Plus the tape to strap it to the bottle, a tap that fits the straw. Around 3min to build the contraption if you are quick and organised. So the straw is the slowest, by far

That's how the gas pump knows the vehicle is full and stop pumping. When the air flow of the straw inside the nozzle gets blocked by liquid. Although tons of vehicles have a bottle neck from the spout to the tank. Slowing down flow causing the spout to fill up faster than it can pour into the tank. So the pump assumes you're full and shuts off when you only just started. NOTE: Flipping the nozzle upside down changes the position of the straw inside the nozzle [relative to the spout] from the bottom to the top, so the entire nozzle will have to fill up before it reaches the straw. Allowing the pump to keep pushing the gas until its damn near over flowing. Neat trick if your car causes the pump to frequently stop early.

No need for marshmallow, just use your tongue to block the straw. You can blow into the straw a little to achieve a faster time still. Alternatively, smash the bottle, fast empty and no tools required

If you think about it you should consider putting the straw in and blocking it towards the time to empty said bottle. So the vortex is definitely faster.

I've always poured sideways just enough to avoid air bubbles in the flow, increasing my bottle angle with the right timing so it has the max output. I probably won't ever use the straw method, but i'm interested to compare the vortex method with the way I've been doing it.

True but it's not the fastest way. If you tip the bottle so that there is a steady slow water flow while you have a steady air flow you might as well tip it up completely. Vortex using nothing but the bottle is the fastest method. Then of course using a straw its way faster but "where is a straw when you need it?"
