Props to Vegito for slowing down after the big accidental punt, not a lot of players would do that

my perspective as a working man who doesn't have that much time, is that i don't want to spend hours unlocking everything just to race on an equal field , BUT i also think people need some practice with a car before jumping to a multiplayer lobby , specifically ppl like me, casuals , so i think a 1 hour 'car learning and practice' that also unlock most of everything in a car is a good balance

They still really need to fix the graphical bugs and weird issues with painting cars. Motorsport also needs that like final lighting/reflections pass that FH5 has. But I think the driving feels really good compared to previous forza games

hot take but i find the grind to get my car competitive quite refreshing. It feels like i'm rewarded for using a car and learning it, rather then just buying a car and tune to get an instant win. It means money isn't everything and i like it

I am a painter, and the issues I have dealt with the most are: 1. Decal loading is horrendously slow, especially the more decals you own/create. 2. Decals arent in order at all. They are jumbled. I hope they make it like previous games where its ordered based on date. 3. Sometimes if you are in the paint booth for a long time, the game crashes. 4. Schemes being blurry on others and your own car. 5. Decals being in a different postion then original placed when car is on the track vs the paint booth. Hope these get fixed!!!

What I like about the upgrade system in this game is it lets you mostly save your money for buying cars, expanding your collection, rather than dumping a shit ton into upgrades to make a few cars competitive. It's also really nice that if you want to completely change your setup, you can refund all the upgrades you have installed and start over from stock.

I haven't tried the game from the update but the stability part is super great to hear. I would love to see Turn 10 make a calendar of upcoming races so players can have a chance to drive and upgrade the cars before the race hoppers hit. Also more stock racing would be great as well but I'm happy with the update as is.

I think a realistic damage model would clean up the racing. Something in the line of Beamng. When I race in that game I'm so careful, unlike almost any other game that I'll take a bigger risk knowing I won't incur race ending damage. also curious that the slower traffic that was being lapped was ghosting. That really changes the dynamic of a race.

Love watching your gameplay and your humor. First time I tried logging into a practice game crashed. Maybe cuz I didn't close out overnight. Then second game I tried played during qualifying it crashed again. So 2/4 this morning wasn't a very good start.

I remember that Mugello race. Excellent race craft in that race and if anything, it was even better in this video. 11:06 was genius.

I like the lower level requirements for parts but it feels like a moot change. The points required for those upgrades remains the same. Meaning you still need to be at or around whatever levels you would have normally unlocked them at to use all of them. But I'm not really experienced enough to know for sure if that's how it is.

regarding what you said about the progression being like CoD nowadays, I completely agree. It is exactly like it. To be fair to the update, the leveling up now is pretty quick, but not yet quick enough (for my taste, at least). The problem I had is that after I'm done racing with a car that I used after a builders cup is finished, is that--that's that for the car, I've no reason to use it again afterwards, and thats a bit sad if I'm honest. The freedom that past FM games has given us was that you can feel attached to a car soo much that you can enjoy using it over and over again afterwards because of the modification and tune that we've given to it. But now because of the grind, it's too much of an effort. That's my two cents at least

Update seems like it’s going definitely in the right direction. I got some new settings for my wheel and have been having a blast although I’m new to the sim racing scene only ever messed around on assetto corsa. Love your content mate, really has started my interest in sim racing.

The problem is, yes the parts unlock quicker but the car points are the same, so you have very little car points to use to upgrade. So I think it's still an issue

I do remember your old Forza 4 video. It's one of my favorites because it really describes some of the better experiences I had online with FM 2, 3, and 4.

I just played my first 2 qualifiers. First race I qualified first and had a good feeling. I was punted on the second corner. I ended up rallying back to third for the finish. Not terrible but damn I was disappointed off the rip. Second race I didn't get a chance to qualify. So started last. Got up to 9th and was punted into a wall at 145mph. I got a penalty of 2.5 sec and the offender got a .5 Pissed me off royally. I'm a really clean racer and I give my opponents ample space at all times. I continued the race and beat my offenders fair and square. Got all the way up from 12th to 5th. But I was knocked down by 2 positions because of the bs penalty and my clean rating is shot. I knew it would be annoying to race online. Gt sport was the same way with terrible penalties. I shouldn't be suprised but here I am.

I'd love to see a video showcasing 1st person view as well as using a wheel and pedals with your commentary and feedback on the experience

They need 2 identical races for each race one allowing upgrades to the KTM and one without upgrades to the KTM, so if u dont have an upgraded version u still have a chance to win.

