There was also a book a while before the flash game that gave the top 10 reasons for Lyman's disappearance, and 1 was "don't look in Jon's basement!" It's fair to say that this wasn't a 1 off for a horror themed game, but something Jim has thought of for a while

@@octopusoptimusprime A subreddit dedicated to turning garfield into an eldritch horror. Basically, horror comics using garfield (and similar cartoons by extension) as a basis. It's resulted in comic series like Bikini Bottom Horror, and literal works of art like "The Forgiveness of Jon"

Right? My knowledge of Garfield encompasses exactly two things: the live action movies, and the sorry John subreddit. That's all my experience with Garfield before watching this video, and one of those things wasn't even mentioned :(

For the "Lyman in Jon's basement" theory, Lyman left the comics from a comic strip of him going on holiday, to a place with their own version of big foot, in a later comic, Jon goes to the same place, looking for Lyman, finding the big foot, however, it is just Lyman in a big foot suit, as he had to replace the previous man in the suit, I don't remember what it said happened to him, but Lyman replaced him, and was there ever since

Fun fact from the wiki In the book 20 Years & Still Kicking!: Garfield's Twentieth Anniversary Collection, one of the sections is named Top Ten Explanations For Lyman's Disappearance and includes: 10: "Left strip to pursue dream of Olympic figure-skating gold." 9: "Joined CIA, working undercover in Russian comics. 8: "Had lunch with Jimmy Hoffa, and then..." 7: "Took role as Elaine on 'Taxi'." 6: "Hit on Blondie and Cathy; editors complained; Davis fired him." 5: "Disfigured in drawing accident." 4: "Moved to San Francisco." 3: "Opted for career in Hotel/Motel management." 2: "Ballooned to 270 pounds; wouldn't fit in cartoon panels." 1: "Don't look in Jon's basement!"

37:37 Garfield talking to God is a trippy sequence, but as a kid I always wondered about Odie being there. If the Eight Life was "our" Garfield, why does Odie show up in the sequence after the *ninth* life is over? Speculating: God obviously isnt fooled by Odie being a cat, he's testing Garfield and is impressed he's bold enough to lie to help his friend (a dog). But still, why is Odie here? Because dog afterlife works differently; Odie doesn't have nine lives, but a dog is faithful. He gets around it by being faithful enough to follow Garfield into death. They're bonded. God is probably impressed by the idea of a dog and cat getting along that well, or the sheer novelty, that he does Garfield a favor. Odie will just reincarnate when needed.
