Your point about how a great 4K can make it feel like you’re watching a familiar film for the very first time again, is so vital, and what I always say to people time and time again when they question why they should upgrade to yet another new format. I recently showed my dad the opening scene of Blade Runner on my 55” LED and he just quietly said: “I might have to start saving up”

I’m usually not a fan of WB’s reworked artwork, but this one works. It does look a lot like a poster for one of those late 90s early 2000s thrillers so it fits

Last time i watched this was on VHS and even at 9 years old, i remember expecting a bad movie due to it being based on an old TV show. I was impressed, but kind of forgot about the film until remaster got anounced. Your praise has me looking forward to watching this.

Great video. I am just now getting into 4K, The Fugitive is one of my fav Ford flicks ever. This was a no brainer. I love your enthusiasm for this particular 4K release. It's officially the 2nd 4K disc I purchased.

The other reviews were over-the-top- negative ... we detect copy-cat-echo-chamber ... and found yours to be more accurate to the source material and budget constraints imposed on the production. We are thoroughly glad we purchased "American Graffiti" on 4K. Again, your reviews are some of the best out there!

I saw the Truman show 20 or 30 times in my lifetime from VHS to DVD to Blu-ray and when I saw it on 4K it was literally like the first time!

Good review. I do like .. The Fugitive.. but I always thought it was overrated a bit. I remember Ford on Oprah saying they started shooting without a finished script and they had no ending. And it definitely shows IMO. The last 10 minutes of film always seem rushed as if they made it up as they went along. And for my money... WITNESS... blows this film out of the water.

From what I’ve read Fugitive was actually an 8K scan which may be why there’s such a discernible increase in quality, color, and depth

Been waiting on this review and happy to hear the good news. Had the dvd back in the day, but never got the blu, i guess because of the blandness of the release and it just fell though the cracks. Very excited to revisit on 4k. Oddly, the story is exactly the same for me with Air Force One.

Great review James! This really is a gorgeous 4K transfer! I always wonder how the release could have got a 10/10 from you. My guess is the special features. Regardless, I think a 9.8 is definitely one of the highest scores I've seen you give. Have a happy Thanksgiving!

I've been waiting for this one, and haven't seen it before. Great to see that it's a proper release. Hopefully the local release is good too, sometimes we only get BD-66 in Europe with much lower bitrates (which can't be checked without the disk in hand, of course).

Since you deal with a lot of DVDs, may I ask you a related question? Yesterday I had a new Sony 4K DVD player installed to replace one that had broken, and it seemed that all was good, until when it was playing my new Ford vs Ferrari 4K disc. It froze up several times. I am playing an old DVD at the moment to see how it tracks so far it’s good. My question is how often do you see a defective 4K DVD? Is that unusual or common thank you, kindly Joe.

A Great Review as usual 👍👌 There is an Australian Release which contains both 4K + 1080p Blu-Ray Disks. (May also be available in other country's, im unsure of this) As a 1080p Blu-Ray collector, Would you have any information regarding if the Std (1080p) Blu-Ray Disk recieved a Mastered In 4K Treatment ? or is it just the Same version as the previous Blu-Ray release ? I have researched a bit with no clear answers. 🤷‍♂️ I assume it would be but we all know what assumptions lead to. 😁 I would love to know before I consider purchasing this latest 4K + Blu-Ray release. Good film; I remember seeing it in theaters when it came out with a girlfriend at the time. We watch it every year on St Patrick's Day because of the parade scene.... However, I have Warners remastered Blu-ray, and it honestly looks good enough on our 65" upscaled to 4K via our disc player(s).
