Many people are familiar with the BlackBerry KEYone and the BlackBerry KEY2, but the BlackBerry Motion was a revolutionary new android concept, bringing the latest version of Android onto a BlackBerry phone that didn't have a keyboard. The BlackBerry Motion has mostly the same specs as the BlackBerry KEYone, but it has a large all touchscreen display, and a physical home button that also works as fingerprint sensor. The battery lasts all day, and the convenience key works as out great. This is a look back at the BlackBerry Motion, over two years later.

Is the build quality solid ? As in the tightness of Corner buttons for volume etc? And the back cover ? My keyone has a creaky back rubber cover and the volume and shutter buttons went loose in 2 years.

@@alikhuramijaz I’ve ended up with getting 2 yes two Blackberry motions batter lasts 3 days and I hardly use my Iphone now as it’s on charge 5 hours a day can’t leave house as it’s battery like all iPhones are crap.

I still use this BlackBerry Motion and Typing this comment using BB Motion. I can't think of using anything else. BlackBerry should come up with Motion 2 (without physical keyboard)

I 've had it for two years now and still doing awesome. Great phone with 5.5 inch screen touch. It's the best phone I've owned so far. Ty blackberry

Enjoy your BlackBerry videos. I had the motion and the black KEYone which I still use alongside a 11pro. Really like BlackBerry Hub, keyboard and the overall blackberry experience.

Also, if you happen to see any weird matrix glitchy stuff going on with the screen... I'm aware of it. The reason is because I used the green screen for thsi video, and the phone screen occasionally caught glimpses of the green screen behind me when I would move it, reflecting the green color on the screen and the video editor thought it needed to be blacked out... I tried to fix it as much as possible but unfortunately I couldn't fix all of it.

The feel of it was fantastic! Those edges on the frame, and it had what might have been their best back panel: so soft yet grippy, I'd put it on the level of a leather back phone. It felt expensive, when you held this thing. It'd be hard to find this thing at a reasonable price, however, because so few were built initially, and only a fraction of those were refunded; so the price is usually bloated to 800+ (while it originally released for 450, which I thought was an excellent price point for something that was a more typically glass-slab and came w/ better features, minus the keyboard). A true gem to hold and use!

Thank you for the excellent video. I am using the Motion as my daily driver. Battery life is still good, reception is great and it looks different from the sea of glass slabs in the marketplace. Straight productivity device.

I bought mine in the summer of 2018. Still a good phone. I've only had problems with the fingerprint sensor. But right now it's working fine. The phone works for what I need: call, text, youtube, google. The camera is not the best, but it's adequate. Battery life is very good. That's one of the reasons I haven't upgraded. If the battery life starts going down then I'll think about buying a new phone. I've had BB phones since 2012 from OS7 to BB10 to Android with BB.

Still using my motion as my daily driver with two sims for work and personal. Still hoping for priv2 though, but really would love if it could be skinned as close to bb10 as possible - I got the z10 at launch, and still miss the bb10 os

I will ALWAYS miss BB10 OS, and I always had hoped for a Priv 2, as I declined to buy the first Private because of that one big quality issue with it(the screen coming off/popping off from it!)...

Bought the Motion @ launch, was a great device for the most part. Camera was its nemesis being the main reason I threw in the towel after 16 months. And BTW, Motion's camera was a "downgrade" from the KEYone's as they used different lenses/modules... Just recently sold off my Motion and KEYone.

I love my Motion - except for one thing... It doesn't make noise unless I plugin headphones. It's still under warranty, but I have to switch back to my PRIV which doesn't charge properly - so I need to get that fixed before sending it back.

No suggestions, Ian, but my son owned a Classic, and the Classic is a nice choice if you don't want a phone as big or as wide as the PP, and you don't mind a smaller screen-3.5 vs 4.5...The only thing that I did not like about the Classic was that it only had 16 gigs of storage compared to my PP, that had 32 gigs, and was such a step up from all the other smartphone that I had owned, as all the other ones only ever had 4 or 8 gigs...

How can I disable the hub? Does this mess with the phone? Can I delete some of the bloatewhere ? Does thos mess with the phone operating? Running out of memory .. You can turn the hub off to free up memory by going into settings > apps >> and then select the app and force stop and disable.

