Finished my second watch since 2010 this past week. Cried like a baby at the end and I am not ashamed. When everyone started remembering... ugh I was just balling lol what a great show I think people have a hard time for some reason believing that everything that happened on the island, actually happened. I can’t stand when people think they were dead the whole time. That makes no sense!

Christian said it himself 'time has no meaning here' or something to that effect. So whenever they died in the past present or future, they wake up in this 'reality' living the lives they would have had the plane not crashed. Micheal became a whisper, and Walt probably STILL is watching over the island with Vincent. Which is why they arent there.

In the Flash Sideways, they are dead. They cannot remember each other until they are ready to move on. Desmond is on the plane because the Flash Sideways shows alternates to sets of events. For example Anthony Cooper is not a bad guy and it was Locke who made a mistake and got Cooper into a wheelchair. Similarly Sawyer says he had to make a choice between being a criminal or a cop and chose cop. In the normal timeline, he obviously chose criminal. Basically the Flash Sideways brings everyone who died together... They died at different times, but ended up there together at the same time. Because as Christian says, they now exist beyond time. For example, Boone died in Season 1 and Jack died in Season 6, but they reach this alternate reality at the same time. They continue to live in this alternate reality until they're ready to move on, which happens when they remember their past connections. The church door seems to be a point of no return, so once in, you commit to move on. Some people can't move on. Micheal says he's trapped on the island because of guilt of what he did. These are the voices which used to be heard. Ben choose not to enter the church, likely because Alex doesn't remember him, meaning she's not ready to move on. Hope this makes sense now.

Also, the purpose of the flash sideways was to show what was the survivor's purpose of being brought to the island. They were brought there to destroy the smoke monster so that the monster would not get off island and send everyone to hell. (Refer to Hugo's comment at the end of 6x9.) They were to protect the light, which is the gateway to other lives and heaven. ( Refer to Desmond and Jack conversation on 6x17.)

If the final episode is showing a time where everybody’s dead, where were the dead ones all this time? Not everybody died at the same time. Why were there (almost) only people that were on the island and no family members that are also dead? Why did they not remeber each other at first? What was Jacob, how did he get his ‘powers’ and what were his reasons for bringing people to the island?

I love this video. This is what I’m constantly having to explain to people all the time!! Especially when I tell them this is will always be my number 1 favorite series ... although 12 monkeys is super close in that regard. 12 monkeys has a more well written from the beginning type of ending, all mapped out, which I think Lost could have benefitted from that type of attention to detail, but STILL, has such a special place in my heart, I still rewatch the series, and that finale omg. I freaking LOVE it so much!! People who spread the purgatory lies prevent others from deciding to give it a watch. They think it’s been spoiled for them cuz they “all died in the end”. Like surprise bozos! EVERYONE ON EARTH DIES at the end of their lives. I love the way you explained this !!! Much love!!!

Good video dude! I think you explained the ending really well. I agree that it's very simple. I think a lot of people either overthink the ending, or didn't pay attention throughout the series. It's definitely a show that requires your full attention, but if you can give it that, the finale is a great send off.

Well said! Very clear and concise explanation. In essence, the "flash sideways" IS a flash forward - just a flash WAY forward. :-) It's funny, when I watched the finale live, I - like many - didn't care for the show's ending and resolution. But over time, I came to truly appreciate and even love the ending. It even became my favorite episode, and I learned to play the final scene's "Moving On" theme on the keyboard. LOST will forever be my favorite show. (And John Locke, my favorite character.)

