy, "What were you thinking doing 120 back there? Tell you what. It's Friday the 13th, I go off duty in a half hour and I don't need all the paperwork. If you can give me an excuse that I haven't heard before, I'll let you go." The guy said, "Well, officer, my wife took off with a cop last week. I thought you were trying to give her back." The cop said, "Have a good day, sir."

I had a guy come in one night, in an older Jeep, who ran out of gas about 10 feet from the pumps. I told him to put it in neutral and I'd push it up. He said nah, put it in 2nd gear, hit the key and cranked it the last 10 feet.

The joys of using an AI voicebot thing, unable to give us the nuances we have due to saying what was typed into the software. Didn't like the early AI voices, and still get the uncanny valley over the subtleties they still miss out on. And yes, getting to hear the cars would be soooooo much better than any generic computer voice-over.

These cars are fine on the track but driving in cities is not practical. In addition, with the exception of one electric car, these represent the pinnacle of gasoline powered engines. Electric and hydrogen powered vehicles are the future.

How many times have you driven across America? There's plenty of places on I-90 that this could be done. You just have to have a couple cars with radios to do it safely . Nothing but nothing for as far as the eye can see. But you will need to bring some fuel with you in one of the vehicles because at those speeds you will empty your tank quickly.

OK, a few things; This is a rather old report.There has been like 1.5 generations of hyper cars since this report the most are Gas/Electric. The E for big dig off the line...That said, There's no real reason for some of these Ultra complex $$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$ engines. Anyone can put in a 2000 to 5000 Hp crate engine from like 200 U.S. engine shops so why do you need a world's largest swiss watch under the hood? But that aside, how about some straight figures on what all these cars do in two basic ways: thece.t. and top end in the 1/4 mile or 1000 feet....and THEN the amount of G' of cornering force these "brilliant" designs are capable of.....😮 Tell us that You Tube Posters......

bs, why because of you will never ever find a road surface which will handle more than 300 miles per hour and the amount of g force required and aero as well just to keep the car level and streable as well, is totally insane full stop? Even bugatti said the car they built to exceed 300 miles per hour was very very hard to achieve, even with all that power and tech, so tell me, what a quad turbo viper with 3,000 hp, tell me which gears ratios are going to be used, which brand of tyres are going to be used without falling apart at over 300 miles per hour ( Before you answer that Drag racing tyre compound is only go of for over 300 + miles per hour once and thats for a 1/4 of a mile) Also what drag officiant ratio is the cars body going to be, Also how much downforce in relation to the HP to get to 400 + miles per hour? cheers and good luck with working out all these above facets before the car your saying is a reality? ✌✌👌👌👍👍🦘🦘

Good Point! Did you see the race between a F1 Indy Car and a I forgot what kind of bike. But it's a cafe racer. It's badass to watch they race from breaking to corners take off drag and switch each other's ride and drive it. Full race is below it. Guy that's driving the F1 is retired.
