For Physics enthusiasts:
Physics lecture on "The Fundamental Forces of Nature" by Suresh Kodoor
Force exists as a result of interaction between objects. It doesn’t exist independently without interaction. i.e, we need at least two objects interacting, one object to exert force and another object to experience it. So, to be precise, it is not the force that acts on an object, but it is an object that is acting on the other object. Force is the result of this interaction. If there is no object that is exerting force on you, then well, there isn’t any force acting on you!
Every single such interaction happening in the universe can be broken down and described by four fundamental types of interactions or forces.
Gravitational force
Electromagnetic force
Strong nuclear force
Weak nuclear force
These are called the four fundamental forces in nature. All other forces can be broken down to one of these fundamental forces or a combination thereof. However, these relationships are not straight forward, rather they are pretty complex.
Well, the count will be 3 if you go by General Relativity and even 2 if we go by Quantum Physics!
Is the Gravity due to fields? or Space-time curvature? or Virtual force-carrying particle graviton? ... The world of physics is always exciting, intriguing and mind-blowing!
