Gay was a tremendous broadcaster and presenter. He will surely be missed.

He probed, prodded, pushed, cajoled Ireland in to the 20th century...he made us take a long hard look at ourselves, and it was not pretty, or comfortable viewing to be honest...RIP Gaybo +++ A great man!

Accusing Mr. Byrne, or anyone for that matter, of a crime he did not commit has nothing to do with Mr. Gay Byrne. Instead, your false allegation is a result of your own issue. Lucky for you, English and Irish law have chosen not to pursue tort of defamation claims brought by family or an EPA on behalf of the deceased.

@@TheRose087 AMEN!!! They know they can come on here and make these claims because there is no way to provide proof via KZfaq comment. They are part of the unfortunately common "keyboard warrior". What proves their comments are 100% their issue and 0% with Mr. Byrne is, logically able adults with integrity are obviously freely allowed to dislike Mr. Byrne. Those who possess a logical frame of mind and operate with even a basic integrity would proceed with their choice to dislike the man and leave it at that. They wouldn't seek out a video of Mr Byrne's funeral AND choose to add a hateful comment.
