Recording of BHS National 'Future Hydrology in a Changing Environment' Webinar from Wednesday 28th October 2020 given by Dr Chris White (Head of the Centre for Water, Environment, Sustainability and Public Health; University of Strathclyde).
Hydrological forecasting is one of the most effective water resource management and flood and drought disaster risk mitigation measures. Hydrological forecasts rely heavily on data and models, which have seen continuous development and improvement over recent years. However, inherent uncertainties will always remain, meaning that decisions are (and will continue to be) made in the face of uncertainty. This presentation will demonstrate (recent) progress in hydrological forecasting across various predictive timescales, ranging from real-time to seasonal to climatic, and explore the future potential of hydrological forecasting.
The meeting was hosted by BHS Honorary Secretary Lucy Barker.
