Why do I feel like this is the result of the Floppotron looking at the Marble Machine and going 'I can do that! I've got way more RAM! Hold my drink!"
@p1nkfreud6 жыл бұрын
Tyro Kitsune Wow. You somehow managed to name the ONLY component not present here. This is literally one of the most stupidly ironic comments in KZfaq history. Mark my words, this comment will be in a top10 video some day. Literally every component of a computer is here, EXCEPT for RAM. Wow. Well done

Part of the floppotron is a computer controlling everything. So *every* component of a computer is present - because a computer is present. You can't do anything without the computer, it's an integral part of the device. And guess where the song is stored while it's being played. In RAM.
@SuperSmashDolls5 жыл бұрын
I mean, the computer has RAM, and the Marble Machine only has ROM, so...
@johnrickard85125 жыл бұрын
@@SuperSmashDolls Technically the Marble Machine does have around half a byte of RAM in the form of its instrument enable controls. The Floppotron is, however, is far and away more sophisticated in terms of driving electronics(the Marble Machine has none), though in terms of total engineering complexity, the Marble Machine is far more intricate(The Floppotron is very sophisticated, but the same code that controls one bank of FDDs holds the same for the other 7, and isn't too different from the code that controls the scanners). Not to bash on the Floppotron though...it is a technically superior instrument in terms of reliability and musical capabilities.

I HAVE TO tell you something. I found Floppotron two years ago. A month ago a friend of mine (who is a music teacher) told me about some amazing guy who built a machine that plays music with marbles. So I sent her Floppotron work. And guess what? KZfaq suggested me watching... Marble Machine ;-))). So the whole month I watch and listen Wintergatan, I'm actually addicted to Marble Machine, so to say. I'm spending countless hours watching covers of it ( currently there are 80 on official playlist) and... There you go: Floppotron cover of Wintergatan - Marble Machine. Yaaaay!!! Thank you both, Martin and Paweł!

these videos amaze me. It reminds me of when my dad and I would take things apart when they're dead and gone. We had a whole box of chips and buttons and cords and peaces. I had toys so I would take most of the chips out of the box and just kinda add them do whatever I was doing with my toys. Sometimes they were like a map to me since I played a lot of games as a kid. I still do but haven't had the time as of late. Anyways, they looked like a city to me. I'm not sure if we still have the box in my house but I loved taking things apart and looking at what's inside.
