So glad I found your channel man. I’ve changed from a typical PPL to doing biceps with chest and triceps with back, doing them much earlier in the workout and sacrificing some volume from the rest of my lifts to increase it on my arms. It definitely feels good to have aligned my training and my goals.

You ever tried the seated tricep machine? (The one that’s essentially a preacher machine in reverse) I just started using it (single arm so it doesn’t turn into an Ab exercise) as I was tired of waiting 20-30 minutes for the sole smith machine in my gym to do JM’s, which I’d also already been doing for months. It seems to be essentially the same arm-path as a JM and I’d argue allows for a potentially better stretch. The arm pads afford you more stability along with a neutral grip. I was just curious as to your thoughts on such a machine, I know everyone and their mother likes to rip on it
@BasementBodybuilding

Hello! I'm trying to lose weight at the moment and I'm in deficit. My biceps have been stuck at 16 inches for a while. I don't know why they aren't growing. I usually do PPL. I know, people say it's difficult to gain muscle in deficit but some KZfaqrs have said you can grow and lose fat at the same time. I recently started doing the nuclei overload to see if anything would work. Any suggestions for me? I usually keep the exercises simple I don't do those fancy Instagram workouts. Simple curls, with a barbell, dumbbells, rope pull down, etc.

How long did it take you to go from 16" to 17"? I measured my arms for the first time yesterday and they were just over 16" with a bicep pump. I'm excited to chase 17" now, but just curious how long it took for you to get there?
@Zaeyrus
@Zaeyrus 2 ай бұрын
BB, currently I have started focusing on the biceps a lot and I am doing similar stuff as I can see you doing, one question, on the preacher curl how low should I go with the bar? Should I lock out my elbows or stop before that point? Tried both, a lot less reps with the strict lockout
@Vagachad
@Vagachad 2 ай бұрын
get a full stretch, start with light weight
@user-pk9jh9ie7d

i would argue that you should lock out if it doesnt cause pain (more time in stretched position), but lets wait for mister basement opinion
@BasementBodybuilding
@BasementBodybuilding 2 ай бұрын
I like to go for the full lockout, for standardization and because it guarantees you go through peak resistance. If you try to stop at parallel, more room for error, you might not be getting low enough to maximally challenge the biceps

Not sure, depends on the level of pump. Probably about 18 if I’m in the basement. In the commercial gym with heat maybe a little more. But if I trained for the pump, in a warm gym, I don’t think adding close to an inch is uncommon

Hey, I don't get why "flat" resistance profile of preacher curl machine is worse in your opinion than lengthen-biased profile of bar preachers. My understanding was that when you say "flat" it is essentially best of the both words of shorten and lengthen biased, which means that I get good resistance in both shorten and lengthen positions. Now I'm confused 🤔
@BasementBodybuilding
@BasementBodybuilding 2 ай бұрын
Good question, so muscles will be stronger and weaker at different positions, and the biceps are weaker in the contraction typically, so a flat resistance profile actually makes the movement short biased in a way

If you’re really tall maybe, but otherwise I doubt it. Your arms look impressive, but I guessed 18 or so inches. Though that’s because its on a camera, with no frame of reference. That means the rest of your physique is so big it makes your arms look small. People probably think you’re a freak in real life. I don’t think there are insertions that could make you look smaller in real life, humans are good at judging size irl.
