The moment that kid asked "Why is it closed?" That just crushed my soul.

When visiting my childhood store this week my 7 year old son skipped through the store singing the theme song I didn’t know he knew.... brought a tear to many peoples eyes.

I used to go to Toys r us every month and I missed it.

Although this happened over two years ago, a small part of my inner child died while watching this Adam; the dissolution of every American kid's Shangri-la. Once again you managed to capture the mood aptly with both camera and narration skills. btw, you have a nice singing voice. Thanks for doing what you do. 💗

This was heartbreaking. Toys r us is my son's favorite store. Just in December they had a birthday party for the kids and they all got a story time , a free book, and a free Geoffrey plush. He's only three so i can imagine the memories of the store for parents with older kids.

Even though I haven't been to Toys R Us very much when I was a kid, it's still sad to see it go

For those of us who grew up in the 80's Toys R Us will always hold a special place in our hearts.

My store (7014) closed yesterday. Today was my last morning to work. Sad to see it go. I will miss it 😢

man i sent this video to my mom and she called me after watching it and was teary eyed, she said she remembers the first time she brought me to a toys r us when i was really young. Said my eyes were as big as dinner plates when we walked in and she let my little hand go as i ran off with all the other kids to play with and look at all the toys,she said we were there for at least an hour or so cuz all the parents were having fun too.We still have a Kmart here and I'm gonna take my daughter to the toys isles to mess with everything and get some random toys to play with today.We all need more fun in our lives,I'll never grow up always be a toys r us kid!!!

So sad... I'm 48 and can remember the smell of fresh toys as soon as those doors opened and the rush of excitement I'd feel knowing that I'd be getting something that I really wanted to play with. When I had my son in 95 I brought him as often as I could. So happy he got to have the same memories. It's hard to breath sometimes when I think of how our times are changing. Life sure was simpler back in the 70' and 80's. Thanks for doing this Adam :)

I'm sitting here with tears on my cheeks, shocked at how hard this hit me. Of course like everyone, I heard about it on the news, and it was just another bit of business news. I'm long past having any particular use for toy stores; the eldest kid is 31 and the youngest is 25. But seeing this first-hand, and Adam's narration, was a punch in the gut. I remember riding my bicycle to our local store when I had managed to save up a few bucks to see if there was a new "Micronaut" available or something like that. Ripping out the heart of our childhood, indeed...

Dang..that really stinks, I remember going there around Christmas time it was the best time ever! And the toy catalog every year..really going to miss going .."I don't wanna grow up I'm a toys r us kid!

So sad! The picture you showed at 8:07 came from my store just days before we closed in Nashua, New Hampshire. So glad my friend was able to keep the Geoffrey costume.

The Toys R Us I went to as a kid was closing at the time they made the announcement that all of them would close. I had to visit it one more time before it did and of course document it. I'm gonna miss those stores!

My son and I went and visited our toy's r us in Chattanooga TN the day after it closed. Someone layed a bouquet of flowers at the front door in rememberence. I'm not gonna lie, I got a little choked up. It's hard letting go of something from your childhood! Great video!

I remember taking my 2 older children there when they were small and having them pick out a video game or toy. Our Toys R Us closed 10+ years ago.

How sad. I bought a lot of stuff in those stores when my son, nephews and niece were much younger. RIP Toys R Us

Wow a great institution passes I remember toys r us back in the early 70s ..this was Charles Lazarus baby which he founded back in 1957 but really got big in the seventies.. Charles Lazarus just recently died in March I wonder what was going through his mind... About this sad time... Thanks Adam for this great video

Sad to see a great store close. I still have my name tag with Geoffrey Giraffe on it when I was an employee in the early 80's.

I don't have strong childhood attachments to Toys R Us because I was in my teens before we had one in my hometown. However I do remember a time when I would go in and find really old video game stock for super cheap. Like Sega Genesis games and what not just randomly marked down way after their prime. You just don't get deals like those any more. It was like they just lost stock and would randomly find something - like the time they had new Sega Saturns randomly.

