Zorg is one of the best villain in movies history. The great Gary Oldman performance with this character reminds me his sadic Norman Stansfield in León, but more grotesque. Anyway I think that The Fifth Element is the true masterpiece of Luc Besson

Zorg is so funny and iconic that we all just overlook how his plan makes no sense. How is he going to profit after the evil sphere thing blows up the whole universe?
@talthan12 күн бұрын
Zorg thinks he'll profit from the deal (either directly or because he will be protected from it, probably both). He's convinced himself destruction and chaos is morally justified, and the Great Evil is just more destruction and chaos. Zorg is such an isolated narcissist he does not even consider there will be consequences for him.
@EbonAvatar12 күн бұрын
@talthan But my point is that reasoning self evidently makes no sense and is so obvious that it strains belief to think anyone would buy it. But it's also true it doesn't matter in the moment because the character is so much fun
@BaronVonMott12 күн бұрын
@@EbonAvatar The obvious conclusion to draw then, is that Zorg is clinically insane - he's become so consumed by his greed and self-obsession that he's no longer thinking rationally. This would also rather nicely explain his manic energy, short temper and "eccentric" mannerisms as further evidence that he's losing his grip on reality.
@stiimuli11 күн бұрын
The simplest answer (other than a story plot hole) is that Zorg just doesn't know. He's been contacted by a mysterious entity that offers astronomical rewards in return for a few objects secured. There's no reason to think he would have any clue what the stones are or what cosmic consequences hang in the balance. All he "knows" is the massive pay day he's been promised.
@RoboChocobo10 күн бұрын
@@stiimuli Exactly. The straightforward answer is that Zorg doesn't know or believe the consequences will affect him. He likely thinks its just one more 'bad hombre' in a galaxy looking to cut a deal, not a threat to existence itself.
