@@fullmetaltheorist I love the idea of building new wonders in the style of the ancient wonders. Dude had a point when he said we don't build anything beautiful anymore. Even if they built the Colossus of Rhodes using modern techniques, I still think it'd end up being part of a euro-tour.

Fun fact about the original Colossus of Rhodes: Even after it fell, its ruins continued to be a tourist attraction. For the Romans, it was a fun thing to wrap their arms around the big toe of the Colossus to see if they can fully hug it. And the sheer amount of metal it contained made its looting a century long process. In the end, the final remains of the Colossus were raided by the Umayyades and melted to become coins.

Otherwise every second delinquent could claim a title of "original thinker". Heck - aren't we all had such ideas when we were young and angry? To leave a mark by breaking something? This man was incredibly bland. Its like pick random trader from the same age and say: "see? his idea of commerce lived on!". Commerce was before and would've been after regardless of any one trader. So is the idea of breaking stuff to take a name.

We have to remember Egypt was a living culture that changed over time We have enough archeological evidence that we can trace how Egyptian Tombs changed over the Millenium Their earliest form of burial was just digging a hole in the desert and laying a body in it with some grave goods. However they quickly found that this was not a secure way to burry someone with grave goods because looters could just dig it up and take everything. So next they built Mastabas, the earliest form of tomb building in Egypt. They were square and rectangular structures built out of mud bricks and later limestone, some resembled the bases of the later Pyramids. These proved to be a bit more secure and would go on to be used by non Royal wealthy people for much of Egyptian history. But the earliest were used by royals and all the royal ones have been picked clean by grave robbers over the past few thousand years. Pyramids were developed next. Building upon the foundations established by these earlier tombs in an effort to further thwart grave robbers, and while this worked for some burials of more minor royals ( for example the Tomb of Princess Neferuptah at Hawara, is a Pyramid that is 60 miles south of Cairo. It still had grave goods as late as 1956). The biggest ones however have all been looted over the past millennium. Early Pyramids and Mastabas share a lack of interior decoration, as well as oddly small sarcophagi. This is most likely because earlier Egyptian culture didn’t put much emphasis on it at the time. This continued looting lead to the development of Rock cut tombs in the sides of cliffs or deep in the ground. This style of Tomb lead to the creation of the Valley of Kings and proved to be an effective deterrent. As many of this style of tomb remained unmoelested to the modern day
