I agree. I feel like people say “no we should let everyone in. The bigger the better” because of some religious like link to money making or capitalism…. Look man, I’m not an anti capitalist.. I’m anti my thing getting ruined or corporatized and filled with micros,anime skins,live service, etc etc.. yes those things make money the easiest I understand. That doesn’t mean they are even close to the best quality. People think that a bigger the thing gets, the more money it’s makes, the more it puts back in to the product. I’ve completely found that to be not true and also ruins the culture of the game. I feel like there is a happy medium somewhere.. but constant growth just kills and corporatizes. It’s the money that gets to people.

What gets me is that it's the same people saying it's the developer's vision when it's DEI, but they'll gatekeep and try to change things when the developer wants to not have DEI. Go create your own spaces instead of invading everyone else's and gatekeeping. Most people didn't really care that Forspoken had a black woman as the protagonist. It was everything that developed after that was a problem.

Note that this was streamed on A LOT of channels, not just IGN, and, at the time (looks at screenshot) had about 20 viewers per channel. "You're so pretty!!" yet when we say it it's Sexual Harassment and could get us fired, lol. Remember that new game Capcom was releasing, the West had Drag Queens presenting it, the East had Vtubers playing games. Priorities, right?

If I sell a widget in 1990 for $1 profit, and in 2020 inflation has reduced the value of that dollar down to a quarter - then selling a widget for $2 profit in 2020 would indeed mean I have made record profits that year... yet I'm still losing half of my profit. And that's before all of the other factors that probably went into "massaging" the numbers. For instance, are profits calculated in the same way that women gamers are counted? I.E. There's still a thriving Mobile Market which is functionally an entirely different industry than AAA development - yet the waifu bux generated by phone gatcha games which take a pittance of investment to create by comparison are used to excoriate AAA developers under the broadest of umbrella terms under "the gaming industry". It's a disingenuous wedge designed to generate public resentment (as if these companies don't already do enough to earn your resentment, though if anyone gets called out for that - it's the customer) and push for further socialization of the game industry.

A twenty-seven minute preshow? And people say that movie theaters pad the time with their previews. The flipping preshow is the same length of a proper TV show episode. No one hosting this "award show" has played so much as the original Pac-Man arcade game, lead alone a game like Lies of P. The later of which I highly recommend, by the way.

The election of a president has barely anything to do with the cultural pendulum swinging. I think it was already on its way to snapping back like a rubber band.