Well said. I've been hearing about the potential for a LOST "reboot" (or, more accurately, "rejuvenation") lately. Damon Lindelof has stated that he wouldn't be a part of it but has no problem with a reboot. There have even been some stories floating around. One of them that I read online talked about a sort of "prequel" in which a bunch of people find themselves stranded on the island. The eclectic set of characters quickly find one another. By the end of the first episode (I think), viewers would realize that the people are all from different time periods when the island had jumped through time (but was no longer jumping...perhaps after the creation of the underground wheel). The new series would explore the deeper mysteries of the island that were ignored by the original series. In addition, one of the characters would be a young girl (with parents) from mid-21st century Canada who would grow up and end up being the "mother" of Jacob and the Man in Black. Apparently, there was an island caretaker at that time too. There were also inhabitants of the island already there. The origins of the Smoke Monster would be explained -- how the Smoke Monster is actually an evil entity banished to the island. It can only take the human form of dead people. When this happens, it assumes the form but also much of the memories are merged with it in its new form. In other words, the "Man in Black" was dead and the Monster assumed his form. It wasn't the Man in Black so much who wanted to leave the island (although those memories are there) but the Monster who wanted to leave in order to wreak something sinister and evil (even apocalyptic). I hope that this plot is partially true. In fact, I think that this is the only type of story that could actually work within the existing LOST universe/story. I've even read that the new show would explain why the mother killed people who landed on the island.

Great explanation and this was exactly what I thought happened. Although what was disappointing was the audience not knowing how they lived their lives after the island. In the last episode when Kate and Jack profess their love for each other, Kate leaves the island. Jack dies at the end but we don't know what happened to Kate in the real world,whether she married someone else or ended up with Sawyer. We know they eventually would of died but not how they lived or for how long. And in the flash sideways,all of a sudden Jack and Kate are reunited. What if she married in the real world?

I think that's what they wanted the audience to think for that entire season before revealing that it wouldn't even matter if these people lived completely different lives with different events. In the end, they would still need to move on from the same baggage inherent to their individual destinies. But love and faith are still there to help them move forward.

That's great - too bad that season 2, episode 18 presents the possibility (that cannot be refuted) that the entirety of Lost occurs in the mind of Hurley, who has been in a coma in Santa Rosa since long before the plane crash - the plane never crashed, man - it's all in your head, man. You're brain blew a gasket and you've been stuck in your own private Idaho, inside Santa Rosa. After all, the episode ends with a flashback to Hurley talking to "Dave" in the asylum, while Libby (also in the asylum) rocks in the background and SHE is the one who convinces Hurley (and us) that if Hurley jumps from the cliff, he would die in reality as opposed to waking up in Santa Rosa to the realization that "NONE OF IT'S REAL, MAN".