The Z30 was my favorite phone to use. I was always hoping they would come out with a new version of a Z30 like phone. By the time the Motion came out I had my sights set on a (then) upcoming Galaxy s9+ . I still hope BlackBerry would make a top of the line premium phone.

I switch between my Motion and Dtek 60. The 60 is still good for daily use. The 820 processor is faster than the 625 chip in the Motion. Also, the Oled screen looks better than the LCD screen on the Motion. Lastly, the 60 still has the swipe up gesture to open 3 primary apps. Downsides... the 3000 mah battery does not last as long as the Motion's battery and it is slippery... get a case.

@@nkagisangmaamogo3374 Yes, it had flagship specs comparable to the Galaxy S7 when it was released. I use mine every weekend. I used the motion during the week due to not worrying about battery life. The 60 will get you through the work day if you don't constantly use phone. (Videos, gaming)

After my Z30 I went to a DTEK60 and really liked it although I was having B10 withdrawals. But just as I was going to take a trip to South Africa the camera gave out. I ended up with a Pixel 3 and it's not bad and does take good pics. Still missing my BBs though from the Storm 1 through the DTEK.

Been trying to get this phone as a replacement to my mom's Zed 30. But it was so hard to find and expensive to justify. So, I ended up getting the DTEK 60.

@@yaniqueedmond532 Sorry to hear that. That sucks. What price range are you looking in? If you're a BlackBerry user, you probably care for things like effiency, simplicty, and function. If you're looking on the inexpensive side, I would say the Pixel 3 AXL. If you're looking more expensive, I would say Pixel 4 XL. The Google phones have been the best transition phones for me. Also, iPhone XR or iPhone 11 - simply because the typing experience is hands down the best, and most accurate, if you don't have a keyboard.

I think BlackBerry should have 4 phones launched this year if they want to be unique and purposeful. A BlackBerry Classic sized phone for cheaper price and less size , which can be used as a secondary or personal device. A BlackBerry Key3 , Passport and Priv ! Without being cheaper like the Oneplus , there is no point in coming back.

My minds going crazy and I feel like wanna buy one. If I get one people gonna stare at me like BlackBerry? People with expensive iPhones will be so jealous. Glad that your still into BlackBerry. I remember 2008 Thai international students with BlackBerrys at my school here in West Auckland and looking at it and I was like these rich spoiled kids with an expensive phone 🙄

I'm using BlackBerry DTEK60 right now since 2018. The only things the problem is the battery. Change new battery, my phone works like new.

Still remember how tough blackberry phone is back then, if blackberry can create bigger screen bezel less phone with sliding keypad and strong baterai maybe they can win the market again.

I never got to try the motion. I was on Verizon. Loved z10,Z30, Priv, and now Key 2. I have the physical keyboard. What a waste.

I bought one recently and I am experiencing some intermittent performance issues. I hope someone can help resolve this. I am not using many apps, but eBay and Kijiji tend to stall for a few seconds and then come back alive. I don’t multitask much... Adam any ideas? I am thinking of removing these apps to see the difference!

Yeah, I'm not sure. Try uninstalling and reinstalling them and see if there is any improvement.

@@TechOdyssey I actually submitted a question to TCL and they responded. They are still supporting their product although as you mentioned- no updates. They asked me a bunch of questions. I think the issue maybe an old SD card that could be sluggish. This could be causing the stalling (read/write) from SD card. I will remove it and see if it helps. Keep you posted.

I would have to ask what for, and what you plan on doing with it and what your expectations are. for 99% of people, the answer to that question would likely be a solid no.

I had a Z30 for the last 5 years, the camera turned to junk and the GPS quit working so I switched to an Android phone, I'm having serious BlackBerry withdrawals, since 2003 it's all I've used except for 2 years with an iPhone 4.

I loved the Z30. It was such a good phone. I bought one the day it came out at Verizon. I didn't even have Verizon service. I paid for verizon service just so I could use it. I really do miss BB10. I don't think the desire to use a blackberry really goes away. Even though I have the best phones available on the market right now, I still miss my physical keyboard and my blackberries. I've been using them since 2005, so I understand completely.
