The University themselves are not without blame. They should have put a number of their critical electrical energy needs in renewable energies. Most of the technologies the developed world enjoys come from their tertiary institutions! Solar water pumps exist. Biodiesel exists for running generators etc

University of Benin should have their own power generator or invest in solar power generate their own electricity.

It is an unfortunate situation. The FGN claimed they cannot subsidise Power supply, but they can afford to waste money on non essential items. As long as they fail to recognise priority spendings and they continue to mismanage scarce resources, we will continue to suffer. The policy to discriminate against Nigerians by creating different bands for electricity consumers will lead to suboptimal performance of the building blocks of the economy . Whereas they didn't invest in the power sector to warrant this kind of increase in prices

Of course their children are not affected, why should they prioritize education and essentials like power and water? We must take back our country from all those that have held it hostage!