Why do they all work near each other? Why is sawyer a cop!? The flashsideways is actually just another life that is just as real as the life the Losties lived in the Island timeline. The flashsideways is not purgatory. It's another life in the vein of reincarnation. Jacobs fake Mother said in 6x15 that the light in the cave is life, death, and rebirth. Desmond told Jack in the final episode that when he goes into the light he will go into another life and that Desmond had seen Jack on Oceanic and it never crashed in that life. The flashsideways shows what the light is. What confuses people is the bomb blowing up at the end of season 5, but all that happened is a higher force that some call the Island moved the Losties from that moment and placed them back to 2007. I imagine what happened was that the bomb actually saved the island. The electromagnetism that was going to burst out the ground was going to be catastrophic, but the bomb, in my opinion, did something to where the electromagnetism didn't kill people like Radzinsky and Dr. Chang because they built the Swan hatch. Also, the bomb reacted with the electromagnetism so that the Dharma Iniative could have time to build hatch. The purpose of the bomb was to get Jack to stop fixing things on his own (Jack was blowing bomb up to change the past) and to learn to let go and eventually have faith in Jacob. That faith is what led him to know that that dynamite in 6x7 with Richard would not kill him. Jack needed that faith to face a being like the monster. Why was his purpose to destroy monster? So the monster wouldn't get off the island and take humanity to hell as Hugo tells Richard in 6x9 and so humanity wouldn't cease to exist as Widmore told Jin in 6x10. The monster wanted to prevent humanity to reaching heaven, which happens after you reincarnate so many times. So the purpose of the flashsideways shows why it is important to kill monster, which is the Losties purpose to come to the island. Also, the flashsideways reveals the higher power many call the Island. Actually, the Island was a red herring for God. That's why you see all those religious symbols in the church. If you pay attention especially in the first 3 seasons you will see clues about a god being the higher power in the show. In 1x4, Jack says they need to burn fuselage. Sayid is against this and says they should take people's religions into consideration due to getting rid of remains. Jack says we don't have time to sort out everyone's god. Charlie then says I thought we were all just made of time. This is also a reference about Mother telling Jacob and MIB that all mankind has a little bit of the light from the cave inside them. The light is time also. It is what Mother says, "It's life, death, and rebirth." Also, Ben tells Jack in 3x5 that he thinks God brought them to island. In 3x7, Karl was brain washed and the screen said God loves you as he loved Jacob . This shows Jacob worked for God. Another clue is Illana said that Jacob was the one who was in the shadow of the statue. What was the statue? An Egyptian god! There are more clues throughout show, but for the last episode there were clues. After Jack became new Jacob, Sawyer asked what did the burning bush have to say? In same episode, Rose said to Desmond that only God knew when they were. At the end of the show, in the flashsideways, Jack realize d he was dead. However, Richard told him that he was dead and in hell on the island in 6x9. Keep this in mind and refer to season 1 and you will see evidence of previous lives. Rose says in the first episode that the monster sound sounded familiar. Maybe from previous life? If you think I am exaggerating. In 1x9, Nadia wrote to Sayid that she will see him in the next life. Michael also tells Jack he was a construction worker in a previous life. In 4x11, 6 year old Locke showed signs of being in a previous life. He drew the monster and Richard put things out before Locke and asked which of these are yours already. I believe Richard said Jack was dead on island because Jack died in previous lives. This is why flashsideways is not purgatory. Jack says to Christian that he died because he is remembering his past lives before going to heaven. Another fun thing to point out is that Christian told Sawyer in flashback in 1x16 that they were in hell. Rewatch show and you will see these clues plus more.

@Family Friendly Daddy Blog - you're absolutely spot on 100% with your explanation here of course. I'd just like to add that if you're not religiously empathetic in any way, then you may not appreciate how the whole thing concludes. Damon Lindelof has been reluctant to explain that he intended to say that they all moved on to Heaven at the very end because he was concerned that that would upset the atheists. Also, the generic stain glassed window showing many different religions was him trying to be unbiased and not move the meaning of 'Lost' towards any particular religion. To this day, I don't believe he has said what he REALLY meant had happened at the end, but personally, I think Lindelof is a Christian and his intention was to show that they all moved into Heaven at the very end of the final episode.

When Jack sees his Dad in the flashsideways, it lost people when Jack said he died too. People automatically thought the flashsideways was purgatory. The flashsideways was not purgatory because Richard told Jack on the island that Jack was dead in that timeline. This happened in 6x9. What I mean is that the flashsideways is just much a life as the island timeline was and there were previous timelines or lives before the island timeline. Here are examples. In the first episode, Rose says the monster sound was familiar. Maybe because of a previous life? Michael tells Jack in season 1 that he was a construction worker in a previous life.If you think I am taking that out of context, Nadia writes to Sayid in 1x9 that she will see him in the next life. So multiple lives is a thing on the writers minds even in season 1. In 4x11, Richard visits 6 year old Locke and asks Locke after putting out items on the table which items is his ALREADY? Seems Richard is trying to see if Locke remembers something from another life. Maybe that is why Locke drew the monster at age 6. Remember Desmond told Jack in the final episode that entering the light will take him to the flashsideways. And Mother told Jacob in 6x15 that the light is life, death, and REBIRTH. This shows the light leads to multiple lives and that the flashsideways is not purgatory.

