If there's one thing this series has taught me, it's this: No, Richard Petty was not the driver he once was - and neither was Petty Enterprises tbh - but if the engine held together, if Richard himself could go the distance, and if he didn't get swallowed up in someone else's accident, he'd usually still be good enough to get the 43 into the top 15-20. There are Cup teams today that would LOVE to have a driver that could deliver that kind of result on a weekly basis. Makes you wonder what could have happened if a higher-tier team (Hendrick, Junior Johnson, etc.) were the ones fielding the 43 car from '86 to '92...

Wow! This was a great series! I became a Petty fan in the late 80’s cause my parents got me a toy 43 car and I wanted to see it on TV. When I discovered he wore a cowboy hat and boots (I’m a ranch kid) he instantly became my favorite I knew nothing of his career at the time. The resurgence of PE in the 90’s happened while I was in high school. Learning about his career also led me to become interested in the history of nascar. If it was for Petty racing those twilight years I would of never become a Petty fan or a nascar fan. I still support the #43 and the rest of the race team to this day.

The King's Final Crusade! Long live the King! But Richard would make it clear that he wasn't going anywhere, he stayed in the sport as a car owner and as an ambassador to the sport.

I’m thinking Bill Jr hand delivered that restrict or plate to Petty’s garage at the last Pepsi 400.

Yeah I know the audio isn’t the best lol. I recorded the dialogue for this back in October but my laptop crashed while I finishing editing it and I lost the original dialogue and had to record it again 😂

Of he came back in 89 and went to mclure or hendricks and rick wilson went to stp he could have gotten a coiple more wins with better equipment

8:31 Kyle Petty needs to have that win revoked. He intentionally dumped Dale Earnhardt AND Davey Allison and caused Allison to get hurt. It could've been a lot worse for Davey or Dale at those speeds too
@NascarNick2488
@NascarNick2488 Жыл бұрын
It actually wasn’t intentional. If you watch the final lap, Kyle took the air off Dale’s spoiler and Dale got loose and spun and then coming to the finish, that was just door to door racing and they made contact and Davey unfortunately got the worst of it
@codyC423
@codyC423 Жыл бұрын
@@NascarNick2488We'll agree to disagree here. You can clearly see Kyle make contact with Dale's left rear before he gets loose. It also was more of a snap oversteer like he'd been bumped vs the car slowly stepping out like it got aero loose. Either way, I've watched this series since the first video, awesome job man, you've earned another sub! Keep up the great work man

Davey still won the race! He just got spun backwards! Kyle still finished 2nd.

Bruh this was awesome and hard work, well done my friend. I'm just curious if you got to do something similar on other drivers last years in competition like Darrell waltrip or something like that

@@Mxpositive48 possibly but if I do a series for Waltrip, I won’t do his final year in 2000 because Brock Beard already did Darrell’s final season in full detail and it’s a great watch if you haven’t checked it out

In my opinion, he should have retired after 1987 or 1988 but run a limited schedule from 1989-1992. That way, the season finale at Atlanta can still be memorable for it being his last race and Jeff Gordon's first race and the battle for the Winston Cup championship between the late Davey Allison and Alan Kulwicki and Bill Elliott
