For the white backdrop I use a wide white roll-up blind. Super convenient to use when you dont have a specific photo station. Also really appreciate what you guys do for the community it helps a lot.

Thank you for your awesome videos and these tips. I save the time of transferring my pictures from my phone to my computer by doing the listings on the computer and saving them as a draft. I then complete the listing from my phone by adding the pictures. Works for me and saves me time!

IRL prepwork is part of the listing process, especially for shoes, and a place where most people get bogged down. Leaving those steps out of the video glosses over how long it actually takes to list shoes. I've been cleaning thrift store marker prices off shoes today with goo gone, and it adds to the time it takes to get shoes listed FR

Great video! I recently tried a new method of listing where I complete the bulk of the listing on my desktop and save the listing in a draft, then move to my phone to quickly take all the pictures. Not sure how many people do it this way, but it's really helped boost my productivity!

I work for a ebay store, I do work as Photographer, Tech, Returns and Customer Service. We use something called Kyozou to manage all our inventory, and listings. Our biggest struggle these days is Item Specifics, having endlessly to add unavailable information into our listings, to get the listings approved. I love these kinds of videos, because I always want to learn more. Thank you.

An Excellent tutorial for beginning listers! Also great advice for productivity and focus to avoid becoming overwhelmed. I don't know if I'll ever become a reseller, but can use many of these pointers to tackle the mountain of stuff left from my mom's passing. So great of you to take the time to share this with others!

Appreciate this info. I am enjoying your videos. Glad to run across this one. As one who is just getting their feet wet, its overwhelming. When I expressed interest to start an ebay store with others (family), I am now catching static as to why I haven't started yet.😳 An attempt to gain as much knowledge as necessary before I hit the "GO" button is hard for others to grasp. Literally watched your video for the first time last night, and before I did I was actually thinking to myself “How can I make extra income?” So I thought, “ hey, what about selling on eBay?” And When I watched your video I gained confidence to just go for it. I listened to what you said about selling things that I don’t want and just threw them up there to see what happens. Only have 3 items so far, but hey it’s a start. I’m also a vintage toy collector and I’ve chosen that to be what I want to sell. I actually pre ordered some figures, about $300 worth to see if I can make a profit by flipping them, have to spend to make money. Thank you for giving me confidence. I wish all of you luck that are just beginning. Don’t give up!!!

Who decides whether to charge shipping and how much to charge? (When they make up the listing, do they decide that also)? If charging shipping, is the amount set or is it going to be calculated by the buyer. If no shipping is charged, is the shipping cost rolled into the listing price of the item? Thanks.

On Ebay seller decides whether to charge shipping or use a fixed price. Ebay charges you the same final value fees on shipping and item anyway. If you charge for shipping you can choose set price or calculated shipping.

Ok everyone's concentrated on the video, I'm checking out that t-shirt. I likey. Great info. I started this process of putting small lots together, using banker boxes. When I empty one it goes to the top and I work on the next. I like the thought of someone else doing the listing with me only having to take pictures but not sure I'm willing to pay someone else 2 bucks a listing, but maybe someday. Thank you💜

I know it’s weird and unusual, but here are my feelings regarding shoes: I hate listing them soo much! To the point that I can only list 2-3 pairs at a time because I’m fed up. But I love cleaning them and making them look like new and I love packing them because I use shrink wrap and special shoe boxes and it’s like a Christmas wrapping session every time lol so yeah the listing is what I have no passion for.

Thank you for the square mode tip. I’ve listed thousands of things and always have an issue with scaling them right in a square. And I’ve always had an iPhone so I clearly haven’t been paying attention 🤣.

I hope more people aren’t distracted by producing listings for SEO; eBay is really very simple. It’s about having the right inventory and enough volume and patience to sell good things over time. The emphasis on all of these other systems is useless if you don’t have category expertise and know how to find valuable items to sell.

This is a great video with soooo many helpful tips!! This has given me the drive to dive into my "death pile", because I'd lost my momentum & drive because listing was so daunting (and nice to hear you even say that it is daunting & time-consuming.) I just tape two white poster boards together and use the top of my deep freezer in my garage for a photo booth. Sometimes simpler is better!

I have one recommendation for some of your viewers. You have way more experience than we do so correct me if I’m wrong. We have found that loading pictures from our phones is faster than loading to our computer. So the way we do it is we create a listing and maybe start a few things in the listing like the title for sure. We then save the listing and then reopen it in our mobile app and then add the pictures to the listing from the phone. Save listing again and reopen on the computer. All the photos are in the listing. The reason that we found this was better was because loading pictures to a slow computer or a slow Internet was a timely process. Loading directly to our phone then saving that listing and then returning to the computer was fastest for us. If you have a better way I’d love to know because I can only get maybe 15!items listed a day LOL

I'm one of those guys that doesn't use white background I post my stuff in the basement on my wooden desk and I like that background. And when I am buying stuff I usually do buy from people that don't use the white back cause it seems more like a real person.

Great Advice! I'm still super slow at listing, but I keep plugging away at it. Definitely helps to make smaller piles if you have a huge death pile. I do my majority of sourcing in the summer at garage sales, so by this time of year my inventory is overwhelming, but it sure is nice to have all of that stuff by the middle of winter when sourcing is limited.

I am fairly new at having a store...but I found I can create the listing on my desktop and submit it without pictures. Then go to my phone and click in the draft and add the photos from my phone. This saves a ton of time transferring photos from my phone to the computer.

I like sorting my deadline by type of item. I find photos and research is faster when I am listing 10 similar items (mugs, plush, etc).

A sheet, 2 desk lamps and a cell phone with a good camera that allows for manual adjustments can get you very good, clean white background photos. Tip: Use 1:1 square photos and apply a white border to each photo. Provides a cleaner border when the photo isnt 1:1 when viewed on ebay (like when viewed in the ebay app).

I started using them awhile back when they first announced them here. Their customer service is on point. I started with the small plan but the next day realized we had enough items to list in those categories to get the biggest package so I asked if I could upgrade to that package with the same discount and they did with no problem! I highly suggest saving the money and getting the biggest package the RALLIROOTS25 code. It's worth it with the math, it comes out to less than $2 per item. And, I usually only change 1 thing per listing so they do a pretty good job. Honestly though, don't give them any specialized items. Example, I gave them a vintage GratefulDead T and they listed at $80. I had Ryan consult with me on that shirt and he agreed it is worth way more than that. It sold for $250!! (Thanks Ryan! 😍) So always check the pricing and send them more generic stuff. 👍

You're right, if we can focus on the business rather than focusing on working in the business, we can grow faster (from the book "E-Myth Revisited"). SellHound is a great tool to use. But, we have a few people locally to photograph our items, we then take those photos and have a few people (in the Philippines) draft them for us on inkFrog. We just review & launch the listings at that point. We currently have 5,000 item listed in our store and the goal is to have double by the end of the year.

What you should also do is list similar items together.. first you do jeans, and within jeans you first do levis, etc. so you just keep clicking “sell similar”.
