I don't think Morty is suppose to become rick, but yeah she's def more similar to Beth which is similar to Rick. I assume that's the reason why rick doesn't bring her along as much; he needs that Morty shield/Morty to balance shit out lol

I think that might be a different Summer, recall that Rick and Morty left C-137 after the cronenberg incident. The summer that is friends with Nancy is the Summer from their new reality. I might be wrong though

I hadn't realized that when Morty it's willing to leave Rick in jail and deliver the speach to summer, he's actually talking about the only Rick who actually cared about his family so much that was willing to leave everything for them.

Rick still traumatizes and hurts Morty all the time, even when he does have his moments. I think that’s what Morty was trying to prevent for Summer. Also this is just personally my opinion so don’t kill me lol, but I don’t think Rick truly loves the current Smith family. I honestly think that he turned himself in just to destroy the citadel and to get rid of Jerry. This is canonically (from what we know) the third universe he’s camped on since abandoning the cronenburg universe and the squirrel universe, and that’s just a known fact I’ll never forget. The only person he ever brings along when he goes universe hopping is Morty. Nobody can replace his original Beth, he hates Jerry, and he’s not as close with Summer as he is with Morty. The only characters I see that he currently truly cares about is bird person and Morty. He does things for them that no other Rick would do. Just my opinion though. I know Rick still has his soft moments with the Smith family.

@@Meme-rc1zoI think he just tolerates Jerry now. Jerry HAS helped Rick a few times, and that probably upped his level of importance to Rick. He DOES love pretty much every version of Beth in his own way, and we’ve seen he cares a LOT for Summer and Morty.

What I like about Summer is that she develops and becomes a total badass who can work well under stress and danger, but still acts like a normal teenager and stays true to herself. In that regard, I feel like Summer is better written than Morty. Props to the writers, they could have easily made her a Meg Griffin but instead they made her super cool and funny

Prediction for season six, I think: Summer decides that she wants to become a space explorer like Rick. Fight some aliens, topple empires, get some bitches, all that shit. Obviously, her parents would disapprove of this, especially Beth, considering that she is becoming more like Rick. Or worse, more worse than Rick. She then decides to hang out with Space Beth and become her sidekick, like Morty is to Rick. But soon enough, she'll soon realize that maybe she didn't need to be like her grandpa, or become him.

4:47-5:05 Man I love dramatic scenes like these that Rick and Morty or Bojack Horseman give. Besides the excitement, they demonstrate insight about the character they're are talking about and show either their psychological state, mental problems such as loneliness or self-hatred, or their attitudes towards their surroundings. That's so fascinating and thrilling.
