Hey sweet protection, start making helmets for people with large heads. Your L/ XL helmets are a full inch smaller than many of your competitors.

I read an article published back in the 90s on bicycle helmets. It said they were not designed for low impacts. They dissipated energy by fracturing the helmet material. On slow impacts the material transmitted much of the force. I wonder if todays rafting helmets are the same.

Important factor is helmet fit. Any of these helmets not fitted correctly negates the ranking.

Helmets for any type of use all protect from glancing hits. Were it not for a helmet, there could be significant soft tissue trauma to the head from rocks/boulders tearing flesh on each impact.
