This is excellent. It is the same philosophy as I employ for the PUMA microscope project but in a completely different field. Shows the democratising power of 3D printing and the willingness of experts in various fields to share their expertise with everyone for free.

Any Ideas on how to replace the rollers with metal ones? they don't really print out evenly

maybe use a drill to rotate and sand the roller? or you could use metal pipe perhaps (i.e. steel conduit)

While this 3D printed printing press is ridiculously cute and adorable, the market is already saturated with affordable A4 printing presses like the x-cut press for approx 150 bucks or less adjustable sizzix or cuttle bug ranging under 100 bucks using shims instead of adjusting the printing rolls not to mention semi professional table top printing machines capable to print up to A3 in the range of 300 to 500 bucks. Just saying.

Indeed, the XCut is a great example of making printmaking much more accessible with an affordable press. But we wanted to make one that is especially designed for etchings as these technqiues are much less accessible. There are rather large presses for relief printing out there, but they rarely work with etchings as you need a lot more pressure for a good print. If you have access to a 3D printer you can now print your own tiny etching press for free :)

its much faster and easier to use a copy machine, or even stencils are way easier, stencils can be 3d printed :) and produce faster things.

Sure, stencils are fun! We're trying to make a specific kind of art techniques accessible, so that they can be used more. For me printmaking is not only about the final result, but about the process. I find it a lot more more fun than stencils! :)
