I was a coastie stationed in the Bay Area-San Fran in 1974. The 36 footers were being phased out but there were a few still being used that I saw. The crews didn't use the few there at the time as the 44 and 45 footers were the mainstay, but still talked about the 36 footers legendary seaworthiness in any kind of soup nature could throw at them. They were tough nuts and am proud folks today preserve and appreciate what these crews and their patrols boats do. They are Guardians of the Sea and daily live up to the motto Semper Paratus.

That was really great to watch and to listen to ! - Thanks for posting ! - Who on Earth would click a dislike on a video like this??? My Grand-Uncle (Grandma-sisters-husband) was a rescue launch helmsman in Germany on the Island of Langeoog for about 4 decades. He started on pure Rowboats and retired on "unsinkable" cruisers (Rettungskreuzer of the DGZRS). As a child I got to listen to him and his fellow crew a whole lot. I will never forget them. Best Regards from Alaska!

The modern day photo of the rescue boat going through the wave was not an accident. That was a training exercise and going through the waves like that is a common occurrence in Washington State, Oregon and North California.

If you liked "The Perfect Storm" you'll love "The Finest Hours." Plain and simple. All through it I kept comparing it to the 2000 classic. Right up to around 90 minutes in I was giving this film an 8.5 out of 10, and the classic a 9.0. After the ending though I had to give "The Finest Hours" a 9.5. since it is hands down the best film ever produced in the maritime disaster genre, and a must see movie no natter what your favorite genre is. Perfect cast, great acting, awesome special effects, and very well-written and directed. Watch it. You won't be disappointed!

15:44 was it the main thing after WWII that lieutenant commanders were the CO's of cutters/icebreakers? They dont even let commanders be CO's today.

I think they aligned the ranks with the Navy when they moved from the treasury to defence department in 1967, my dad served in the 60's and I recall him saying they somehow all got paid less because of that.

Whoever reads this, please try not to be offended by what I'm saying, but to be honest, I'm with Bernie on how this event was able to happen. I think this whole thing was all just too convenient and miraculous without God being involved. I'm glad that Bernie was brave enough to say that.

Good point. although I don't think people are offended by the introduction of spirituality into a discussion as many people assume.
@Rextrent5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment(s). BTW: The movie is a great one. Many Democrats/ Liberals/ Marxists/ Leftists are determined to silence freedom of speech and freedom of thought. Being "offended" is one of many tools used by these wrongdoers and their evil behavior MUST be confronted and wiped out. Watching the destruction of America's foundations and doing NOTHING is aiding and abetting those committed to America's enslavement.
