That's what our garage does. They'll use parts off of a wreck until there is nothing left but a shell. What's left is sold as scrap.

The mustang ran a stop sign at high speed hitting the bus just ahead of the driver side rear wheel causing the bus to go sideways and putting the right rear off the road and into a ditch. The driver side rear then began "climbing " over the Mustang's hood, causing an already steep lean angle to go much further until the bus fell over onto it's side. The bus was travelling about 40 mph at the time of impact. The driver suffered a moderate back injury when he was thrown from his seat into the passenger door area. He was wearing a seat belt.

It hit the bus just in front of the rear wheels, the bus then rolled up onto the hood and that's what caused it to roll over.

I'm sure the insurance company got to write an enormous check and the boy's family will be fighting lawsuits for years to come. It was three boys from a nearby high school in the ford. The word on the street is the driver was known to drive like a complete idiot on a regular basis. He claimed vegetation blocked his view of the stop sign on the road he drove to school on everyday.

IC and Blue Bird have to meet the same roll over and crash test standards as Thomas. I'm not saying this is the case with your comment, but it peeves me when people take brand loyalty to the level of assuming that the competitors bus is unsafe. Construction hasn't changed much in the last 20-30 years in reality, the core shell and design of the bus is the same, so you likely would have seen the same result here in a 20 year old bus. The only difference could be seat height, and seat belts where applicable, maybe number of exits but that's irrelevant to crash integrity. Safety comes first when it's painted yellow.

I didn't know. But thanks for letting me know. I also didn't say other bus companies buses were unsafe, I just said that Thomas makes buses for situations like these, hence also meaning other companies. I was only using Thomas as an example, also because it was the type of bus. Now yes, I agree the first sentence of my comment kinda sounded like I think other companies aren't safe, but I do think that the other companies are just as safe. Sorry if I made you mad in ANY way. That was not my intent.