Been here since Forza 4. One car I always miss from that game is the Mazda Furai. That's car was pretty much like driving a fly

One thing that NOBODY seems to consider about the upgrade system is that YES putting the parts on was quick in the old game BUT getting the Settings TRULY dialed in took hours if you weren't copying someone else's build and trying to figure it out for yourself. Also in a race with a PP limit you have to go back and forth testing what parts are the best bang for the PP and THEN spend hours tuning settings. This new system just add HOURS of grinding just to get to where you have to spend hours selecting the best balance then hours tweaking setting, and I am sorry the people that aren't all that serious and just throw parts on their cars and just go aren't going to like this either so who is this for again? It doesn't add anything it just wastes the players time and considering more that 80% of the cars don't have events to level up in and they nerf your experience in Free Race what is this for again? If you want people to Drive their cars more GIVE THEM EVENTS TO DRIVE IN!!!!! with all these Tracks and ALL these Car (the hard part to program) you can't be ASKED to make up a name for an event pick, a drivetrain, country, power or class restriction and 5 tracks and a list of cars to be in it? Polyphony has done the same WHAT IS WRONG have you ALL forgotten why people Play your game it is FOR THE RACES is that SO HARD to understand? In GT1,2,3,4,5, and 6 I used to spend days or even WEEKS driving every new car I bought because there were TONS of events to race it in now there just ISN'T, and the sad part is that the way the game auto tunes the Opponents to match your car level it is almost pointless to upgrade unless you are gonna MAX IT OUT the car.

The update hasn't made any real difference to me. Today I've encountered vastly more rammers and dirty drivers despite having an S/A safety rating and 4600 skill level, I've started getting the bug that doesn't let you change tires and fuel load before the race start, replays still don't work and I'm continuing to have a flashing graphics glitch in the menus. There's still a huge amount of work needed on this game, I would be very disappointed if I had bought it full price instead of on gamepass.

The most important thing is the turn ten continue increase the quality and improve the gameplay to us. Nice video bro.

I think there should be a player rank that reduces the amount of time it takes to rank up. You’d rank up faster if you play with fewer assists. If you’ve put 16 hours into the game, play without TCS, STM, suggested, and with a manual, maybe you unlock things in a quarter of the time. If you play for 16 hours with most assists on then maybe you unlock things in 3/4 of the time. That way people who know what they’re doing can get what they want while rookies need to learn car control before they can. If I’m not being clear enough the player rank would effectively work as a discount on all car ranks. Or maybe a multiplier for for car points per race.

Semi related, but I think a strong flip side to this is what Gran Turismo 7 Sport mode usually does. 95% of the time, the online races are BoP enabled, with no tuning and upgrades whatsoever, so you end up with very soulless races where you pick cars from a category, but there are one or two "meta" cars for a track that everyone ends up picking anyway.. But this week's Race A with the Corolla is fantastic as it's effectively open spec and you can experiment with how you approach the race from a tuning and strategy perspective. I've had a ton of fun with that format and I think Polyphony should take some notes and do that more often!

I'm currently focusing on SP and really enjoy the new system, feel it's a bit restrictive for MP though. Leveling a car can vary allot, your KTM only got to lvl 11 but I've had some cars get to 20+ lvls. My Mazda Savanna RX7 got to lvl 25 by the end, really fun car to drive stock (or in general)

i was in this race starting 3rd after qual. It was quite easy to see what cars had upgrades and those who were stock.

This game could be my daily go to, aslong as they revamp the car progression mechanic and fix the optimization on PC.

Update is a good start, but the moment I was about to try multiplayer again, my game crashed as the race was starting. So I think PC stability still has some work to be done

The biggest problem with this game is the AI. It's utterly horrible. They have no concept of not running into other cars.

the update seems pretty good. a lot less crashing on PC but i did get 1 crash to desktop this morning, application fatal error. love the game though, i'd love to get some going with ya GT!

Super GT, thanks for a great informative video and considerations. Since the update I'd be about only half of races starting for me at the end point of loading the grid. At first I thought it was connectivity, but then I've found a saving screen during career or car upgrade save simply gets stuck. I have to reboot the game which doesn't take long to reload fortunately and often the 2nd go it works (in career at least). Also for some weird reason I cannot turn cars to the right totally which is problematic at sharp turns. My controller is not the problem as other racing games etc don't have an issue. But otherwise it is indeed an amazing game where you can play vs 12 or 24 other like minded racers. Cheers, RJ

Nope. Car leveling is better but still takes too many points to build an A class car without being close to maxed. And the crashing is still there for sure.

i cant help but feel that this car, the KTM X-Bow GT2 needs more grip. pretty much every corner, you were sliding into them and out of them. its a high performance race car. a lot of cars seem to lack mechanical grip most of the time which i find rather odd

I find it interesting that you only got the KTM up to level 11 from the builders cup thing. before the update, every car I used in one of them got over level 20

As someone who just got home from work...I like the car progression system. It forces you to stick with one car for a while and work to upgrade it. Similar to real life you might be put in a class where you're not very competitive the first time out. You see what other people are doing with their cars and work to upgrade yours. Eventually you will be competitive but you shouldn't expect to win the first race in a new car.

