If you liked "The Perfect Storm" you'll love "The Finest Hours." Plain and simple. All through it I kept comparing it to the 2000 classic. Right up to around 90 minutes in I was giving this film an 8.5 out of 10, and the classic a 9.0. After the ending though I had to give "The Finest Hours" a 9.5. since it is hands down the best film ever produced in the maritime disaster genre, and a must see movie no natter what your favorite genre is. Perfect cast, great acting, awesome special effects, and very well-written and directed. Watch it. You won't be disappointed!

Chris is such a goof on set. I'm so glad to see behind-the-scenes footage of the cast clowning around on set. Though this is a drama film, it's nice to see them mess around for a little fun.

John Magaro played Ervin Maske. You're telling us that Ervin Maske was your father? If that's true, then I offer you humble condolences and respect for what he and the 36500 crew did. What they did was an incredible accomplishment and brave feat. I cannot imagine how terrifying it had to have been back then for them. We thank him and the thousands of past and present Coast Guards for their service.

+Haylie Pua There's plenty of photographs, but not strictly of the rescue depicted in the movie.I'm not aware of any motion picture footage of the actual events, and if there are, they probably are from the other rescues that were being done by the cutters such as the Acushnet. The movie alludes to the fact that there were literally 4 different rescue missions going simultaneously, but the movie specifically focuses on the stern of the Pendleton, which is what Bernie Webber did.
