The FLYING SCOTSMAN car rally 2024 | INCREDIBLE cars on the Oulton Park stages

Day 1 of The Flying Scotsman vintage car rally - organised by HERO-ERA - was a sunny if slightly breezy affair, certainly for us spectating at Oulton Park where the rally/drift course in the infield area was put to good use.
The 2024 Flying Scotsman rally was a three-day event, the two stages held at Oulton Park occurring on day one, just a short hop from the start point an hour or so earlier. After leaving Oulton the cars headed north before rounding out their trip a couple of days later in Scotland.
Virtually all of the classic cars competing in the Flying Scotsman 2024 were of pre-war origin, with just a few youngsters built in the 1940s joining the fray.
A real mixture of pre-war and vintage cars were seen stretching their legs, including example(s) of the following:
1924 Rolls-Royce
Bentley 3/4.5 Litre
Lea Francis Hyper
Riley Brooklands
Aston Martin International
Talbot 105
Bugatti Type 44
Frazer Nash TT Replica
MG L1 Magna
Riley Sprite
AC 16/80
Ford V8
Alvis Speed 25 special
Frazer Nash BMW 328
Jaguar SS100
Chevrolet Master Coupe
Buick Century
HRG 1500
Lagonda Rapier
Bristol 400
... and many more, in all around 66 cars were entered and most make it into this upload to the Old Classic Car channel. If I missed your favourite classic cars on this year's Flying Scotsman historic car rally, I apologise.

Hello. Very well recorded and put together. Some cars almost came to grief on those corners. That E Type Jaguar racer looked mean. The VW Beetles looked cool too. Thanks for your video from Carl.

One of my many motoring delights was to get 100mph in a 1930s Bentley owned by a friend years ago on a main road that will be remain unmentioned! As I drove power modern cars, I was impressed not only by the odd shake at speed but the huge torque at low revs that got it there! Super visit greatly enjoyed! Rob

I too Robert , recall a high speed drive in a 1930 Speed Six Bentley , owned by a local farmer , and for ' payment ' for 2 secondhand tyres for it , leaving everything ' modern ' in its wake - one of the most exciting and memorable drives of my life !.

It is difficult to remember that many of these cars are100 years old or very close to being so., longer than the lifespan of an average human being. Yet, there they are being put through their paces in 2024, amazing actually. The Fraser Nash Replica seems as if it is a spirited beast, Good brekkie viewing RJ.

Hello Richard . Some very gutsy driving , particularly the '34 ? Fraser Nash .The Bentleys were a little too large for this tight circuit and a little strenuous on the axles and gearboxes etc. But you have to take your hat off to all the competitors for driving with such gusto ! Thamks Richard.

The lary Frazer Nash was set to win I think before hitting axle problems on day 3, the overall winner was one of the Derby-era Bentleys of the mid/late 1930s.

My Grampa has a pickup truck that’s been sat inside farm shed for a very long time the logo is the flying Scotsman I think it’s a kit car as it has a Isuzu turbo diesel engine I’ve been trying to find any information about it but I’m not having any luck haven’t even found a picture similar to the pick up

Beautiful cars, love the '37 Chevy coupe, Scott of Cold War Motors fame has got a 2dr 'Town Sedan' version of the same car.

Some good racing there Rick. They were all giving it the beans but the Frazier Nash was a little over zealous at one point, he probably didn't lose too many seconds! All part of the fun of racing these old cars. One question, why did they have their headlights on for lap two? Thank you Rick for filming and the wind wasn't. well too windy on this occasion. 👍👍

The lights on or off enables the marshalls at the finish line to establish whether the crew heading towards them is at the end of its first "go" (ie lights off), or its second (lights on), in the latter's case they are then pointed towards stage exit.

'Nash has no rear diff. Solid Axle chain drive. Sliding around is normal driving style !

The reason for the lights being on is so that they r marshals can tell which test you are on for test penalties. Test 1 & 2 were different - for test 1 you went around and back to the start to carry out test 2 (where you left the circuit at the end). A few competitors got this wrong so received a penalty for a wrong test. Sadly whilst I did this correctly my spin was captured on this video 🙈🙈. JLo - car 32 😂

The car at 15:45 Rolls Royce was owned by Stirling Moss father and was used to tow Stirlings first race car. Tow bar still attached!
