Tucked in a secret location in Tumon, a giant sinkhole awaits exploration. I had only heard rumors of the colossal sinkhole until today when I gazed upon its colossalness with my own eyes.
Its hard to believe something so amazing can be hidden away in one of the most trafficked areas of Guam. If you are in Tumon and you have a few minutes of extra time, this is a great little adventure off the beaten path.

A few years back a boonie dog had fallen into the pit and miraculously survived the fall. It was in the hole a few days before being rescued by the Guam Fire Department. ..

Hi, my brother and I know about the sinkhole! We lived on Guam in the early 70s, I was 11 years old in 1971 when we lived in Tamuning in a neighborhood called Perezville, named after the developer. It sat near the old Guam Memorial hospital, and we used to walk from our house down to Tumon Bay to go swimming. The Hilton was recently completed not long after we arrived, and the hospital sat above the hotel on the cliff. There were few hotels there, and it was the beginning of Tumon's development as a tourist destination for Japanese newlyweds. As to the sinkhole, my brother and I discovered it not long after we moved to Tamuning from Dededo, exploring our new neighborhood. I dont remember it being fenced in then, but I'm sure alot has changed there in the past 50+ years. I also ride mountain bikes and motorcycle, I got my moto start there riding minibikes around the neighborhood and in a nearby stone quarry. Thanks for posting the video! Ride on!

theres a total of 4 BOMB holes in that area, this just one of them the other three are well hidden. the military bombed those areas because the japanese had hidden caves dug out in the area.im not even sure why this video is called sinkhole. it looks like a sink hole but we locals know its not. LOL

It is a quarry my coworker was just telling me that a couple days ago while talking a out the Hawaiian rock and Smith bridge quarries. He told me his father told him that it's a quarry as he was a dump truck driver back when the quarry was still in use.🤙🏾

There was two quarries there in Tamuning, one on each side of the street across from the elementary school and adjacent to the old Perezville neighborhood where my family and I lived in the early 70s. Also a huge Banyan tree near the school.

If you chill there for awhile quietly you'll see deer and pigs walk around the bottom or go there after a big storm or typhoon it will be full of water with multiple waterfalls along the lip of the hole

Yeah deer are rare in comparison to the wild pig sightings. When I did see them it was usually towards the evening or early mornings, while I waited for the rest of my rugby mates to show before our trainers attempted to murder us by making us do sprints with weighted vest up the steepest grass hills that the Hilton could provide! Lol

It's not a Sinkhole. I use to live in the doctor's housing in Tamuning in 1970 and myself and many others found this one day while looking for coconut crab. It use to have Japanese human remains and a tank from WW2. Now it's in some senator's name for finding it. Sad.

thats been there since the forever... first time i been there was in 1986 LOL you should be careful walking over it though they found people who fell in and died from broken neck in there few times.... the top portion still coroded too can collapse... but yeah im local and i know about that place when i was like 5. some people believe its a bomb hole and not a sink hole. because that area was bombed during world war 2 there are other hole just up ahead near the cliffline to possibly confirm that theory.

Someone else mentioned the idea that it might be a bomb hole. I’ll have to look into it a bit more to find out. It seems like an odd shape for a bomb hole. I’ll have to walk the coastline and find the others.
