The incident at 4:05 went like this- The 4 boys were at the 7-11 at 50 street and 118 ave, and they were approached by a couple young native women, and were in vited to a party. They said sure let's go. When they got to the house, which was up 50 street a ways, they were jumped by a bunch of native males, pushed into the basement and beat and tortured for hours. This happen in Northern communities too. Young workers will be in town having some R&R time when they get approached by some local women, and get invited to a bush party. When they get there, the local native men take over. They get robbed beaten or worse.

I feel terrible for this couple that tried were developing their own little property management portfolio. They had a quadplex plus a basement apartment that had a great setup, lots of storage with a very open space. I really liked the unit. As a quick background, I am indigenous, but I am adopted. I had just taken a year off of work and was looking for a pet friendly rental to raise my puppy in. I did no background work on checking out neighborhoods, I just moved in. It didn't take long to realize that the people in the basement were probably the reason why these people had bought this place at a good price. I am pretty sure they were dealing drugs, as the front door was being opened all day and night. There was a 24 hour convenience store across the street that always had foot traffic around it. This one native guy that wore red shoes would come around with the same little group, any time I was on the balcony he always asked me if he could come up and smoke one with me, I kept refusing. One day I had a couch being dropped off, the front door was propped open, so this fat drunk native girl just saunters into my place. I put my hand on her to ask her to leave, her pants fall to the floor and she starts having a tantrum as we all cart her outside. A day or two later I get a knock on the door, it's a cop knock.. we all know it. I look out the peephole to see no body. The RCMP officer heard me coming towards the door and took cover around the corner. I opened the door, she asked about some person, I explained that I had just moved in and had no affiliation with anyone here. Seeing the way that she ducked out of the way of the door, I asked her if I should be worried, she asked me if I had any cameras in the place. Later that day, I was playing with the Pup and I think she barked or whined. This woman just starts screaming in the hallway WHERES MY BABY THEY HAVE MY BABY. I am concerned, Sam starts barking and she starts pounding on my door. Foolishly, I opened it thinking I could calm her down. She nearly shoved me aside trying to walk into my place, I told her there's no kid here just a dog, then shoved her back from my door and closed it. Finally. I think they sent a skinny girl to like set me up? I was taking the pup out for a walk (she was like 3 months old at this point) and this girl came up to me and sort of asked if she could come with me on the walk. I said sure.. but I was suspicious. I got about a block away then said hey.. I changed my mind, i'm just going to head home. She said that she had nowhere to go and asked if she could hang out with me. I said fine. She kept telling me about this adult toy store just down the road and that we should walk there (there's no store) Any way.. she hangs around until like 2 or 3 in the morning, waiting for me to fall asleep when I ask her where I can drop her off. She tells me that she is staying at her brothers place.. so I give her a lift, watch her walk up the driveway then pull out.. do a u turn and wouldn't you know it? this skinny little thing is walking in like -15 degree weather AWAY from the home that she told me she lived in. I am fairly sure she was just waiting for me to fall asleep so she could either rob me or let the guys in to jump me. I reach out to the landlord, and say hey, I think you have some drug dealers in the basement, they were like yes, we know. I am cursing the lease and the fact that I didn't ask any damn questions. About a month later, it's winter time now. I believe they served the tenants in the basement with an eviction notice for renovating which I believe is a two month notice. These clowns downstairs started slamming the doors, then leaving the lobby doors wide open, just regular clown stuff. About two weeks into December we had a serious cold spell, on that same night they found a way to get in the mechanical room and shut off the boiler. When the owners came and turned it back on, about a half an hour later pandemonium just broke out. Boiling hot water was spewing out from every pipe, it was so hot that I really had no way to stop it and was more concerned with keeping paws safe. So much water seeped through the walls that it was pouring out of the grout between the bricks on the outside of the building, which quickly froze and expanded. I can only imagine how much dirty water that started off boiling hot and then probably ended up freezing cold ended up in the basement, it would have destroyed everything that the tenants had in there. So a bit of instant karma. I ended up moving out to a much nicer area with great neighbors and even more space. It was mostly uneventful save for another very cold night (hypothermia warnings) at about 4am I heard a knock on my front window. Normally i'd ignore it, but it was so damn cold. It was a frail old native woman who was looking for someone named Richard. Having gotten mail for a Richard in my mailbox I surmised it was the previous tenant (who died in the unit, LL didn't tell me) I invited her in, she told me she caught the last bus across the city, was fighting with her sister and had nowhere to go. I made her some soup and made her a bed on the couch and sent her back home on the bus the following day. Her fingers looked okay, but she said they were numb. 10711 104st NW, if you look on google maps you can still see that one of the windows that are boarded up, the rest look like they are occupied so not all was lost at least. Edmonton was nuts, I got treated like I was the problem, I was followed in stores and seemed to be related to anyone that wanted a few bucks or a cigarette. It made me forget that I genuinely like helping people on the streets, which is something that I am resuming now that I am out here in Kelowna.

Theres a gang of Canadian geese that have taken over downtown Vancouver. They can be quite agressive.

thank you for posting this video of my city as a resident who lived there for most of my childhood in the Collingwood area before i moved out to saddle lake (which is a 2 hour drive from Edmonton) so i could continue schooling. now i luckily never had to deal with the gangs of Edmonton but try dealing with the gangs of saddle lake. it's either equally or more worse out here since it's a rural area and the time it takes for police officer's to respond out here takes minutes at best (not to mention almost everyone knows each other out here including the police officer's) not to mention the horrible acts of violence that takes place out here not even 3 months ago someone was beaten then had their arm hacked off with a machete and that is only one story that i have been allowed to hear from my mother and i've even had my own uncle try to recruit me into one of the gangs out here but thankfully he took me saying no at face value and never bothered me again about anything like that or what he does. i hope someday you can come out here and do a video explaining the gangs of saddle lake because everyone needs to know about it. love the video, keep up the great work and stay safe out there.

