Hi Scott, nice snapper , good call to come inshore, I got caught in big swells, surfing on the throttle full ahead/ full astern very scary ! Friendly tip it's not good have baits in the water with a dolphin near the boat, they will grab baits and nobody wants hurt a dolphin. They will damage crab nets too. Your video recordings are so good love your work. Cya

Cheers Mate Dolphins are way to smart to grab a bait attached to a line, ive never heard of it happening. I fish with dolphins around all the time and they almost seem to heard the fish over to us . alway catch when they are there, maybe irts just a bait thing fish are feeding on the bait same as the dolphins. cheers for watching

Hey Scotty, I know what you mean about the scary sweet and the GoPro showing nothing. But like you say, they look scary, but you know they're not going to hit you and that's why you're there in the first place. Funny that when it gets dark it's no longer scary since you just can't see the swells 😅
@Saltfix23 күн бұрын
@@wazzastinnyfishing yeah I’ve gone out early morning before and not realised quite how big it is until the sun came up. Very dangerous when crossing over some spots

That swell is no joke eh, and I agree with you - like you say, the camera's don't do the scale justice.

No it was scary that day. I’ve actually been waiting for some hero to say it didn’t look that bad . But if you were there it was not nice Cheers mate

Mate I was rattled out there, just very intimidating . Normally I’m pretty solid but that day was scary

Great fish in perfect snapper conditions. Could hear the Adrenalin/fear in your voice so that swell must have been bad. Oh and pellets for the win…again!
@Saltfix29 күн бұрын
I fish in some pretty average conditions but that day was out of my comfort level. Think it was a 4m swell had to zig zag through breakers to get out . Shouldn’t have done it. I let keen over ride common sense

I soak the pellets with salt water and fish oil. Then form into golf ball size balls. They sink down leaving a good cloud.

@@Saltfix watching swell lines jack up on the back of the reef is always spooky.

Had to laugh when you picked up the second rod. 😂. But i get you on that swell, i have a small boat and have done the same many times over. Great video mate! I do have a question, with the easterlies your boat will point towards the coast and your burley runs to the front of the boat. I find that when this occurs i don't get snapper, was this the case for you on the day?
@Saltfix29 күн бұрын
Depends but mostly this time of year the current runs to the south .you can see the lines heading that way. East is ok , a lot of south makes it awkward but you can still catch
@willdupuy784829 күн бұрын
Good episode, you do look very nervous in this one, but who said fishing wasn't risky. 11:07 that dolphin got close. Normally i pack up and leave when i see them but its working for you

Ive actually caught a heap of snapper with dolphins hanging around, I lok at them as a good omen now.

Hey mate just wondering what pellets you use. Great vid mate🤙
@Saltfix29 күн бұрын
Just chicken pellets from any stock feeder or pet shop . I put em in a big tub and pour fish oil over em
@RobertJohnson-uv9ef26 күн бұрын
do you ever fish deep water like 100m
@Saltfix26 күн бұрын
Not really I only want one fish and everything dies if dragged up from that depth. I don’t fish to “bag out” and eat fresh rather than freeze Not worth the journey for one fish