Sorry, but all your points are invalid. 1- Richard told Jack he is dead and they are in hell, because that's what Richard thought at first when he came to the island. The whole Richard epiosde was about explaining Richar's tragic life and how he was manipulated by Smokey to think he was in hell and he had to kill the devil (Jacob). When Richard told Jack theybwere dead, it was Richard's moment of weakness out of frustration for having a long life and not knowing what the purpose was. I mean the whole Ab Eterno episode is about explaining Richard's mental state at that time, so how could you forget the entire episode and stick to one sentence he said and build your whole hypothesis on it? 2- Rose says the Monster's sound is familiar because the mechanical ticking sounds are very similar to some sort of Taxi meter ticketing in New York where she uswd to live. It was sirt of an inside joke of the showrunners because they actually used the Taxi meter thing sound to produce the monster sound effect. There's nothing else to read in to that. 3- Micheal saying he used to work in construction ... so? I am not sure he says the words "in a previous life", but if he did, it's a figure of speech, we all use these terms when talking about something in a distant past and we changed a lot after that period. 4- Nadia telling Sayid see you in the afterlife... well, yeah? That's what most religious people believe. That when they die, they pass on to some afterlife.... which is EXACTLY what the show ends up doing. 5- Richard tells young Locke "what items belong to him already", is because a few years earlier, older Locke visited him in the other's camp in 1954, and told him he will be born in a couple years. Thus sending Richard on a quest to find out who and why Locke is special and if he has to get him to the island. Saying Which items belong to you already, is becaise Locke ALREADY appeared to him... again, you are taking figures of speech which are used cleverly in the show to give us hints and what Richard is thinking, and making them to mean something else entirely in order to fit a very unlikely hypothesis. Finally, I have no idea why some people like to create some theories that don't fit at all with what the show actually tells us, in literal terms. I mean Christian spells it out yo Jack at the end, uou are dead everybody is dead, some before you so long after you... and this place has NO TIME (i.e. is not a normal timeline event), and now that we found each other, we LET GO AND MOVE ON. It's simple easy to understand, explained multiple times by the showrunners themselves.... But hey, everybody is wrong, let's just see what Rose said in S1 Ep1 about the ticking sound... even though that was the PILOT episode, and the showrunners themselves still had no idea if the show will be green lit for production, and when they themselves still haven't made out what the ending will be with 100% precision.

you are absolutely right sir, thats how i interpreted it too but i have one more question...did the bomb they threw into the hatch in Season 5s finale actually do something? I sent them somehow back in the present, but i always thought that THIS change in the past also caused the "parallel" dimension and allowed them to reunite with everyone in the "afterlife". Or didnt the bomb have anything to do with the side dimension?
@chaitanyachaitu2020
@chaitanyachaitu2020 5 жыл бұрын
great question, I'll just share my point of views 1. the bomb they threw in the hatch did go off after Juliet hitting it with a rock repeatedly and it was the incident that was mentioned in the show that happened in the year 1977 and before dying, Juliet said it worked because she believed that she stopped the incident by causing the bomb to explode. 2. the bomb didn't go off and they traveled through time while Juliet is hitting the bomb with the rock repeatedly and Juliet believed that the bomb exploded right before the white flash appeared and brought them back to 2007. now to the important thing is they already mentioned that no matter what we do we can't change the past, whatever happened, happened. the only thing that bomb did was confuse Juliet to make her believe that they changed the past but in reality, that's what happened from the beginning and that was the incident they were talking about on the show the bomb did what it was supposed to do, most of the people thought that the incident was releasing electromagnetic energy at the Swan site or the bomb blast caused by jack and the group but in reality the incident was both the things they mentioned, first there will be a leakage in pocket of energy and then the bomb blast. this is just my point of view though, the bomb might not have set off or maybe it did but whatever happened is what it was supposed to happen in 1977
@pepcool110
@pepcool110 5 жыл бұрын
@@chaitanyachaitu2020 sounds plausible, this "parallel dimension", their afterlife would have happened no matter what. It probably had nothing to do with the bomb. And whatever the bomb had an effect doesnt really matter, maybe it was the incident, maybe it wasnt. I think it simply sent them back to the future somehow, because of uuuh the island lol I think Juliet believed it worked is because she was dying at that moment, maybe she "jumped" back and forth from the afterlife to the real life, and so she believed she saw their alternative life.