I've lived in Edmonton since 1978. I've lived in the north Millbourne area of Millwoods since 1989. Most of the "gang problems" in Millwoods have been centered around the Jackson heights area. I've never had trouble with gangs of any kind. I've had more hassles with drunks and homeless than anything else. First time i saw a hells angels biker was on a visit to Vancouver back in 2009.

This is an excellent video. Like stated I had no idea there were so many gangs here. Interesting. I find the LRT is used as a mode of transport for smaller gangs to get around town. It certainly changed the landscape.

Edmonton is actually really safe. I sold "products" in this city for 7 years and never ran into problems with gangs. They're out there if you're looking for them, but they do a good job keeping low key. And they aren't really an open problem like they are maybe in some US cities. Just don't flip off any tinted window BMWs or Mercedes or Lexus because you don't know who's on the other side of the glass, that's my recommendation.

Wow, I'm surprised at how many gangs there are in Edmonton and all over Canada. Thanks for such an informative video. It's good to be aware of what's going on. At the same time it makes me want to move to a secluded island. People always claim that Mexico and Central America is dangerous, but Edmonton is bad too. I had my pickup truck stolen over a year ago and I'm wondering which gang might be involved.

I worked security at an after hours club in downtown Edmonton in the late 1990's and early 2000's and I had a few scary interactions with Vietnamese gangs. Some high profile members were actually quite helpful to keep the peace but sometimes a rival group would show up and things got squirrley.

Is very upsetting what you said, and police as well as many politicians are saying;" if you are not involved in drug dealing or criminal activity you should not be worry" . This is very bad statement, I'm not feeling safer, rather even worse, because according to what you just say we regular fox, when we will be in the wrong place and in the wrong time seems like this will be our fault. My neighbour mother of four, the youngest just couple months old, was kill in her own house by gang members which you actually mentioned (those who beheaded some person). According to police they make mistake, it was wrong house. My house was close to her, that can be member of my family including my self. All gang activity, and gang members should be punished, and keep in prisons like in El Salvador before will be to late, and theirs activity will be out of control.

In the 1970's it was the motorcycle club called The Rebels, they were the powerhouse, and long ago absorbed by the Hells Angels.

I’ve lived in Edmonton for 25 years, and Vancouver for 7. I spent over 10 years in active addiction, and came in contact with these gangs throughout edmonton to support my addictions. I have lots of “friends” (using acquaintances) that are/were parts of these gangs and are all either in jail or dead now ☠️🙏 I’m 3 years clean next week and am soo grateful to be out of that lifestyle. Its an incredibly disgusting way to live, and extremely hard to get out of the lifestyle when you become so engaged within it. It consumes you, and it truly feels like there is no escape. The worst part is that it’s only getting worse by the day. The Government Is making it harder and harder for those trying to seek recovery, and it’s very sad. Population increase, poverty, and immigration are fuelling the streets and rivalries between gangs, and it’s becoming sooo much worse as this continues. This info is on point btw. Well done.

Now you should do the same format, except with politicians as the gangsters like how downtown Edmonton city centre mall is pretty much dead because of legit gangs allowing street gangs to happen.

I live in the North East end of Edmonton by the Northlands colesium by 118th avenue. I used to be homeless, but I no longer pay too much attention to news regarding gangs, but lately you still here a lot about the gangs in the city. Yells angels is definitely one everyone knows. Red Alert is a gang not only notorious in the city, but very high in numbers too, when I was homeless I didn't know many people who had no affiliation with RA. Everyone knew them, some liked them, others were rivals, but everyone I knew at least knew someone in the gang personally, both for good and bad. ASAP, despite being new and small is almost as well known as RA now too for their portrayal of violence. Other than that most gangs in the city are forgotten about by most of the city though. Great video tho, new sub earned!

Great video! I grew up in Edmonton, Mainly Millwoods area. I heard there was significantly more gang activity in the Millwoods/Milbourne area and south side near Southgate mall. I was told that a lot of the activity was controlled by East Indian and Asian gangs. Is this still true?

Perfect timing for this video as there is alot of gang violence and shootings happening right now in edmonton . Its unfortunate but if your not in it , then it shouldnt affect you . Lived in millwoods my whole life and it goes through its cycles.

Very interesting video. I have lived within a block of 109 st and 107 ave for 15 years now and rarely have had any bad experiences. Worst incidents were stopping shoplifters at the 7-11 but it was always just verbal threats. I have been out for walks alone along 107 ave in the middle of the night and never been harrassed. I do not doubt there are gang elements in the area as I see the colours mentioned all over but for the most part everyone keeps to themselves. My guess is the gangs of the area are harmless unless they come across a rival gang but are generally fine towards the general public. The worst parts of the area are the homeless/drug abusers as what is the worst that can happen to them? They get arrested and have a place to sleep for the night? They cant be fined for anything because they have nothing so the police let them get away with most minor issues. But ya, as a resident of the area for 15ish years the people around here are relatively friendly and harmless and mean well. It's just dirty.

Yeah I've seen this. I used to work with Federal security, been around Edmonton and such, these people are criminal indeed. It's a blight on humanity.
