We’ve had numerous consultations on burns. I always recommend a product called Second Skin. Takes the burn pain out almost instantly.

Having burning hot rocks scattered through the tent sounds like it could have painful consequences. I get the general idea behind it. How big do the rocks need to be to make a big enough difference to matter?B

@@Thalanox I would imagine to make a big enough difference, baseball size or bigger. The bigger the rock the longer the heat retention. Thanks for watching

Put velcro tabs on the inside of the tent, and then velcro tabs on some space blankets or similar, hang them up at the ceiling areas mostly, and the combo of the IR reflecting and air space will add significant warmth to the system.

If you added an intake fan, you would burn out (oxidize) the metal in no time. Even a pure titanium stove would be challenged by that.

All the RMH stoves that fail, are the ones who use too much metal in their construction (especially in the burn chamber and riser).

@@justinw1765 Makes sense. I wonder to what degree that could be prevented with various coatings/layers. Granted then you can have a “crevice corrosion” issue of sorts with any imperfections or scratches, and that also adds complexity.

@@ericlotze7724 Best coating to use is one that contains a majority amount of zirconium oxide. It has a very high temp rating and is very efficient at reflecting IR. There are ones made for ceramics, and ones made for metal. They tend to be on the expensive side though. Probably the cheapest one is called Heat Guard. I just bought some for nonmetal use. It was 55 for 3 lbs, I think. Edit, it was 5 lbs, not 3lbs.

Ive never had a problem with AliExpress. I do always use a form of payment that is backed up like PayPal or credit card so if something happens I can dispute it. @@A_Sense_Of_Purpos3 setup is pretty quick, unfold and put the pipes together. It’s not a small stove even when folded. Won’t fit in a backpack, wouldn’t want it on my back either lol, it’s not light at all.

Hmmm I’m not sure the loading door would have enough space to open if I added rope to the hopper cracks. It’s all pretty tight. If its not pulled out completely it gets stuck. Were you thinking on the inside attached to the hopper to seal against the burn box? T

@@AdventureswithSpackmann Yes. That's what I was thinking. I'm imagining the hopper having some kind of lip that keeps it from coming out and gluing a little strand of the rope stuff on that lip. So it hits the backside of the place it usually hits and stops on. Maybe even some kind of latch or wedge to hold it open against the seal too. That stove is so cool as it is though. Having that glass on the top part ,to see those flames just-a-ripping through there is wicked cool. nice to watch. I had to do a similar deal on the door of a little tent /camping stove I bought. I had put it in a camper but the pipe is just too small to draft right and smoke would come out around the door and cracks until it started a good burn. So I sealed er up a bit. Also put a tray under the door for embers that can fall out when opened. It worked good. I had a piece of the rope and the high temp glue, from fixing my big regular stove in my house. I just un-twisted it and got a bunch of little ropes. The stuff flattens out good as to still be able to close the door and latch it. It's was just not designed for indoor use. The two 90 degree elbows I used to get the pipe out a window, probably didn't help the drafting situation ,lol. But now it works like a charm.

@@immrnoidall gotcha yeah that’s what it is, a lip that stops it. I could add rope there but the door to the hopper also has a lip that I would believe wouldn’t allow it to close if you added rope. Sealing it would definitely slow the burn down so maybe I’ll check into it and see if it would fit there. You’re stove, is it the Caribou Outbacker stove?

@@AdventureswithSpackmann If it is sucking in air, maybe something on the outside of the crack. if it don't cause the same issue when folding it up. A small piece will flatten out pretty good. But I see the area you're talking about. How about one piece that goes arount it on the outside, held with magnets?

If you mean the long cook area after the firebox before it exits through the pipe then no. I have not had a problem drafting this stove or any other that function like a rocket stove. Once most stoves, that draft properly, get hot there usually isn’t a problem with draw(I have stoves that don’t draft properly). The heat helps with the thermodynamics to draw it up and out. 90 elbows: I almost always use two elbows with my setups. Just usually how I need to setup. But just like the cook top, once the pipes get hot enough, it draws and draft fine. Winnerwell: is your question regarding the new secondary burn thingy? Thanks for watching

Also, enough vertical draw needs to be in place to allow for horizontal fire. I’m sure there is some formula online some where. Mass rocket stove heaters actually go down before back up with the draft, they are pretty cool, check them out on KZfaq

Thanks for the reply. For Winnerwell, no. More like using 2 x 90-degree pipes. The idea was I prefer routing the pipe horizontal straight out a side window thus ‘ideally’ no holes (stove jacks) in tent roof and rain fly… then algorithm brought me to your very unique cool looking stove :)

do they have a pellet system? it shouldnt be hard to adapt the feed door to a pellet feeder.. for longer heat a couple big stones under neath the stove and large pots of water or sand on top, that mat not be practicable for backpacking but that stove could use a sledge or freakin motorized cart... lol

@Doc Ink fans would push the heat around great. They pellet system they have replaces the top burner on the rocket stove. Sits on top of the burn chamber. Not on the door. Not sure why they did that and not on the door but maybe there is a reason. You’re right it’s not for backpacking but I don’t backpack a long distance in the winter and I always have a sled so weight usually isn’t an issue. This is totally a huge stove for base camp or parking lot camping. Imagine putting 4 wheels on it with a motor and having it pull your gear too lol. Thanks for watching

It is a big stove and should be used in a big tent. But I’ve used it in a hammock tent smaller than this and it worked well. When I use it in a tent like this, it’s parallel to the wall instead of perpendicular like shown in this video. Thanks for watching