@@pepcool110 I agree with most of your argument, what happened in 1977 at the swan hatch was supposed to happen, the electromagnetic energy did leaked and they threw the bomb in the hatch too and this is what happened in 1977 and that is what supposed to happen too, that is the past and no matter what we do, we can't change it as per the show but Christian Shepard actually mentioned that they created a place where everyone from the island could meet like a sanctuary or something in afterlife and it is highly unlikely for Juliet to travel to afterlife and come back from the dead and remember it, Juliet words might not mean anything as the show we're talking about is "lost" and they obviously left out many things unanswered and mysterious LoL

@Lincoln I don't think that was the real Walt but merely the island showing those who was him what it needed them to. It couldn't be Walt's ghost of Walt wasn't dead. Kyle&s answer, is sufficient.He's not saying Walt wouldn't go on to the good afterlife, just that he didn't hold enough significance with the rest of the group to spend eternity in fellowship with them. He basically relinquished ties with them, even his own father, as evidenced with the scene with Locke after the island. Also, you have to realize that Walt was only an innocent child for the beginning of the series. We don't know what type of life he went on to lead or the state of it when he died.

1) nothing in the Sideways timeline is real, except for the main characters. they're living a normal, somewhat idealized version of the lives they'd like to have. I guess part of that is Charlie having family members who care about him. 2) it's just part of this fictional purgatory-like world they're in, and having the baby is what helped her to remember her real life 3) once Locke remembered his real life, he was able to walk again

great explanation. I enjoyed the first couple seasons of lost. after the third season I felt like they were creating wildly more questions than answers however, and it really started to feel like a chore to try to make sense of everything, which i see only as a failure of the writers and directors of the show. the fact that (guessing here) at least 95% of the avidly watching fans misunderstood the ending to me is not their fault. this is the principal failure of the show.

The flash-sideways is real. This much is said to be true by Damon and Carlton post series finale in interviews. It is not "purgatory" or limbo or the afterlife. It is just as real as the flash-backs and flash-forwards. A real timeline. People only get hung up on that last episode because of Christian coming back from the dead and Jack's son disappearing. But in Jack's mind, he's dying. What we see are his memories and mind bringing everyone together (including Christian). His life "flashing before his eyes". When Jack and everyone are engulfed in white light, Jack's eye closes and he let's go. Simple. It's a mixture of his memory and dying mind bringing everyone together before his mind dies. And of course they wanted to give it a spiritual touch so they ended it with everyone in a church. That's it. But maybe someone can answer this. Rose on the island wore her husbands ring around her neck and she specifically says she wears it because her husbands fingers get swollen while flying. So she always wore it around her neck for safe keeping until they landed. Yet, it all her flash-backs, it is never once around her neck... How do you explain that?

