The statement that we are Nigerians first before being whatever ethnic group we are is a wrong assertion. Nigeria is an integration of various ethnic groups. I am first me, a yoruba man with a culture and ethnic beliefs and considerations. If the Nigeria would not accommodate the whole of me, then it needs restructuring is needed to let me be able to be who I am within the larger entity called Nigeria.

Indeed, every Nigerian belongs to his/her ethnic group before Nigeria because Nigeria is a group of nations.

100% nationalism was the first casualty post colonialism and the new dawn of the republic. It was designed to perpetuate internal conflicts. Its the same issue in most African countries. The best way is to tear down national bounderies and restructure our own societies. This thing called Nigeria Republic is a private organisation listed in London. We are simply tax payers in this game of chess.

All what you're saying is gilberish. Sorry your professorship is questionable; because you know you're being deceitful. And that has been your game for a long time.. You knew what you're doing and saying is all to your advantage; and to the detriment of others. Which constitution are you referring to? The one written by Yadudu; imposed on us all by Abdul Salami Abubakar under the disguise that he wanted to leave in 1999 when he knew everything in the constitution favors the North. And for your information; we're not Nigerians first. I'm Yoruba first before anything. My race and other nationalities including yours has been in existence before the British came and gave you the advantage over us when they were leaving. You created your problems for yourselves when you created Sharia in twelve (12) northern states; and you were warned. But you never listen; Go on if you want to keep killing yourselves, please continue to do so; but leave us out of your madness of valuing cow's lives more than human lives. Do face your problems; and let us face ours. Out we want, going we're going. We're not the same. I'm Yoruba; You're Fulani. We're not in anyway the same. Please give me a break from your constant one Nigerianess of Deceitful patriotism. Go and carry your cross and let me carry mine.

"This union has failed" because the families failed, LGAs failed and the states failed. No one cares about the development of his town or state anymore as everybody wants free money to loot. For example, the NDDC was created to develop the Niger Delta. The indigenes of Delta in charge have been looting it since the creation of NDDC.

I feel for this guy. Seems educated. But he is starred in the face with his kinsman in the government who said he will favour the percentage of those who voted him in. But sadly his (buhari) ineptitude has blown up in their faces. Their women are raped and their children killed by themselves. But if this country were to remain one the yorubas and the Igbos would want to avert the same fate befalling them like it is in the north. Although the insecurity is everywhere. Hence the clamour for restructuring or a break up!!!

@comrade RSA Incorruptible It is a well-known fact that they do not possess the leadership qualities needed to lead, move the country forward, and halt the disintegration that is taking place before our eyes. Despite the existence of mountains of information that Nigeria is on the precipice of doom, they have failed to take decisive measures to address these problems, failed to deliver on campaign promises to improve the lives of ordinary citizens but have instead engaged in double-speak and blame games (“The Igbos caused this…”) The key question to ask is: Will they be willing to give up power for the better of the people of Nigeria?

@jackson oladira this is a very important question you just asked....and the answer to your question from my own point of view is that the fulanis are very very smart people because they are all planning for the raining day when it happens then they can use their Military,Police,Navy,Air Force which they are heading PRESENTLY IN Nigerians.... Bro its all planned out the fulanis can plan their strategy for 50 or 100 years before they strike ....they dont want restructuring or break up, they are all waiting for second civil war they are well prepared as ever before!

@Larry Ade Many of them are agents acting on behalf of the Fulani ruling class from locations in the South. They have sold their conscience in return for money, to allow the North to oppress us. They don't have the power to change anything. The real power is in the hands of those who control the military bases, are in charge of government, the courts, the state security apparatus, those who order python dances, organize mass theft of resources, and provide it with international legal cover. the Fulani dominate every aspect.

Prof Usman was busy talking of insecurity in the North, and without a solution to this insecurity in the North, there will be no restructuring. This is a statement of impunity and domineering ownership of this country. The insecurity is an effect. The question is what is the cause of this insecurity in the north. Until North addresses the cause of this insecurity, they will continue to be enveloped by it. And this flagrant display of impunity and ownership of this country should be strongly rejected by the other federating geo-political zones of this country period.

What exactly is ethno centrism or how are we ethnocentric by calling for restructuring/true federalism? Are we still practicing the same federalism we agreed on in 1960? We are practising a unitary system where by the central controls all as well as favouring the north and you still don't get it. They contribute little or nothing but they are the greatest beneficiary of this contraption called Nigeria. How many core northern will you find in europe and America doing menial jobs? Most of all Nigeria embassy are dominated by them as well as the federal civil service back at home. A country that makes use of quota system as against meritocracy. We all know the professor is being economical with the truth. If it were you too, am sure you wouldn't wanna let go of a system that benefits you. Most likely, you're a beneficiary of one Nigeria but many of us are not. Am an economic immigrant in Europe but this is against my will. Am just tired of people feeling they're smarter or better than another by virtue of their tribes... it's nonesense and intellectually laziness THE GREATEST PROBLEM WE HAVE AS A NATION IS OUR DISRESPECT AND OUTER IGNORANT OF WHO OUR NEIGHBORS ARE. IT'S SO ABSURD WHEN SOMEONE THINK THEY ARE WISER OR SMARTER THAN ANOTHER PERSON BY VIRTUE OF THEIR ETHNICITY, OR ANOTHER BELIEVE THE OTHER ETHNIC ARE TO BE SUBJECTED TO SUBHUMAN OR THAT THEY'RE BORN TO LORD OVER OTHERS. ALL THESE MINDSET MUST BE PURGE OUT OF OUR MINDSET TO MOVE FORWARD COLLECTIVELY AS A NATION. The Qur'an teaches that all people were created equally by Allah. Therefore, he is probably ignorant of the Lancaster House agreement that gave rise to Nigerian Independence. If he has ever listened to Chief Adebanjo of Afenefere he will know he will know that Nigeria's stability cannot be guaranteed without a new Constitution. There must be self-governance for federating units as agreed in Lancaster. House.

Arise News should have brought Dele Farotimi to educate this Professor on what 'Restructuring' means. If crude oil in commercial quantity should be found in one of the states in the North, I bet Prof. would quickly understand restructuring.

You don't expect anything more from the beneficiary of this worped system. You will notice that these people will always say: restructuring means different things to different people, so forget it. They don't want to restructure and MNK is 100% correct. He is divinely inspired to know their thinking, so something has to give way soon for any forward movement. Thank goodness people are getting ready.

This is the worst episode of your program that I've ever watched! How could the prof sidestep or deliberately parry all the questions he was asked, making so much smoke rather than barbeque? Is he being evasive on purpose? Or is he given to circumlocution? Abeg!

Ok,the country should continue restructuring until we have a perfect country but it better to go back to regional governments as the colonial master left it for us in 1960.
