Well she's a big fan of the anime and manga before joining the live action and she said it in an interview that she knew how emotional it was so she putted her best to copy the subs version instead

Emily's screams completely nailed it, amazing actress- so grateful they handled "the scene". I wish they did some plot points different in the flashbacks but overall I freaking loved it

I never realized this before watching this episode over again...but Arlong tells Nami "One" of the villages is late on payment....it's crazy to think how many villages the gang rescued with the taking down of Arlong...they never really tell us that, but man they never wanna be called heros... but sorry gang ...your are heros.

Jinbei is mentioned in the anime at this time, oda really foreshadowed him here and he was the last warlord revealed lol

No. Me too. Emily as nami is perfect. Her acting is perfect and on point dont get me wrong. But still, i hate how the way the handled nami’s backstory. Nejiko not knowing it, gen suddenly lost his importance in nami’s life? I cant. The tatoo’s origin was for belmerre and gen as the parental figure. Also nojiko had her tatoo so she can be someone similar to nami and to support her. She did it so nami didn’t feel that bad for the arlong tatoo. Directing in the LA way make it lost the complete meaning of nami’s tatoo

yeah i still dont get that. even if they had to cut gen for time, why couldn't they just all have known like they did and kept quiet so Nami didn't feel like she had to keep doing this? that was an extra hard layer of heartbreak and heartwarming

They also didnt have hachi when hachi is important for sabaody and fishman island.. i dont mind un important role change like don krieg, but this.. 😭 it gave me mixed feelings for episode 7

Emily Rudd is an amazing actress, but she’s also playing the smartest and deepest character. Cunning and intelligent but also emotional. It’s beautiful to watch and enjoy this adaptation. Also, Luffy doesn’t hear about the rest of Nami’s story, the deal with Arlong, and he doesn’t care about the first part that he does hear from Nojiko

In the manga I feel like Belle Mere getting shot goes pretty fast. However, I am kinda sad we don't get the shot of her tackling Arlong with the rifle already shoved in his mouth, and him shattering the barrel with his teeth. That shot really sells for us that she's ex-marine, instead of just having to hear about it from characters.

@@KelShu in that case you have a problem with the story not the character. She didn’t know Nami’s plan. She did know in the Manga and the comics. So, she was supportive. In the LA they made Luffy know and Nojiko didn’t know. If Nojiko acted in any other way it wouldn’t have made any sense.

mixed feelings about fishmen being analogous to Black slaves and ussop having the sterotypical dad. Found out one of the directors is Black. Digging the representation but we got the bad stereotypes represented lol

I mean, Usopp is hardly the only one of the Straw Hats with messed up family background. They are all orphans and/or abandoned kids. "My parent left me as a child to go do their own thing" is very common on the crew. And the thing about Fishmen is that they are an entire race, Oda writes them from the most wholesome and loyal characters to the most despicable ones, like Arlong. That's just how people are. The same organization or group of individuals always has good people and bad people.
