Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and also for your kind words. It's fun to think that we got into this hobby together 25+ years ago but your personality evolved and your interests diversified exteremely fast whereas mine... I seem to have gravitated back to the starting point. :)

Those boxes on the lower part of the tail boom might be housings for the doppler navigation system. Something similar like on the Mi-8 or Mi-24

Just wooow, amazing job and awesome editing. My 2024 goal is to emulate this kinda work ethic, but I think I need at least a few (or preferably a lot) more videos to do that, please keep'em coming.

Thank you, Devon. I appreciate your kind words and wish you best of luck with your projects in 2024! The series will certainly continue but it will take a couple of weeks or more as I'm working full time and doing this on the side. I wish it were the other way around! :)

Some amazing detailing on display here, I´m subscribed and looking forward to the next episode! Although now I can´t look at the helos in my stash without questioning what might be able to be improved 😅

Thanks, Tom! The next episode is coming in a few weeks. If you look long enough, there is always something to be improved. :) On the other hand, most upgrades are not worth the effort so what I am trying to get better at is evaluating what to touch vs leave as is. Life is short and most improvements are barely noticeble so striking a good balance would be key... at least that's how I see it.

Great video! I was surprised this was only your second one. I have been working on and, recording my first video during my current build and your video has been a bit of an inspiration. I am currently working in a 1/35 Hind that I bought long time ago when I thought it was a good idea. The kit is the laziest thing I have ever seen and I have been attempting to detail it similar to what you are doing. I don't have all the tools that you do for scratchbuilding but luckily I have a 3D printer so certain parts for me are easier to recreate that way, though I prefer to make them in ctyrene and brass sheets. Can I ask what your camera set up is? I also might switch to a black background like yours for building as it might show the light model better.

Hi There! I'm glad you found a bit of insipiration in this video. 3D printers are great but I don't have one - otherwise I definitely would have used it for some of the details in this build. In terms of the camera set up - I am still very much in the process of figuring this all out but here are a few things that may be useful. I use a Canon EOS R10 and a bunch of relatively cheap 36W, 6000K led panels designed for ceilings attached to a rack I built with a white shower curtain wrapped around as diffusor. I can share some photos if you are interested. For the background, I used the backside of my cutting mat. I kind of ruined it by spilling cement all over it and I could not buy a new one without a grid printed on both sides so in the next video I am going to use an XXL mouse pad instead - we'll see how that will work out. I find that color grading helps a lot when it comes to making details more visible on all grey/white parts. Good luck with your Hind! I also have two in my stash: the Trumpeter one in 1/35 and the new Zvezda in 1/48. The former has terrible negative rivet detail while the latter has absolutely none so I'm having a hard time deciding which one to tackle first. Let us know once your video is ready!
