best scene of the whole movie IMO I obviously don't own any of this, I'm just uploading to share the scene.

This is my favorite part of the movie and it's because of how the editor insisted that it should be kept in the article, when the writer "couldn't agree less." Not only was the editor not there to witness the sadness on Nescaffier's expression, but he doesn't at all relate to nor resonate with both Nescaffier's and the writer's loneliness for being foreigners (something that the writer discussed multiple times throughout the story about how he was imprisoned for his sexuality and how he never belongs anywhere and is always alone with food on a table wherever he goes).

Here's what I found interesting: Roebuck Wright *doesn't* tell this bit to the interviewer in the future. We only learn it when it shows him talking with his editor, with the editor insisting that the selection should be included in the article--the one he's reciting supposedly word-for-word in the television interview. So why not? Did Roebuck never put the reference into the article (since the editor died before the article went to print), or does he chose not to recite it to the interviewer, because he thinks it should never have been added at all? Of course, regardless of what was in the article itself, the point is the same--the conversation was too private, too intimate to print for all to see, or to recite on camera for a segment designed to promote tooth powder. It may have been the whole point, the entire idea that gave everything meaning, but Roebuck didn't want it stated.

The tenderness of this scene... Two foreigners consoling eachother for their loneliness... I feel as if this film was a commentary on loneliness. Wright is seen burdened by it. We see krementz struggle with hers. Sazerac and Barensen are both sort of thriving with their loneliness, but all in all, I feel like that is a very important aspect of this film

Having experienced this exact quote moving to the USA and living there for 4 years. It brings me to tears how utterly true it is. “Seeking something missing. Missing something left behind.” That feeling doesn’t go away simply moving to a place you’d hope to find it. You miss those you love. Your family. Your old neighbourhood and even the weather. You miss the familiarness. The memorization of every road and restaurant. Even though those were the reasons you left in the first place. No matter where you go or what you do some part of you will always be left behind. Like a wallet holding bills, at some point you have to leave your money on the table, you may want that money back, yet without leaving it on the table you would have never experienced life after. Life is what happens when you’re making plans. Thank you for reading.

The only good scene in the movie and if you understand the secret meaning behind it it’s actually genius. But the rest of the movie was a bore.

What’s the secret meaning behind the scene?
@LordofAssassins432 жыл бұрын
@@nuclearreactor395 it’s up to interpretation. But everyone in enui is a foreigner in some regard. Everyone is trying to live up to the expectations others have set for them. The police commissioners son, attempting to solve cold cases. The young rebel believing he is invincible and climbing a tower. Or even the lunatic artist lashing out in rage in front of an audience, only to then protect them. Societies pressures are everywhere and is a serious underlying theme of this film. We all aren’t in the business of being a disappointment.
