Here I am in the workshop completing this students exercise for him after he unfortunately had to quit the course. So rather than take it down, I took the opportunity to complete it as an example for others.

Excellent skills, they are not taught today. Many younger guys can't build a manhole as they've not been shown. FACT but there is good skills among them. But its a different attitude. Keep up the good videos.

Hi Rob. Our small company in Oregon is a big fan of your work. You're truly an amazing craftsman. Did you lay the brick under the circular frame with it in place or did you use another method for laying those and the place the frame in later in order to go over the top? I'm assuming that it was laid in place but, just curious. Thanks for all of your videos! I learn new things from you all of the time!

the lower section is laid using a trammel then the window is placed in for the top arch to be laid. Please watch the Premiership Bullseye I did, it has more detail for a Bullseye. thank you for watching

@@robsonger1 Great! The twisted spiral arch is absolutely amazing and is on my bucket list of learning how to do. Have you put out any videos of how you got your start in masonry and how you learned how to do those unique designs and layouts? If not, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would really enjoy hearing how you got to the level of craftsmanship where you are now. Did you work with an amazing craftsman during your early years or was it mostly self taught?? Anyway, thanks again for the time and effort putting out these videos! They are truly fascinating! Take Care!

In a real situation at least anytime I did a round window it was already on the house but I guess that's why rob is so impressive cus doesn't need the window their already like the rest of use

I don't understand why bricklayer in the uk don't have spacing rules like we do in the US they are always using a tape measure or making their own Guage rod I asked the KZfaqr Andy why he doesn't use them he said their bricks are a different size so the spacing rules we have wich their are 3 different ones for different size bricks don't work with their bricks
@robsonger1
@robsonger1 11 ай бұрын
we often use gauge rods, occasionally storey rods but they are always on houses or extensions. On smaller/intricate works then its a tape measure all day long..

How much did you multiply by PI to get the right amount of courses around the circle? Answer: He doesnt know what Im talking about.
@robsonger1
@robsonger1 Жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, I'm not sure your question is quite worded correctly. I use Pi on my twisted work, for a simple Bullseye or an arch the gauge is spaced on a battern as seen in this video.

Kevin colt or should I call you Karen please stick to posing with your Ferrari and leave the appropriate comments to the people that truly appreciate and understand what it means to be a professional bricklayer I served my apprenticeship way back in sixties at Salisbury tech College Salisbury wilts while working for local builder lucky enough to get to do some restoration work for listed buildings that gave me a true insight into what is commonly known as bricklaying iv traveled extensively throughout Europe and seen first hand the outstanding quality that is achieved by some people I can truly say rob songer is right up there with the very best in all of Europe and for certain the usa the beautiful brickwork seen on east coast of usa is only representing the bricklayer from Europe and UK that built the majority of the finest houses and public buildings in Eastern usa rob is word class so I personally think you owe him either an apology or just keep your comments to yourself
