When running that low its always either a solid plate or rails that touch before anything important, that way they can keep it so close to the ground that basically no air is allowed underneath. That helps downforce A LOT (that's why they have a rule for how low an F1 car can be, they don't want people breaking their back on humps at 300kph, but in hillclimb they never achieve such speeds so they have different height rules).

Hard as a rock. Notice the exhaust blowing the rear diffuser, he needs to map the engine accordingly to keep gases coming out under braking otherwise the downforce levels fluctuate causing pretty evident unbalance on corner entry. My two cents

@niklasostermann52496 жыл бұрын
Thomas Kwon actually it is good to have a car this low with this kind of turns. Deep car maximum downforce -> faster turns. This is not a highspeed track. Look at f1 in Monaco the setup is similar.
@TsunaXZ6 жыл бұрын
Niklas Ostermann Yep you're right, it's all about downforce.
@grande5215 жыл бұрын
This by all means it's not good, yes you need to maximize the amount of down force but this could actually get you disqualified in F1, that's why they have to race with a wood plank underneath that gets measured at the end of every race to see how much got "sanded" down
@lesterrivera70105 жыл бұрын
Alexis Maldonado Alexis Maldonado well good thing this isn’t F1. For the purposes of a hill climb the scraping is tradeoff you can live with because of the added downforce. You want to carry as much speed as possible into and out of the turns. I.e you want your car as low as possible. Clearly it works given how fast he went.
@cjriderboy9015 жыл бұрын
such scraping effects partly aids in serious late braking.

Is there anything Mercedes on that car apart from the badges that are from a production Mercedes?
@C42ST3N7 жыл бұрын
Yes the chassis. The kind of the same build as the 134 Judd from Georg Plasa (R.i.p.) and there is a build blog of this car.
@andrewwilson83177 жыл бұрын
The chassis? You need to go read up on it! Double wishbone suspension all round mounted to a space frames chassis with a completely no Mercedes drive train! Basically it is a full race car with the outline similar to a Mercedes silk! The bits of the Mercedes are not structural and all the outer panels are bespoke but similar in looks to production car.