I remember when I got my first Pokemon plush it was a glaceon. But sadly,I was crying because their closing I don't want to grow up, I'm a toys R us kid. I remember going there all the time and getting so many plushes. Don't worry toys R us, we will never forget shopping for you😿😿😿😿😿😿😿

Dang that’s my home toys R us in Burbank 😢 that’s where my dad bought me my first gaming console the Super Nintendo back in the early 90s and we celebrated with some sizzlers right across the street. It doesn’t get anymore 90s than that. Haha

I am in tears. Toys R Us made millions of kids happy. We will miss you, Jeffery, and thank you for making us happy. You will forever be in our hearts. I promise you I will never grow up, and always be a Toys R Us kid!

I went to a Toys R Us when there were like 2 weeks l3ft I went with my dad and older sister we bought suff and spent like over 100 dollars. I remember when we would always go there its just sad that they closed.Ive had this white cat stuffed animal from there also since I was small, and my grandma told me I love it so much.It got so dirty she even bought me a new one then when I got older I was looking through my closet and I found then I still have them and I love alot. Oh my god. This is my Toys R Us from my youth. This is the one I almost always went to when I was younger and even when I got a car I kept coming to this one. I went there on the 28th and they were announcing that they were closing up forever in 5 minutes when I walked in, so the timing of my final visit couldn't have been better.

I never went to TRU as a kid, KB Toys was my go to, but, my children grew up going to TRU and their faces would light up the minute they walked through the doors. It was a magical place for them and it makes me really sad that they aren't going to have that anymore. R.I.P. ToysRUs...

I’ve actually heard that a wealthy investor is trying to buy the rights and bring it back combining BRU and TRU together. It can happen, it did with Hostess (Twinkies!)

I will miss Toys R Us I used to go there and get my toys there when I was smaller and the video games they had and Barbie. I will always be a Toy R Us Kid even Babies R Us is gone too! Sears, JC Penny, Macy's Payless, Norstorm, Tower Records. Virgin Records, Borders Book Store, Blockbuster, Kemp Mill Records, Waxie Maxies Sam Goody, Its all gone! So many other stores are going out of business too! I hate what happening here! I hate 21 st century everything sucks now! There is nothing to do here.

This makes me so sad..I did go to Toys R us last week, 2 days in a row, and it brought such overwhelming sadness...Life has changed from when we were kids.. I guess we have to grow up afterall...

The one here in Leominster, MA was accessible on the last day. I didn't get last day footage (day 4, yes. day 2, one photo). There was just a couple shelves with stuff, and too many employees and people around to document the final day. Anything from this point onward is post-mortem now.

There are still 6 open in and around my city of Vancouver BC in Canada and they are all combi Toys r ys with Babies r us. They are exactly like the ones you have down there so if you feel really nostalgic then just come up here.

I never really went to toys r us that much for a toy store but I remember how sad it was for kids including me how toys r us was closed and finished

I used to work there and I'm sad that it closed! went in and the store was empty, bittersweet cause I used to stock shelves in that specific toys r us.

Hi Adam, yes I am sad to see Toys R us go out of business. I had good memories of buying Christmas gifts and toys. Mostly I bought a lot games such as Operation, connect four, candyland, LIFE, and monopoly games. Many more. 👍🏻😹

Man, so many memmories. Im 20, when I lived close to America I used to go every weekend to Toys R Us. Weird, I was never a demanding kid, I just loved going, watching and playing with what I could, never bought much, but loved the place. I haven't been there for like 8 or 9 years, now I will never. I am 57, so when I was a young chap there wasn't a Toys R Us. Sears, Penney's and Kmart were the place to buy toys, although these stores are rapidly disappearing as well. I freely admit that I am part of the problem. This past Christmas I did not buy a single gift in a bricks and mortar store.Everything I bought was from on-line sources.
