Is this your first jam and have no clue how a jam works? Well I'm glad you found this video! Here, I'm going to explain my strategy for game jams that I developed after about 2 years of game jams. Enjoy!

How to write GOOD FEEDBACK:
- Never say "this is bad", always try to say how you'd improve it to make it better.
- Never just write "I enjoyed it", provide some extra context to that, like which parts of the game you liked the most and stuff like that.
- Always try to make your comment have some value towards the developer(s).
- Don't worry about your comment sounding too negative. A good developer should be able to handle constructive criticism, but at the same time make sure you aren't making a hate comment. If you justify your comments, you should be fine, but sometimes you just shouldn't write about certain things.
- Remember that writing comments gives you so called "karma points". This makes your game show up more often to other jammers. The way this works is completely undisclosed, but the more you comment and rate games, the more your game shows up.

Thanks for this! I especially like the point of making the game look appealing while working on it; just adding a few favorite colors and some less than perfect graphics helped reignite my drive to work on my practice project haha

Wish I saw this video when I started jamming It took me a few years to realise that my games sounded better when I wasn't the one making audio for them

Very good and helpful video. Especially I agree on the part about making game visually appealing early. By doing it you already cover part of your project and having a better feel for the final product.

Wow! This video was very nice and well put together! I decided to join the Pirate Software game jam even though I don't know what I'm doing, meaning the only thing I know how to do is print "hello world" in Python and C, lol! But I decided to jump in anyway to give it a shot.

My question is not about jams, so sorry for that. Could you suggest some learning material for game dev math? I missed uni thus don't really have a grasp on where should I start with math. Assuming from the videos you've created thus far, you have quite the experience in this area.

You don't need any maths skills other than some vector basics. (the only complex one I "regularly" use is the dot product, for that I recommend watching kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aLaihrh8lrzWe3U.html) I'm literally a high school student.
