This is beautiful, but if we're talking the FUNKIEST - you should check out Maceo Parkers version of Hallelujah I Love Her So, the live performance he plays with the WDR big band. The piano player looks like he works at a bank, but when it's time for his solo he just goes ape shit funky.

@@WynnofThule I love how he grows more and more feral, the longer it goes, until he just uses the palms of his hands. In the end he is only stopped by Maceo starting his own solo. Otherwise who knows where that would have ended. 🤣

How’d you go about erasing the background from the sheet music?
@notebooktranscriptions
@notebooktranscriptions Жыл бұрын
In Musescore you can export scores as PNG, there is a checkbox to remove background :)
@UkuleleAversion
@UkuleleAversion Жыл бұрын
@@notebooktranscriptions Damn. Sibelius really sucks. It's pricey as hell yet I can't even remove background when I go to export my sheet music. I appreciate you telling how you go about it though.
@notebooktranscriptions
@notebooktranscriptions Жыл бұрын
@@UkuleleAversion Of course! Another option would be when you import the images to your editing software, to just key out the white background like you would with a greenscreen. I imagine the quality of the edges would lessen a bit but could possibly do the trick! Perhaps as a workaround you could import your score to Musescore as it is free, and export it from there Happy transcribing!

@notebooktranscriptions

It’s hard to pin down for sure. As I had the same question (being unable to see the logic and more or less coming up with your same answer) I’ve consulted other jazz musicians and It’s probably a mix of those plus just being led by his ear.

Hi there! On the F7s, what is he playing? Like your typical F7, or is he altering it?
@notebooktranscriptions
@notebooktranscriptions Жыл бұрын
Not sure whether you mean LH or RH but it varies, in this solo he seems to be altering / going outside more on the C7 and then coming back to a mixolydian / blues sound on the F7. There are a few times he alters the F7 though.

I'd have to disagree! Jumping straight into the piano solo with an immediate outside idea is something I think is rarely encountered, nor done in a way where it was as effective as those first few bars!