I personally liked the upgrade system and didn't mind the grind at all as do the majority of my racing buddies. It's always been too easy in past Forzas and thought this was a great change. Loving the game though either way, it's great they are listening and open to tweaking things. Hopefully they get the PC issues ironed out and get replays working next.

I am a working Dad with just the occasional hour. But I actually like that the game forces me to use fewer cars. It doesn't rush you into a new car every few minutes. And in the end, as of every FM (since FM2) I actually only really use a few cars any way. So I like the progression and even the pre patch one...but I do get why tuners, painters and forzatographers might get frustrated fast.

Point 1: They don't show you other driver's Driver Rating or Safety Rating in the race ... Point 2: They place you in a lobby immediately, and never re-sort drivers based on Driver Rating and Safety Rating after the registration closes (like iRacing or GT7 does) Point 3: See Point 1 ... Those two points are not unrelated .. the reason they don't show us the ratings of other drivers in our lobby is because they didn't actually implement a rating system. The only way to fairly and accurately group drivers based on rating is to wait for registration to close before determining the splits. If Forza actually displayed the ratings of our competitors, it would be immediately be obvious that they didn't even try to build a real ranking system .. but wanted to make it appear like they did ... Point 4: Spec races should be same car, same tune. The point of a Spec race is to race the other drivers while removing the variables of differences in cars or setups. Why to they bother calling it a Spec lobby, when it's not even close to that .. even with the recent changes? Was 6 years not enough time to do this right?

My theory about the Turn 10 using CP to upgrade cars and the addition of extra practicing is that they are trying to train the players to simply be better, more respectful racers, and to not expect to win first place every round.

There still seems to be lots of annoying bugs in multiplayer that can ruin your race but it does seem to be crashing less on the whole. I honestly think the game crashes more the longer the game session is as it seems to have a really hard time when you've been loading different stuff in the game like menus etc.

The builders cup saves now so im super happy. Your comparison with cod was spot on.

I've been loving the racing since the update! I've had some of the cleanest and most competitive races i've ever had since i started playing forza in FM2. It helps that i'm in the S class of safety racing but i've been very impressed with how the update has improved the racing.

I think they would benefit from making the online races stock for stock. So the only advantages that you would have is, strategy, chassis/make, and setup. IMO thought I felt the car leveling up was great even if it was a little grindy. They got told all through FH5 that it was too easy to get cars and the game was boring because you can just buy what you wanted and you didn't have to earn anything. They listened to players and the players didn't like it lol. To be honest though I was not expecting an update that fast...8 days and its being update WOW.

To use your Call of Duty analogy in terms of unlocking parts for guns ect. The difference being that in FPS games if you have a good aim, you can still outperform higher level people, with the standard guns. There's not much you can do in forza when you're physically limited by the capabilities of the car (HP, braking, aero ect.).

I think if they want to keep the car level system they should add a manufactor level system aswell which grants car point discounts and potentially free cars for that make just as a slight incentive/gradual grind reduction. Say like 5% reduction for each level with the manufactor level + the already lower grind with this update would be a fair balance tbh

Please raise more awareness about this! They may have fixed the crashing BUT I still have infinite loading sometimes during buying cars and upgrading, and applying wraps while ALSO losing my last race progress in career even tho I've been done with it bc I am forced to restart the game.

Vegito is a Don, on Hakone one guy t boned me last lap final corner, but then slowed down to let me overtake and keep my p2. Love to see it in the community.

I’m glad you’ve come around a little bit on the general car leveling philosophy. I think their change to make it easier to level and get parts was definitely a step in the right direction but in general, I like the philosophy. I made the comparison to leveling guns in COD when the game came out too. Lots of good racing to be had in the Spec racing if you don’t want to level up and tune your cars. I think it’s great Forza has both options available.

I really wish they did away with car points and the level requirements. It’s really just an unnecessary grind. The career races are also still a horrible selection. I miss fm4

I like the progression they have turned to. It makes you really be careful what mods you choose and waht car to use.

i read the patch notes. liked everything in the patch notes. booted up the game and just had really bad stability issues in multiplayer lobbies. frequent crashes and glitches while playing online.

I personally still think GT7 is superior.

There’s a similar theme in real life cars. For example you cannot buy top of the line Ferraris or Porsche’s without some very significant prerequisites. And they can’t be bypassed, no matter how much money you have.

So the best thing I have found when you get a new car for online, take that car to rivals. Run laps for an hour to get some practice in and really learn how to use the car. It’s better than doing the story mode, and after a minimum of 30mins of hot laps you get 75k credits and car level hits a minimum of level 10. Even though it’s annoying, it ends up being a win/win. You level the car up, you learn the car, and you make a mountain of credits. Easily to the point of buying more cars easily.