I heard this theory, but right before Juliet dies she says, "it worked." He then says "I'm not going to talk about what OUR INTENTION is." Clearly.
@bafmd
@bafmd 3 жыл бұрын
@@shaungerald23 Ok, you're not hearing him correctly. I'll try to explain, see if we're on the same page. You say that the flash sideways is real. It is real in the sense that each character experiences it, but only after their deaths. It is not real in the same sense as their real lives, when they were alive and experienced time on the island. Damon says, "The flash sideways, where nobody knows each other, and the plane never crashed. That is whatever your interpretation is, I'm not going to talk about what our intention is, but that's what you would define as, 'not having happened'. But everything we ever showed you, anything that takes place on the island in LOST, happened." When he says "your interpretation", he's talking about people's individual interpretations of what limbo or purgatory or afterlife would be. He's saying that they were not going to force viewers to believe in one specific version of what limbo or purgatory should be. The interviewer thinks that none of it happened, that they were dead the whole time. Damon is telling the interviewer, that it all happened except for the flash sideways. The flash sideways is "what you would define as not having happened." The interviewers' definition of not having happened is them all being dead. So Damon is correcting him and saying, the island is when they were alive, the flash sideways is when they were dead. So, again, even though the flash sideways is when they're dead, it doesn't mean it wasn't real. They experience it, just after death. Your theory of the whole flash sideways being Jack's mind is incorrect. Jack never knew Nadia, why would his dying mind see Sayid, his brother and Nadia's story? He never saw Charlie's "Not Penny's boat", so why would he dream Desmond see that on Charlie's hand when he forces the car into the water. Why would he see Desmond and Widmore's interactions? Jack never knew Mikhail, why would he dream about him? There are a thousand more of these examples. The answer is, he wouldn't. The flash sideways is not in Jack's mind. It's a separate storyline that takes place after Jack's death. I can understand the confusion a bit, especially since the church door opens "at the same time" as Jack closing his eyes and dying. But we only see that in the non-linear timeline of editing the show. In reality, they meet at the church and move on, way past the events of the island and Jack's death. I think part of the problem is that the term "flash sideways" got coined and is still used. I mean, I still use it. But it was a way to through the audience off. It's more accurately a flash forward. It happens after they're all dead. We know that Claire, Kate and Sawyer all leave the island on the plane. They go live out the rest of their lives and die their own deaths somehow, someway. Hurley and Ben stay on the island for some amount of time, and then eventually die too. Once they're all dead, they meet up in the "flash sideways" and move on to the afterlife together. You also mention Christian in the church at the end. This scene is by far the best reason to recognize what the "flash sideways" is. He spells it out for the audience. Here's a link to that scene. I recommend you watch it carefully a few times. "Where are we dad?" "Well, this is a place that you all made together so you could find one another....to remember, and let go." kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mrJiaa5nuZmtf6s.html&ab_channel=GeorgeFinch Hope this helps.

I understood the ending but was frustrated since it didn’t answer some key questions. It made the Walt storyline so special then after he left the island we saw very little of him. The writers should have brought him back to island 🏝️ when Jack, Kate, Charlie, and Ben returned. I am sure he could have gotten a fake passport to travel back. Then the show showed Michael still trapped on the island 🏝️. He didn’t mean to kill anyone but was trying to get his kidnapped son and nobody knew in the hatched they were being watched and the Others had spies in both camps. Parents will do desperate things for their children and Michael already lost his son once to his ex girlfriend he supported while she was in law school, but after graduation she moved overseas to prevent Michael from seeing Walt which was extremely cruel.

Just because we saw a plane for a few seconds doesn't mean we should assume they were all dead...i have no idea how people reach that far? Agree with most of it, ALTHOUGH . . . 1. Everything on the island happened; after all it was a sci-fi/fantasy show. 2. The last episode is about the acceptance of death. when you accept the peacefulness and tranquility, you'll move on with those you loved during your existence; none of the problems and fighting matters, only the journey you shared. 3. Heaven and time are infinite; it doesn't matter when you come to term with life, death and existence, your love ones will be there to greet you. 4. The island still awaits "lost" souls; people who needed something to live for, beyond just themselves; they needed to learn to share life's hardships and journey, and not go it alone.

And we never actually saw how Sawyer, Kate, Claire, etc. died, yet they were at the Church because in the Afterlife (or Purgatory, or whatever you want to call it) time has no meaning. It's why in Christian religions we say God is "All Seeing", "All Knowing", and/or "Beyond Time and Space". Everyone also sees each other as they remember them on the Island, which is why Aaron is an infant in "Purgatory". He got off the Island and grew up, as did Ji Yeon.

No, it didn't kill them, nor - technically - did it end up preventing the incident. Despite what they expected, by detonating the hydrogen bomb to counteract the pocket of energy, that action ended up BEING the incident (or at least part of it). However, what they did was necessary. Without it, the pocket of energy that the Dharma Initiative tapped into (the electromagnetism that was sucking everything metallic in, pulling Juliet in in the process) would presumably have destroyed the whole island - much like would've happened with the hatch at the end of season 2 if Desmond hadn't employed the "fail-safe" device. So what Jack and the others did with the bomb ended up being the incident or part of it - but it saved the island. Meanwhile, it didn't kill them, but rather returned them to their proper time 30 years in the future. I believe Richard told some of the others that he saw them all die 30 years ago. In reality, Jack, Kate, and the rest vanished when the bomb went off, and so everyone logically assumed they were killed (vaporized or something).

