Columbo (Peter Falk) has cracked a lot of cases in his time so we've put his first & last cases together to see whether the super sleuth's techniques changed throughout the years.
From Columbo Season 1 Episode 1 'Murder By The Book' - Lt. Columbo cannot resist the challenge of a perfect murder, a reliable alibi and a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse with a murderous mystery writer.
From Columbo Season 10 Episode 14 'Columbo Likes The Nightlife' - Crumpled detective Lieutenant Columbo finds himself in the unlikeliest of places - the Los Angeles rave scene - when he investigates the supposed suicide of a tabloid reporter and the disappearance of a notorious mobster's son.
Columbo (1971 - 2003): Lieutenant Columbo, a polite homicide detective, sets out to solve some of the most brutal, cunning and covert murders in Los Angeles.

The only thing the extras got a bit wrong is that they start looking pointedly at the fish before Columbo has started talking about them, and they couldn't have known it would be the focus of the investigation ahead of time, even if he did start walking towards them, they're part of the ground.

At the very end Columbo once again uses the expertise of a relative. I have lost count how many times his wife, brother-in-law, niece, or nephew have helped him solve a case, either directly with information or inadvertently by saying something that sparked an idea that put Columbo on the right track. It is fitting to use it in the final scene of the final show.

Wow. Columbo has lasted 10 seasons and still regarded as one of the best Crime & Detective shows of all time. Also, Columbo's last case in the last episode was not his last as there was a planned 40th Anniversary special episode of Columbo but due of TV scheduling conflicts as well as Columbo's actor Peter Falk is already diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease that he is no longer recognized the character he played, it sadly never happened until he passed away in 2011. R.I.P. to Peter Falk. ♥️

I remember seeing the final episode and instantly recognised how modern it was compared to the 70s and 80s episodes. The most striking thing is the murders in the older episodes have that 70s quality of actors mildly exaggerating the deaths, very quick and absolutely no sign of injury or blood. Very much censored you could call it. The last episode on the contrary was incredibly violent in comparison, even taking multiple attempts to kill the victim.

I wonder too, sometimes. I think the most difficult part about believing in any deity is accepting the idea that He sees the whole picture, and even the most horrible and tragic events have reasons for occurring, even if we can't understand them. Sometimes a lesser evil must be suffered in order to achieve a greater good. Suffering and conflict is what makes us grow, both as individuals, and as a species. Without difficulties to overcome, we'd stagnate. But that's a very bitter truth to accept.

Yeah, but there's no way a dude could rip up an in-ground fish-tank, bury a body, replace the tank with a smaller one, then re-stock it with the number of fish that meets some law a club owner would have no way of knowing about. And then a detective just randomly counting fish in tanks. Just one more thing...