I don’t notice any safety rating changes, played a solid 8 hours of multiplayer since the update and I keep running into rammers at A tier safety rating. Been starting from the back and driving super careful trying to get back to S tier safety rating and everytime I pull off a clean overtake the person to my side takes us both out purposefully

It’s funny you brought up COD because I had an idea for hardcore lobbies in FM8 i.e. full damage on. I love the idea of the safety and skill rating system but I think hardcore lobbies would weed out the rammers once they realize it doesn’t work.

The call of duty comparison Sota makes sense however the gun you start with are normally the most balanced so there still as affective as the later guns

The comment at 8:10 is spot on. I get home from work by the time we have had dinner and socialized, I have about an hour and 1/2 game time a day, split that between career and online. I am currently leveling up the Honda Civic to race online in "A" my preferred class to race in the previous Forza's.

I would like a few tips on tuning a car. What changes do you usually do to the setup etc.

What I noticed is that players don’t know how to take corners properly. Like they don’t know how to give room/take a different line because they have another car beside them. They just focus so much on throttle that they end up all heading into the same racing line eventually and then boom, there are people off the track. I think it’s due to the amount of players, since it’s a free to play game on game pass, think about all the people who never played a racing game who are downloading the game because it’s free! So that’s also another issue

I'm still on the fence about the car leveling system. I think it should have been more connected and integrated into the campaign/Builders Cup. Would have been really cool to start off with a relatively stock car and having a full kitted Out track day race car. That's kinda what made forza great, was putting together a random car and seeking out how fast it can go and how well you can tune it to your liking. Hell even doing a car manufacturer leveling system would have been better. Having to do manufacturer races in order level up that manufacturer to unlock certain cars and upgrade would of been cool. Also adding some historical race events and cut scenes into the campaign would have been amazing.

patch being 1.0 is a bit weird for a full released ($120aud standard edition) game that's been out a couple of weeks, but patch notes direction seems promising, hard to get hopes up in the gaming scene these days though

Damn that was some nice racing ^_^ Tough after playing the game before and after the patch, for me the bugs only got worse -_- Textures disappearing, cars getting invisible, loading issues and getting a warning for inactivity while the game didn't want to load fully, Game crashes. I think I won't be playing Forza for the foreseeable future sadly. As much I would love to.

I've seen a couple of videos on this game now and can't get over the fact that no matter the car they're all driving like it's on ice. This is a GT2 class car, wide slicks, massive downforce, fast corners on a warm and dry track yet it drifts around all the time. Wild, I've seen more traction with rats on a marble floor

When it was first revealed that we would have this experience system for Forza Motorsport I immediately made the same connection with Call of Duty. I have been complaining, mostly to my friends, about having to unlock guns and attachments since 2007 with Call of Duty 4. At least here the equivalent is attachments as opposed to the guns themselves. I do find it interesting how different systems can be both accepted and expected in some genres and, when ported over to others, cause a lot of grief and consternation.

Haven’t done any multiplayer races but I gotta say I’m pleased to see how fair other players are racing.

3:45 the guy cut into late cause he is lagging and u can see this by the way the car suddenly darts to another spot on the road it's the server trying to give an accurate position on the road with data that is coming in chunks later than requested... so i don't believe that was intentional and on his screen it might of not hit...

Late but bought the game and played it over the last month and it's been great fun! I think that if there was a bigger grinding curve to build a single car, I'd be less into it. I think the hour or two it takes to unlock the basic upgrades is a good medium to introduce a car. Now, leave the minutiae of tuning to the individual's skill IMO. Spec doesn't tell the full story if you can out tune and drive your opponent. It's fun on the Xbox series x, and runs smooth for how good it looks (in 1080p anyways). Definitely enjoy it as a casual player!

After the update idk why it’s so fun the physics feel so good the braking points and acceleration points are crucial on turns and you can feel your tires loose their grip after a couple hard laps it’s so immersive haven’t felt like this since fm4

Perhaps an idea would be to have upgraded cars to rent for these multiplayer lobbies, they are close to the group ceiling, have a certain tune but you cant tune them or paint or otherwise customize them yourself maybe. So if you want that then you have to buy the car and race in it and upgrade it yourself. But i mean a rent system is already in the game, shouldnt be too difficult to adapt it for this. I guess just kinda need to provide a tune for every car so it works in every lobby?

Best way to really lvl up a car is to play in rival mode/time attack, before going to multiplayer, it makes you to get used to the car before and do the fine tuning you gotta do easier since you got the whole track to yourself and the opponents is a ghost

i was a having a great race around the Nürburgring and I got instantly disconnected from the race my Wi-Fi was still up I was still in the call with good connection. the other problem is replays, replays dont seem to save or work properly most of the time.