Michael's fate was explained in the conversation between Hurley and Micheal in S6, he said he's one of the people who CAN'T MOVE ON, because of the guilt of what he did. So he is stuck in between worlds, thus couldn't be reunited with the others in the church. However, we see in the Epilogue, that Hurley and Ben (now island protectors) ask Walt to come back to the island (to potentially replace Hurley), and also to HELP HIS DAD even though he is dead. Meaning probably Walt helps Micheal move on in his own sideways timeline. As for Echo, the actor was killed off in S3 because he didn't want to do the ahow anore because he hated living in Hawaii where the show was shot. So they couldn't bring him back. But in the episode where he dies, the last image of the episode is Echo and Yemi as children, hugging each other and walking in to the sunset. Perhaps that's their own purgatory aideways timeline, as Echo's greatest attachment was mostly to his brother.

What about the theory that if they blow up the island, the island will not be there in the first place and no one would end up on the island. Juliette hit the bomb and blew it up. After Juliette died Miles told Sawyer Juliette said it worked. The sideways event at the church was was them meeting up to move on to their previous lives. When they walk through the door that existence will have never happened. They will still be alive living their lives, never knowing anything else had happened. The flight doesn't crash. What ever was going on in the lives of the travelers will not change. Regarding getting off the island Sawyer said to Kate something like there isn't nothing worth going back to. They would be better off staying. Rose was dying of cancer. On the island she survived. She didn't want to leave the island. They died but, I don't think they died, the flight never crashed. Ben said dead is dead you don't get to come back from dead. For every rule there is an exception. I think it was Jack, it might have been Locke, who said on this island we are all getting a second chance. Best case scenario the people on that flight land alive and things eventually work out for the best for all of them no matter what the difficulties they would be facing.

My question is how did sawyer kate claire and leopidis get off that Island on the plane without knowing the bearing? Would they not have had "side effects" like they guy on the freighter said? Also when Micheal says the whispers are the dead trapped on the island then how come there are whispers before John and Shannon see walt in the jungle after he's left the island? Also if hurley was immortal for taking on the role of Jacob, I wonder how he died?

It kills me that so many people still don’t understand the ending of Lost, I was a stupid 18 year old when the finale aired and I got it on the first viewing, the whole “they’re dead along thing” just makes me facepalm

Why would they need to remember if they didn't forget first? With the alternative events happening it makes more sense that the act of purgatory would be remembering what actually happened since the reiterated that they couldn't change what happened in the past. I don't think they died in the plane crash but purgatory and the alternative timeline could be the same thing and moving on would ultimately be the dharma initiative in truth if your into Hinduism.

The flash sideways and only that part is purgatory up to the moment Christian shepherd opens the doors then that is them moving on to the after life

My only doubt is about time travel and the bomb. After the bomb detonation in 1977 they come back to present, namely 2004? Or did the bomb go off in the first place? And what's the effect of the bomb and in what year, 1977 or 2004, the bomb had its effects?

The only question I have is what actually happened to Christian’s body? I know MIB stole it but he still has a body right? He stole Locke’s body but we still see Locke dead in the coffin.

Why all of them are exactly the same age after they died as they were at the island?

I thought they all died in some point of life and reborn again in the same physical form and they remembered their past life when they all met together.

Great explanation, so just to confirm... - what happened on the island, HAPPENED. - flash sideways did NOT happen in reality, it was in fact the afterlife years after they all died? - “moving on” and the church scene, was this showing them moving on to a sort of heaven after the afterlife? I just assumed the afterlife WAS heaven. - What the hell happened to Vincent? Lol - Surprised Richard wasn’t in the church either
