My Two favorite songs by Billie are 🎶When I Was Older 🎶 & 🎶No Time To Die🎶 I would say do Ariana Grande but I feel like that’ll be a lot of research to do especially when she is so big and went through a lot. Maybe go for Juice World as well.

yeah I know I'm late but... that guy got more and more disgusting with every clip that was shown... The worst thing was the seizure thing for sure, but he's a gatekeeping bigot, just take a look at the eagles clip. I came here from "the genius of: the weekend" and i love this series, I'm sure if you keep on doing it you'll channel will blow up, Personally this is the type of content I had been looking for for quite some time, so your work is appreciated and I subbed and can't wait for you to put out more of these. I'd recommend you do Tyler Joseph / twenty one pilots because there's a whole universe to all of their music and the subjects they talk about in their songs. The universe they created only for their fans and not the mainstream, well, you have a big rabbit whole right there if you want to get lost in research haha. Keep it up!

my favorite Billie Eilish song is "listen before I go" because it's about s**cide and I've been through a lot and and she helped me go through my depression which I still have but it's not as severe as once it was before, and the other one I love is "Everybody dies" the song is talking about everybody dying one day and we're not prepared to die but we're not alone, and my third one that I love is "Halley's comet" as it's talking about a long distance relationship and she comes around much less frequent as she compares herself to a comet that comes once in a lifetime

I was so pleasantly surprised by her music, I didn't know her name or at least attached it to any music, i just realized that every songs I liked for a period were hers.

The moment I ran across her first music videos and I saw her sense of style. I inherently knew that she would vilified, and any success she would had would be scrutinized. For women it always comes down to marketing yourself as a sex product who can sing and its this constant thing I noticed as a child growing with a lot of female singers but Billie was imprinted on my mind when I saw how covered she was, it was refreshing to see a girl just sing and not be naked or sexualize herself especially at such a young age.

the storytelling of this essay gave me goosebumps, ( besides that angry boomer guy, who clearly has some issues with himself, because he's hating on everybody, probably mirroring his own hate against himself, because he lives in a car and hasn't achieved anything, besides getting clicks on hating others LMAAOOO) Billie just stays so true to her own unique way of creating music, no matter how the rest of the mainstream sounds. I think that's what makes her special and that her sound ,sounds way mature than her actual age is. She's one of my biggest inspos, because she simply doesn't care about what others think, she creates her own world, same as Tyler or the weekend. My favorite songs are "when the party over", "getting older", "burry a friend", "Ilomilo". I personally can relate most to the album "when we all fall asleep where do we go?", because of my lucid dreams that I've been experiencing since I was a child. If my dreamworld had an soundtrack this would be it.

Also I really liked your take on listen before I go as having a double entendre of leaving friends behind, making me think of all the good girls go to hell as well, “Pearly gates look more like a picket fence Once you get inside 'em Got friends but can't invite them” which I always felt had a sense of that as well

I have a few favorite Billie songs, ‘Listen Before I Go’ being one. But the one I thought of first was ‘my future’. When I heard it I was just recovering from a failed attempt to end myself and the way she sang so hopefully about her future and loving her future self was something I wished I could do. It really inspired me to reflect on myself. While I still slip back into having suicidal thoughts sometimes, I make it through by believing in a good future for myself with my friends. Sorry that was kinda long lol, but yeah ‘my future’ is definitely my favorite Billie song.

I have too many songs to pick from but, one of- if not my favourite billie songs is wish you were gay. I absolutely love the writing here and the meaning behind it makes the song hit even harder. Many people I know and some other comments say that this is a homophobic remark. She never meant to make it sound like that. Even in a video she said that she just hoped the guy she liked has a reason to not like her, and it was of course because he’s gay. It’s one of my favourites because you need to really understand the meaning behind it to really feel it. Now I know I’m supposed to pick one but I have to bring up Happier Than Ever. That song blew me away. This is probably my favourite song (my opinion of favourite songs changes too much lol). It shows two different sides of Billie and the second half of the song had me guessing if it was Billie or a feature artist for quite a bit of time. This song was absolutely beautiful and along with ‘wish you were gay’ they have to be some of her best songs. She’s been my favourite artist since I discovered her through my brother in early 2018 and I’ve been hooked on her since. Billie’s music is absolutely genius and she and Finneas make a great team.

Wait hold on, some fact checking details. To preface, I’m loving this video! I also feel almost pity for that car guy. Yikes. But anyway, the details I mentioned: Billie was never enrolled in a school. I’m pretty certain she said several times she’s never been to a school ever…? And didn’t Billie still dance when Ocean Eyes came out? She had a dance version of the song, and was still doing choreography type dance for almost all of her ep songs’ videos…? At 6:55 you also say “for her music teacher to hear” but it was her dance teacher, you even said so at the beginning, that it was her contribution to dance class (“although she could no longer dance herself” - if that was actually the reason, that’s pretty awesome. But I think she still danced then.) Just before you started to talk about her debut record you mention that the majority of her fans are teenage girls… I would argue, “were”. If you look at even the crowds of her most recent concerts (granted, you posted this video six months ago), and even just looking at the range of fans she has, I don’t really think this applies any more. From secluded metal heads to rappers to folk to jazz to electro synth lovers… from grandparents to music industry giants to teenagers… from romantics to horror lovers, cinema buffs to music theorists… once one actually pays attention to her beyond her initial teenage pop “impression” of “being mainstream” when one likes to think of oneself as “not following trends” … her music and overall aesthetic intelligence and honest, vulnerable, yet cocky and provocatively-being-herself persona, is a force to be reckoned with.
