Here's the thing about money: it has basically three jobs. First, it has to be acceptable for trade. Second, it should be hard (ideally impossible) to fake. And third, it needs to be a stable store of value. Centralizing the currency under the Empire handles the first role, because people seem willing to accept and spend Imperial credits. Presumably they have ways to spot counterfeits - I'd be surprised if Imperial Center didn't have an entire bureau specially dedicated to that - which takes care of the second requirement. But the third? If Coruscant thinks it can solve all its budget problems by endlessly printing cash? That's a big, fat *FAIL* for the third requirement. Every new credit that gets "printed" for quick government cash chips away at the value of all the other credits already in circulation. That is, if all you do is double the number of credits overnight, the value of each one is cut in half. That's bad news for anyone who has credits in hand: you had a hundred yesterday, but that hundred credits will only buy half the amount of stuff today. Fortunately, any parallels to real-world monetary policies are, I'm sure, pure coincidence. Star Wars is fiction, and real leaders would _never_ be so foolish to think they could just paper their way out of budget problems, right? Right...? ...Oh, dear.

If Palpatine wasn't a power hungry Sith lord, he could've easily made the Galactic empire light years better than the Republic that preceded it. Giving everybody a chain code could potentially reduce crime and make those who earn a living off of it(Bounty hunters) a LOT better, him creating imperial academies to give more people the chance to earn a living, nationalization of the credit banking system for a better economy. All great ideas, but they were not great because the empire was ultimately lying to it's populous in the end.

The Empire fulfilled the 3 concepts of a galactic currency in the following manner: 1. The Empire provided a galactic currency that would be universal and accepted throughout the entire galaxy. We see a notable difference between "Republic credits are no good out here" in Episode 1 versus the accepted Imperial currency in Episode 4 of the saga. 2. The Imperial Credit would have the security and sanctity of an everlasting currency and unit of money. Thus it was accepted as a mechanism to conduct trade and commerce by all worlds, species and entities. 3. As for value, I believe the Empire had the equivalent of a gold standard. No doubt, the Emperor had the Imperial Monetary Authority abide by the Imperial Basic Law that "Nothing shall be made legal tender in the Galactic Empire except Twilek females, or a Currency fully backed and fixed to Twilek females." It is likely that the Imperial Monetary Authority on Coruscant/Imperial Center would only issue Imperial Credits in a fixed proportion to the accrued number of Twilek females being accumulated at the Imperial Vault (which the Jedi Temple was repurposed for). Imperial citizens could exchange their Credits for Twilek females at any time thus providing confidence in the value of the Imperial Credit.

I’ve been loving the Bad Batch, for many reasons, but one big one is that we’re finally getting to see some of the early days of the Empire, I just hope they don’t rush through this time period, and instead take 5heir time so we can see the empire consolidate it’s hold on the galaxy, the planets in it, and the people on those planets. It’s also great to see Clone Force 99, have to learn to manage and survive on their own, without the support of the republic or anyone else, all while getting used to having a child with them.

When I think about the galactic Civil War and the clone wars I realized that there was a lot of cool military resources in the clone wars from both the republic and separatist sides and then I thought what would've Palpatine done differently than scraping so much to fuel his regime? I mean yeah the b1 Droid clearly had some faulty programming and the only advantage they had was their numbers and cost only a fraction of what the clones did but we see plenty of examples where they run ship operations more effectively than organics. and considering the tie fighter's lack if hyperactive and shield, they would have been better off if Palpatine kept most of the venator class star ships and deployed them through that instead of the destroyer. Anyway I hope to hear your theory on it and use this as an idea for a future video if you think it's worth it 👌 ✌

Hmmm, as a future dictator myself I'd do a few things different. 1. No central bank 2. Low rate flat tax on all citizens 3. Install planetary governers based on merit 4. Institute PDF(Planetary Defense Force) and SDF(System Defense Fleet) standards 5. Install Thrawn as head of training and doctrine at Imperial Command 6. Enact charter of Imperial Rights for citizens and path to citizenship 7. Enact Base Delta Zero on Sith 'homeworld' of Korriban 8. Declare war on the Hutts. Massive militarization, construction of a more practical fleet(though with similar numbers), no Sith influence on culture or military doctrine, freedom and prosperity to make my people stronger for the coming conflicts. I think this would help prepare my Galaxy for the inevitable invasion of the WAAAAAGH!

hey alan, so all of those were interesting moves palpatine made but there were som mistakes he made. here'swhat id do; 1.) down-size the I.S.D. program. in a previous video you comented the isd was just a venator on steroids and i agree . but i see it more a a mobile command base than a starship. given it was the most time consuming and resource intensive ship, i wouldve used them to gaurd key hyperspace lanes, attach them to r&d facilities or military instalations. 2.) expand the roles of the inquisitors. when you comepare them to jedi or sith lords, they always fall short, but agianst PDF's or other military they'rein a leauge of their own. not to mention their training and experience centers around stealth, interrogation and tracking, it makes more sense to work more with groups like the ISB. plus weve seen in games, comics and shows they're capable of leading special projects like in jedi fallen order or the excavation of the temple on lothal. 3.) switch roles between death troopers and storm troopers. out of all the differences between the 2 is how much uncle palppy invested in. compared to death trooper armor, storm trooper armor was better equipped to handle civilian uprisings. then you have death trooper armor is just as light but much stronger, better equipped, sprayed with a special polymer which scrambles sensors not to mention the possible genetic enhancments, making them super soldiers.the storm trooper work better as the security forces for the ISB. 4.)they say cant buy loyalty but i argue that if you do it right you can. i would've taken worlds such as ryloth as an example of the old republics failure to adress and handle issues like slavery and wrongful imprisonment by offering relief packages hat came with healthcare, resources and added benefits if they joined the imperial military. the T'wileks have been invaded, raided and been fighting for generations so odds are they don't really want to concern themselves outside their system but galcticly/technologically speaking they never developed enough to come up with hyper-space travel on their own and live in a somewhat hostile environment so they'll want things they can't develop on their own advancments. this actually worked on our own planet in the 1500's when pain and portugal tried to invade Brazil. the spanish went through a brutal campaign and lost while the Portuguese used the same tactic, giving the brazillians what they couldnt have and was eventually absorbed into portugal. now thats why folks in Brazil speak Portuguese. and since im buying businesses, federilized the banking system and absorbing everything i can afford it

Anyone else notice some trends that may not be happening in a galaxy far far away.

The one thing that's important to mention about the Imperial Acamedy and the Rebellion is that a significant portion of the Rebellion's foot soldiers and pilots stemmed from disgruntled Imperials who had a moral consciousness and winded up leaving and possibly later opposing the Empire, taking their talents with them. Han Solo (prior to the Solo movie where he was a lieutenant fighter pilot rather than a common foot soldier) is probably the most notable example.
