It's hard to explain, but RTD is the master of making those things that give you nightmares that don't sound like they should be scary but are. Like when you're a child and you're just weirdly scared of a random inanimate object at your gran's house for some reason.

Or does it make more sense that the actor wanted a go at playing Newton and the colour of their skin didn't prevent that. It's a fictional world mate, make up some headcannon like maybe the timelines are all weird and Newton is a different ethnicity because of it. Like seriously, theres bigger things to be angry about. Be angry at your bills and the politicians that make them so high. For the sake of your own mental health.

@@oatymilkshakeok then, I'm white and I want to play Martin Luther King, can I do that? It just creates less of a headache for everyone if you just keep the historical characters as they were when they were around. I’m stunned by the incredible work of the art and puppeteering teams here as well. I was almost certain the robot was CGI, and I’m glad it was not. This was absolutely a fantastic story and David and Catherine were phenomenal. This felt like such a pure doctor who story with heavy science fiction and really interesting villains which reminded me of Adam from torchwood that existed outside of the universe.

Episodes like this is why we started watching in the first place. I love these two together. Nearly had a stroke when the real Donna was left behind, but had a feeling the Doctor would figure it out. And he did! It was scary, suspenseful , funny and left you on the edge of your seat. More like this please and thank you! ❤

This was so much fun to watch :) The only bit i was confused at is when the doctor said something about “i’ve never been out this far before” despite as far as i know that happening twice, Matt Smith - the living planet thing that eats tardis’ And Jodie Whitaker - in division Edit: i also especially love how after the start bit where isaac says Mavity that both Donna and Doctor keep saying it, except as mavity

I really can appreciate the mavity of the situation now after seeing tonight’s episode and the work that went into it behind the scenes. My jaw was on the floor thanks to mavity and a cup of coffee in the TARDIS. On a serious note though, RIP Bernard Cribbins, you were an incredible actor and I hope you know that, I sobbed my eyes out seeing Wilf at the end, I’m so glad he made it into tonights 60th anniversary special ❤️.

I wouldn't say close. Midnight was a master piece thriller episode. It definitely felt like midnight with the villians trying to copy the cast and I could tell rtd based this episode on it. I actually was guessing before this episode came out that it the midnight entity was coming back lol.

Loved this episode. Though people keep saying it's "unlike any Doctor Who episode or TV episode". I disagree. This reminded me of Midnight (in a good way). This episode felt like Midnight meets the 2016 film Passengers. And any story involving imposters like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Secret Invasion, etc. In fact, it reminded me of a lot of Doctor Who episodes involving landing in spooky mostly empty ships and places (The Girl in the Fireplace, 42, Silence in the Library, Under the Lake, Sleep No More, Heaven Sent, Smile, Oxygen, World Enough & Time, etc). This one was just particularly interesting. Come to think of it, this would have made a really cool Capaldi episode.

I gotta say, this episode brought me back to my 13 year old self watching empty child, midnight, impossible planet, and all the scariest episodes. I KNEW the moment the Doctor entered the room silently and squatted down in a weird way. Something was off. But then David’s big eyes made me question my initial suspicions. The moment they switched to the other room, I knew something was up. Fantastic episode. Can’t wait to rewatch lol

The no-thing with their too long arms and how they moved and ended up squished in the hallway visually gave me strong Ghibli vibes. I'm not keen for body horror but the abstractness and Ghibli vibes made it watchable for me. Jimbo was awesome! Brave, not so little, robot. I wanted to give him a good repair job to get rid of all the rusty spots. Poor thing! But he fulfilled his duty marvelously. It's good to see that the vibes of "Midnight" brought up again. The no-things trying to copy humanoids physically and down to their memories seemed just like a different approach to what the Midnight Creature did by trying to copy,,ng their consciousness into a humanoid. And it's also wonderful to see quite some familiar faces from behind the scenes again, like Dan Hargraves.

The acting with the doubles reminds me of making off Midnight, too. With the actress that played the possesed woman and David learning to say the same thing on the same time.

Might have to watch this episode again tomorrow, because I was in a crowded room and couldn't hear a thing, but from what I saw, it looked really...interesting. I originally thought they were going to end with the Doctor leaving with the wrong Donna and the real Donna dying, which would have been an interesting cliffhanger (and I would've like to see it, because it's my kind of ending). But on the other hand, we might have lost the Wilf ending, which would've also been a terrible shame.

Felt like we were right back in Season 4 with the sort of crazy wacky Doctor and Donna adventure we'd expect - but with a lot better effects overall. But also some super funky campy effects that make it Doctor Who. Lovely episode. Starbeast was a lot of fun, but this was truly Doctor Who at its best.

This episode was so awesome. I love episodes that leave it up to the cast to carry it because DW has such a great cast and they ALWAYS kill it. I also love the concept of taking away everything, and i mean everything, that makes the Doctor powerful. Obviously the TARDIS and the Sonic took off so hes left with his greatest weapon which is of course his mind... and he literally cant use it because it gives his enemy power. Genius.
