Man this thing really is a beast, got half my wing ripped off by aa, managed to fly back to base

Yesterday I shot +/- 1000 rounds from my P51 D10 into some Il2 variant and it survived 2 fires put them both out and the gunner shot me down. Of course I should've broke off instead of full commiting to his 6 but the amount of damage it took without dying confused me and angered me at the same time.

Never make a Head on with this plane. I killed so many fighters with this tank, its amazing. and i like the rear gunner version. i have a lot of kills with this reargunner, still the same with Ju87, the gunners are very dangerous. for me the il-2 is a low altitude slow heavy fighter with the possibility to attack ground targets.

Someone should make a separate game about this amazing plane... ;)

This thing eats light pillboxes! Those 23s make for some quick kills on them, I can normally take out 14 or 15 in a single run. She’s a money maker 💰

Using MEC, set your prop ‘pitch’ (it actually models RPM rather than pitch directly if the plane has a constant speed prop, like this one) to between 75-80%. For some reason the system reports the prop efficiency dropping by nearly 10% when on auto, or if the pitch is set to 100%, and using WEP. It’s not complicated with this plane, assuming you are staying low level. WEP - on Radiator - 20-30%, maybe adjust if it overheats Oil Radiator - 20%, same as above Prop pitch - 75-80% If climbing, I will set it back to auto. The engine works fairly well as an air brake if you set 100% pitch and all radiators 100% and throttle to zero. I don’t use MEC for everything but some planes, like this one, get a significant boost once the best parameters have been found. BTW, I haven’t noticed anything WRT using mixture and the system reports 100%. no matter what I set it to so I leave it at default (60%). If anyone has clarification on the mixture situation, I for one, would be grateful. It seems that Gaijin basically removed mixture from many planes as an adjustable element some time ago. I still use 95% on P47s for everything but really high (over 5k) and set Yaks at 45% but I haven’t been able to detect a difference I’m except when set to extremes, it’s more a habit these days. And most planes don’t seem to model mixture (anymore?). This is another example of Gaijin’s wonderful *sarcasm communications with their customers.

Nice video! I've used these planes to eat enemy fighters in ground rb. Never use them much is air realistic though. If you enjoy the il-2 you may enjoy the il-10 as well.

I get 2-3 kills every game in il2

Ive been playing sims since they were wire frames in the 80s and people say that mouse and keyboard is superior these days. Then how comes real drone operators use xbox style gamepads? Im convinced they are better for flight sims over mouse and keyboard especially since when real lives are at stake they use controllers. I just got an xbox controller to try this theory out lol

I think War Thunder shows many of the flaws the real IL-2 had and why dedicated attackers were not as effective as fighter bombers IRL. First it's way too heavy even for an attacker, which makes precision attacks harder to pull. Secondly the armor isn't really useful since the biggest threat is enemy fighters and they can shoot at the unarmored parts in the tail or wings. And third, it cannot carry a big payload because that'd make it so heavy that it couldn't take off. IMO the P-47 or Typhoon are much better in the CAS role than the IL-2 eventhough they are not dedicated bombers.

in my matches, people do avoid headons. In my matches, people do perform hit & run tactics against me. In my matches in IL2 people BnZ me to the death. In my matches, people simply out dogfight me going into vertial. In my matches.... omg JENGAR, STOP REVIEWING USELESS PLANES!
