Aunt Elizabeth visited with my parents for years. She would stay in our home (Youngstown, Ohio) for 2 weeks annually for years. I thought that she was my "blood aunt" coming for a visit. She taught me, my first hymn by ear, "Showers of Blessings." I always enjoyed her singing, "I Want to be More and More Like Jesus." Wonderful memories. Thanks for posting Aunte!

Sanctified, holy, reverent and anointed. Dear, dear saint she must have been. God bless our mothers in the faith who have given us so much...

This is classic First Church singing. It is the First Church Radio Choir and the Men's Day Choir, about 200 or more singers. There was no time for a rehearsal. This recording was done after Men's Day at the church, which had Earl "Fatha" Hines as the guest. Mr. Hines insisted on recording the choir immediately after experiencing that service and the radio broadcast. And so a recording was done immediately, without any rehearsal of any kind. I am not sure, but I believe Mr. Hines' drummer is on the drums on this song. Mr. Hines played on the recording, as well as Fred Nelson, Jr., Fred Nelson, III, Lisa Nelson, and the other First Church musicians, at that time. Uncle Ralph and the Preacher, along with Mr. Hines pulled it together. It is important to remember this, because although First Church was known for presenting elaborate, well thought out programs, the Preacher also had an attitude of "Why not?", and would take it from there. Sometimes, when an opportunity presents itself, in faith we have to say "Why not?", and take advantage of it.

If memory serves me right Ms. Hall passed about a year prior to Preacher Cobb. I had the radio broadcast tape when Preacher announced her passing.
